This movie is really fun to watch and you are in for several surprises. It's like a matrioshka doll... to say more would be a major spoiler, just watch it!
As a review was saying, "with charm, wit and clever twists, not to mention a terrific pair of leads, this is a romcom with a difference and offers something for everyone."

I loved the push and pull this movie had me going through. There are so many scenes that have you smiling or even laughing, only to be quickly followed by others that are meant to make your heart sink a little bit. it's like someone is constantly flipping a coin, showing you different faces of the same reality. Not everything is what it seems to be, there is no light without shadow...
Kim Sung Kyun was a pleasure to watch, as the grumpy, rude, impatient shaman little brother. His antics really make you smile, his lines are witty and he manages to create a memorable character. I guess he is a fully fledged actor by now, he should def. do more comedy, he is being typecast into thrillers/horrors due to his face if you ask me...
Jo Jin Woong plays second violin, even though he is the hyung in the story. He has an interesting character as well, but somehow I wasn't as drawn to him as compared to his donsaeng.
This is def. worth watching, mainly for the character developpment and for the witty dialogues (esp. since the brothers serve different Gods, hence their beliefs collide quite offen and sarcasm ensues)

On Empire of Lust May 23, 2015
My rating: 5/10
I went in with high hopes for a great treat. I mean we are talking Shin Ha Kyun, Jang Hyuk and Kang Ha Neul here. However, 2 hours and lots of rolling eyes later, I feel completely disappointed...

Lately i wonder if there is a contest going on among Korean A actors that I don't know of...."Show me your butt" being the name of the game... A lot of gratuitous sex scenes, all 3 gentlemen present on the poster are contenders for the prize... It isn't that I am prudish or anything, but i want to see more of a story and character development and less of their skin, no matter how fit they are... it's sad as I know for a fact all 3 of them have the TALENT that can wow audiences, so I just don't see why they take on these roles where they have to act like AV actors... Whatever happened to "less is more" when it comes to intimate scenes?

Also, it feels kind of cheap when you have no better idea how to portray a ruthless character than having him slaughter a bunch of innocent animals. Again, going for the easy tricks does not make for a great end result.

No wonder the movie was a total flop at B.O. After making the front page news as a Korean equivalent of Lust, Caution, it flopped with a score of 470,000. sad, sad, sad. And now I know why....

On Persona Non Grata May 21, 2015
2015 marks the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II. In order to properly commemorate this milestone, the production team features a mix of Japanese, Polish, and American staff members with the majority of filming taking place throughout Poland. The story spans half of Sugihara’s lifetime and features a wide variety of settings including Tokyo, Warsaw, Kaunas Bucharest, Berlin, Vladivostok, the Soviet Union, Manchukuo, America, and more.
Sugihara served as Vice-Consul for the Empire of Japan in Kaunas, Lithuania during World War II and issued transit visas to thousands of Jewish refugees from Germany and Poland which helped them escape to Japan during World War II. He did this in spite of not having the approval of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, putting himself and his family at great risk. His actions have led to him occasionally being referred to as the “Schindler of Japan”.
In the movie, Sugihara is sent to Lithuania in the dual role of diplomat and intelligence officer. As the state of world affairs get more and more confusing, Sugihara’s superiors give him the dangerous task of relaying German and Russian troop movements back to Japan. Meanwhile, he uses his position to write thousands of transit visas for Jewish refugees who come to know him as “Sempo”.
Actress Koyuki will co-star as Sugihara’s loving wife Yukiko. Polish actor Borys Szyc, winner of Best Actor at the 2011 Montreal World Film Festival, will play Sugihara’s right-hand man “Pesh”. Agnieszka Grochowska (In Darkness) will play a woman named Irina who secretly falls in love with Sugihara. Additional Japanese cast members include Gaku Hamada, Takashi Tsukamoto, Kenichi Takito, and Fumiyo Kohinata.

The story of a Japanese diplomat, sometimes called the Schindler of Japan, and his life leading up to and after his decision to issue over 2,000 visas to Jewish refugees in Kaunas, Lithuania resulting in saving the lives of over 6,000 people. This is the story of a man who believed in doing all he could do for the benefit of his beloved Japan, including trying to keep her from becoming embroiled in a worldwide conflict he saw as inevitable. Along the way, he came face to face with the plight of the European Jews as they tried to escape the onslaught of the Nazi’s and the rapidly advancing German army. Caught between the unbending policies of his country now bound by treaty with Nazi Germany and his awakening moral responsibilities, we follow his life from his early days in Manchuria to his eventual posting in Lithuania and his appointment with destiny which would forever brand him a hero.
