Then.. conservatives took over. They closed all nightlife and exiled all musicians, singers, etc. and MANDATED HIJABS. Yes, the new government mandated the hijab following the 1979 Iranian Revolution, though it was implemented in phases rather than overnight lol says Wikipedia to make it more palatable

SO THIS DRAMA REMINDS ME OF THAT SITUATION.
Kdramas just started having professionally competent and independent FLs and even gender equality...
and then this super conservative drama takes us back to ... some ancient sexism. Arghh! This drama's plot is almost entirely making fun of stupid actions by a woman. Someone is determined to keep the dinosaur sexism alive and well.

This drama will ruin so many women in Korea bc it popularizes that women are stupid.

PS - And it is also worth mentioning Havana, Cuba, where communists also closed all nightlife and musicians / singers from what later became Buena Vista Social Club all had to retire overnight. Yes indeed sexism is global and has a very specific "look" in different cultures. In Iran it is hijab, in the USA is the Barbie Doll promiscuous look and behavior, push bra and heels and cleavage, and in S Korea it is that "otuke look at the stupid thing I did omg I am in trouble omg I am stupid bang bang on the wall" cringe face look And yeah being "kind" and "taking care of others"

This drams is a sobering testimony that sexism is the same as before. Here it is fed by worshiping "cute guys".

Luckily in recent years, FLs have become at least professionally competent and successful, and clutzes only in personal life. These days, there are even strong and independent FLs. That is progress

But then you see this drama and it makes me feel like I am walking streets of Seoul and what do I see... this elementary school girl in 20+ year old body as a normal thing and even admired as sociable by her colleagues at work. She is pathetic. I give her 1-2 episodes to grow up fast.

FL like this has a cheesy lousy script and does not act.
MLs often get good script, more complex roles, and they are often pretty good actors BC THEY PRACTICE MORE, they have more and better roles.
In this drama, both MLs are very good actors and have pretty good scripts. But the overall script plays on the STUPIDITY OF FL BC PPL FIND THAT FUNNY. THat is the scary part. Everyone knows to laugh at stupid women.
This drama will ruin so many women in S Korea bc it really puts down women.

You know - who cares for Jason Burne and poker faces??? I do NOT. He should talk to a psychiatrist to get his life in order and be a fully alive human being.

I am here to watch a Korean drama. Not a cheap imitation of a cowboy movie, Jason Burne of a Japanese jakuza.

but he grew up. He eventually took great care of Woo Ju and the kiddo was very attached to him and very close.

Why did she pick him? bc he was there and reliable and already made family with WJ , he was such a great dad, WJ loved him and they were so cute hanging together. I remember them being outside for a walk or bubbles... feeding WJ... putting him to bed... They really bonded

the Boss dude was all for show, he chased the chick, and did not really take good care of WJ. I remember there were scenes that made me think he had NO IDEA what the kid needed - and did not care either. Ah yeah I remember - HE TOOK FL OUT ON DATES AND THIS SHE MISSED TAKING CARE OF WJ. That is sooooo inconsiredate and so bad!!! He would have been a terrible father

soooo many, cold/CEO ML is one of the most overused tropes. There are ZILLION bad dramas with that plot. The ones I mentioned above is ones I liked that came to mind first

Yes she is the main character and gets most time of the screen ...... bc she hogs the screen WITH 2ML AS HER "PARTNER" and then once in a blue moon, we see her again in scenes with ML.

And then we see ML alone or with WooJoo - just a little bit, but bc both are such great actors, they steal the show!!!!1 minute of them is more fun and memorable than hours of ML and 2ML who are boring to watch.

Having FL as the character with most screen time was a DISASTER.

First, the actress is just terrible. She on the screen just kills the drama. It is soooooo boring!!!!!! she looks chronically exhausted and unalive. So skinny frail confused lost.. She looks like she needs rehab and a psychiatrist and is totally unfit to act. She cannot act. She has one face all the time - the confused lost face. It is terrible to watch that. I was ffding through all her scenes. SHE IS ILL AND CANNOT ACT

Second, FL script was terrible bc FL and 2ML hog most of the drama. Supposedly 2 guys are there for her but she spends most time with SML . ML role here was totally wasted. And that is a pty bc he is a really good actor. he was just thrown under the bus.
