My mother was hospitalized and then died, so I was out of touch for a while, esp since in all that mess, i spilled water on my laptop keyboard and it DIED.... and I also lost interest in watching.... In the last few days I managed to take a peek at few dramas I liked and many did not stand the test lmao
So I am behind on this drama and I tried to watch some eps and what I noticed is how WHITE POWDERED their faces are. it looks creepy.
Please let the actors show their natural skin.
Korean skin naturally looks like a slightly tan North West Caucasian, and that is a good thing :) it looks nice - it means the person is wealthy, healthy and young enough to spend time outdoors :) or very similar to a Southern European, like Italian, French, Spanish or Balkan or even Turkish or Middle Eastern
I was watching High Kick 3 when my mother went to hospital and it was amazing to see Mr. Yoon the PE Teacher - pitch black hair, darker complexion, sparkley black eyes, and shiny white teeth - gees that man is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!! he had crow wrinkles around his eyes but that took looked great, bc HE SMILES .... and the shine in the hair and the glow in the skin color and eyes just matches so well. Then I checked High Kick 1 and 2 and the FL there, the mom / oriental doctor looks like that too, she is a GORGEOUS woman, absolutely stunning, no bleached hair or heavy makeup
So do NOT destroy what is already naturally beautiful, and show it as it is, dont whitewash it, dont try to make it look white. Sure USA and Europe have MONEY and kdramas are trying to kiss their as@ and sell more..... but ... USA and Europe too get tan :)
So Dont make kdrama actors look like circus clowns or ghosts or people who spend 100% of their time in a basement
I find super white pale face of FL creepy. In some scenes she looks translucent like a porcelain doll and in some scenes she looks terrifying pasty white like a ghost.
and ML's coat stayed till the end lmao in some ways i am glad, he stayed true to himself. In other ways... omg that coat must stink from overuse
Lately, I’ve been obsessed with fantasy dramas, so when I decided to watch WAATH, I honestly didn’t expect…
what a beautiful review. it is sad that this drama is a true "fantasy" lmao as it is so rare and so magical although it should be normal , there should be many more pieces of entertainment that are meaningful
as a lover of fairy tales, as a storyteller, I can tell you WHY you might be drawn to fantasy dramas - because they are fantasy, they are allowed to address the "higher" aspects of life, not just the mundane nitty gritty. And yeah, most botch it lmao with the pretty ML and special effects bs lmao
In fact, a fairy tale is a spiritual lesson and all such storytelling is designed to evoke something Higher in a person and make them self reflect and think and apply it to their own life.
As for "no need for crazy plots" you would be surprised but I found it in daily kdrama Our Happy Lives. The acting is so good and so a lot of the plot are just masterfully acted out skits from daily life. It is just amazing. I do improv comedy and that drama reminds me of the finest improv acting I have ever seen. So.... ordinary but so extraordinary...
1. We don't know. Has not been revealed yet. Hopefully soon we will know.2. As per the character chart released…
yes ML's father is most likely not innocent here - those dudes never are Even if he liked his son, he can easily throw him under the bus or somehow play the games
to the king the most important thing is himself :) super rare is a dude at that level who is genuinely nice. Nice guys get killed fast
he had a lead role in 100 Memories but the script and the director just killed him and made him have poker face the entire time. I seriously thought he could not act. I am not joking. he was TERRIBLE. Boring nightmare terrible.
It was a major surprise seeing him in this drama, where he acts so creatively and so well.... Now I understand that someone made him "act" poker face before.
LESSON LEARNED: THE SCRIPT AND THE DIRECTOR HAVE THE POWER TO KILL ALL ACTING.
So let's pray more specifically: to get ML roles where he can express his acting skills
nah he swindled you lmao he is MOST cruel - and that's why he doesnt kill where it is not good for his cause - just like someone described - he WOULD LOVE TO KILL but he cannot leave those tracks - and you are misinterpreting it as "being nice" or "not being wasteful" - heck no - he is just DOING WHAT CREATES THE BEST ALIBI FOR HIMSELF
so he a cunning manipulator deceiver con artist and extremely calculated cold blooded monster, and he often makes you die on your own from suffering, and he creates the suffering - or he turns others against you so that he seems innocent
******he is 100% evil and you are totally missing it. THAT IS PRECISELY WHY SUCH A MASTERFUL SOCIOPATH IS SO DANGEROUS -
HE IS A MOST VILE EVIL MONSTER, VERY CAREFULLY CAMOUFLAGED AS "NICE"

Nah those dudes are NEVER manipulated lmao They know full well what they are doing. They sleep around and cater to their women and do politics to exalt their own as@. Never ever ever ever believe that some king is "manipulated" lmao it is 99.9% sure he is manipulating others :) and making deals, wheeling and dealing, and collecting points for HIMSELF
You think a maid with no power would be exactly like someone with power of high ranking concubine?! Do you have…
I think you missed a lot of the story. FL was always behaving like a royal concubine lmao she was always a very tough girl - aggressive and revengeful and self defensive
WAIT, she's a weak FL???? T . T Oh no, I was about to start this!
\i forgot which episode it was. When we saw her as a new maid and other maids bullied her - so she attacked them - and so the other maids ganged up and put her into a wooden box where the Masked Prince found her.
Later, FL was on the roof top at night preparing some nasty surprise revenge to the other maids, and Masked Prince shot her down
I feel your pain. I had a similar relationship with my mother but I decided to cut any contact with her almost…
I did too :) I moved to the other side of the globe when I was 18 lmao But I spent last 3 years taking care of her - and in retrospect, I should have left. But it was good to stay and see for sure. But then I should have left after I was sure lmao. But it was hard to find a replacement for me. I basically helped her live her last days well.
you know, i am agreeing with you, which is sad, bc i am a fan of FL actressbut for some reason she is too taken…
hm how to explain it... . this is very subtle .... and perhaps you cannot see it so maybe this is all waste of time to try to explain, but i will try
there is a difference when an actor as themselves does something and when the actor in the character does something. You can see it and feel it. It is like a totally different person is there there is a very subtle but palpable difference
So i was talking about actor as themselves, not in the role
you are right, the role does require it after a certain point - but not always ....
I am off from here now so I probably cannot continue this discussion. Bye.
my mother was hospitalized for a while so I fell behind on dramas - and cannot watch most of them now. But this one is still interesting, and actually, even more so. REally good acting and script
