ok if that is funny to you....???? i just saw one episode, i don find it funny at all, it is very crude and so over the top pretense serious - just like most if not all cdramas.

but i realized why cdramas have no comedy by default - comedy is forbidden in dictatorships
they just cannot have it

yeah the script threw Chloe under the bus and made her so simple minded cemented into one track: her revenge. She acts really stupidly so her role is so diminished to being a machine that generates bad decisions

This drama is a very raw soap about low lives, so it is nothing classy or sophisticated, but it is a real plot and real acting. Every drama thrives by working out the CONFLICT of the characters, inside and outside, and Pearl in red got it!.

So ... This drama is a LOT better than First Man bc there is emotional conflict workouts.
In First Man, there are no conflicts. DumbMi just lets things slide, Baek Ho just goes along with whatever she says, the villain is already cemented as 100% evil, and the only conflicted person is Jun Ho, but the actor is so unskilled and his script is so boring - so THE ONLY PERSON with conflict in First Man is a bad actor and totally killed the drama.

In this drama, there are several characters with growing conflicts: HJ, his mother and and her real husband, MJ and his mother, and Chloe. Chairman and YN are written as already cemented into 100% evil.
The young actor who acts HJ is the key to success of this story bc HJ story is all about inner conflicts new to HJ's character and ripping him apart, and the actor is really nailing the role

HJ's evil mother is a quite well written villain, because she also has emotional turmoil and keeps sliding into worse and worse, which makes her son and her real partner, the Driver, get deeper into the nightmare.

MJ and Chloe are also about inner conflict, however, MJ actor is below par and totally flat, so MJ role is useless except for a nice fashion show of business suits,

and Chloe script is too stupid, Chloe is too one-dimensional, even if she self reflects, it is for like 1 second, and the only thing she can see is her own revenge. So, Chloe keeps making stupid decisions. The role of Chloe in the script is just to create external action. And... since Chloe is too flat stupid - the acting of Chloe actress is boring

IF Chloe actress can act complexity, a better drama would be created by Chloe having an inner conflict.
Right now, the stupid decisions of Chloe are driving HJ's mother into more evil, so HJ suffers more and more, so HJ actor is more and more in the forefront and Chloe is kept only as a pretty background object.

it is too bad bc Chloe actress has skillZ and could do a lot more. I hope the script lets her

In other words, this drama as it was so far, is creating a star actor out of HJ actor (and maybe his mom and Chairman) and everyone else is just a side supporting character
so I am sure that can be improved
MJ actor might be a lost case, he had chances so far to show a deeper acting, and he has never done it. So everyone else. try it

I browsed through comments and saw 2 last episodes and ... i am not interested to watch this. it became way too... flat and complicated. There is no character growth, no progress, no psychological or fun plots
the drama is all about ACTIONS that players take to outdo and swindle each other but everyone is stuck being their old stale self

That's not cool that characters are approximately the same they were at the start of the drama. So the acting is too flat and boring too

Yeah ML is a snowflake, talking about leaving to the usa...
MH and SR are quite evil ppl, they found each other just right

And in DOTS he is younger and has a bigger face and lips that dont curve down, looks very different, a lot more energetic
Seems like in last years he too lost the weight he did not have and turned into a skeleton version of himself

and maybe you will not :) many people can live in that dictatorship only if they pretend it is not there

We need to find out why she fell in love with G and what is that all about, why is she putting him on a pedestal, not living her life, and waiting for him. Why is she so disfunctionally stuck...? it is a mental illness of some sort, she is turning into a full blown villain

I love the sense of comedy in this drama. Bc it is a fantasy and anything is possible, the drama SOME|TIMES uses exaggerated actions and acting to show what is happening, it has that rowdy makjang style that I so love in kdramas. Then there are lots of small details, microexpressions, tiny little subplots, scenes, etc which are totally hilarious. And so the drama goes between tragic, thriller, melodrama, drama, subtle comedy, and rowdy comedy. The music matches perfectly and adds to the fun :)

I love the sense of comedy in this drama, so kdrama style - sophisticated, hilarious, tragicomic and comical, compassionate, and very very perceptive, thoughtful, smart, and deep. Very revealing and leading to reflection and transformation. I love that

I watch kdramas bc of that always present deep compassion comedic quality. Deep issues are brought close to our faces by using comedic elements that make us think.

cdramas have no comedy.... And it is inherent... bc by definition, dictatorships do not allow any comedy :)
I realize that one of my dislikes of cdramas is that lack of finesse and lightness.

It will NEVER| be possible to have comedy in cdramas until their whole country gets reorganized and that will not be happening any time soon :) they keep the lid tight on there...
yeah Hwood also has no comedy ... since around 2006-2010.... all really great movies stopped around that time. Groundhog day, Truman Show, idiocracy, legally Blonde, Matrix, etc etc etc and all such deep movies stopped loooong time ago

why??? romance makes it more fun and is an unavoidable part of life. If the entire drama has no romance, it will totally DEAD

The Chairman is a very interesting character.
He is actually a good guy Joyn Wayne style lmao a white hat but so rigid stiff discriminatory stupid...

he is a good guy bc his employees said he really took care of the company and the employees, he paid his employees well, he had no scandals, he did not do much bad that I see so far - we did not see him bribing police, assemblyman, etc. Seems like he had some sense of ethics and integrity, and a decent and honest reputation - as far as a chairman goes, he seems like someone with some moral compass.

he is a super bad guy bc he is so rigid, stiff, stuck on his company only, making decisions only for the company, stuck on the money, disregarding people, so prejudiced, so discriminatory, so primitively SHALLOW one-dimensional character

he is a super bad father, he coddled the twins and they became total criminals - and perhaps their mom was a wrong choice too... then he again married wrong - a very young woman with no experirence and no brains apparently - and then totally misjudged and discarded his youngest daughter - although she is the one similar to him in her drive and ethics, and the only one fit to inherit

At least he had the guts to cut out the twins when they proved they are nasty criminals and ignoramuses. And he cut them out bc they would destroy Chiseong lmao not bc they are nasty ppl as ppl .... As a father, he totally failed to raise his children

also this drama uses exaggerated expressions too make sure the audience gets what is going on, which imo is a hilarious makjangish comedy, esp since the drama has fantasy elements, so imo any comedic exaggeration is ok.

I find the drama incredibly funny and deep, with very sophisticated humor, comedy and tragicomedy, accenting deep compassionate and revealing moments, in the glowing tradition of hilariously funny and thoughtful comedy in kdramas

I am not sure where you come from? Hwood has no comedy since ... 2000s.... If you are a cdrama watcher then you wont get it, cdramas have NO comedy whatsoever.... by definition, comedy is not allowed in dictatorships

Seems so real in this role. So many little details that make the character seem alive and real
And the actor is totally unique and unrecognizable in this role. I did NOT recognize him from his previous roles.... until much later, with lots of long close up shots, when I realized the face reminds me of someone I have seen before. Only after careful looking and reading comments here, I connected the dots.
