Well there you go, jumping into your own mouth - you are saying he is EXHAUSTED, which is a feeling / his state.

But nowhere do I see that actually he IS exhausted. He doesnt look exhausted to me at all. He looks the same now as he was in ep 1. Calm and all put together piece of cement, without any emotion as he interacts with people.

I dont see that he is focused... I dont see ANY of his feelings. Sometimes you get a glimpse through his eyes but it is rare

FYI Ppl have feelings as they go through their day, esp in a nasty situation like this. We did see ML angry during kidnapping. We say him sometimes confused or worried.

But ... it is not enough. Those scenes were rare. It is as if her were dead in the scenes in between

Yes I realized later that it must have been VIP surgery bc only rich guys got the stem cell operation.
But VIP issue was not mentioned as a reason to keep TJ in surgery.
Dr.Ko genuinely was saying that TJ just started connecting the nerves and thus cannot leave the surgery bc the patient will become disabled.
The reason to keep TJ in the surgery was PURELY medical, nothing to do with VIP status.

As you said, TJ just had to stay there and finish what he started.
Families of ppl who do these kinds of jobs are just stuck with it.
For example, if you are a family with a fireman, policeman, president, etc there are times where your family member CANNOT be contacted, period. That's the nature of their job.

As for filming: the director shot ML as if shooting magazine photos or advertisements, not a drama/movie ... which show ppl moving and their body langiage
IN THIS DRAMA THERE IS LITTLE OR NO BODY LANGUAGE for too long, which makes it balnd.
. In this drama, we have toooo many closeup shots of ML's face, where he barely moves his muscles, and his body is still. He uses his body only when he fights or walks around, He does NOT move his body when he is speaking. He rarely speaks, and when he does, he barely moves his lips and his voice is in whisper tone, and his body is still

I think the director wanted us to admire ML's face or maybe was inspired with Ingrid Bergman movies where the entire movie is just her face...
BUT HECK WHERE IS THE REST OF THE BODY??? THERE IS BODY LANGUAGE!!!! So this tells you about lack of grounding and physicality in Western life, and focus on mental, literally head stuff, pun intended.. and it makes the whole "movie" feel so unalive... . .

So this drama feels bland to ppl who are tired of seeing experssionless faces. ML and MaleKidnapper are both unalive expressionless. That gets boring.

ML role is a genius surgeon, an introvert, but he is filmed as if he were some kind of autistic / eccentric person who just does not communicate with others and just STANDS there like a piece of cement - unless he is operating. ML role went too far .

ML actor is a very skilled actor, and has expressive eyes, so he can show micro movements and subtle exprerssions with his face ALLUDING to the feeling underneath... , and he is handsome to many so some ppl might enjoy just seeing his face... but that is ... boring.
The first part of this series is mostly fight scenes and unalive closeup shots... and lack of meaningful interactions...

This drama was saved by the change in direction to SHOW RELATIONSHIPS.
It started in ep where we see Killer Couple interact. THAT WAS THE FIRST ALIVE SCENE IN THE DRAMA. Maybe the goal was to show the drama from ML's perspective - show how unalive ML's life was before he was thrown into kidnapping and forced to FEEL - at least, anger - and COMMUNICATE with other ppl - and how the kidnapping opened his world into more communication... but ... imo the drama should have not dragged it that much

Luckily that new direction showing RELATIONSHIPS is kept in ep 9, 10 and finally we see better how various characters interact and relate and what kind of beef is between them...
and also FOR THE FIRST TIME, we get to see ML and FL actually TALK.
(Well not really yet lol - she asked, he answered cryptically, she translated it into the whole story. There was no feeling there on his side. She was moved but ... Did they even hug at the end??? The scene was like a master hearing from their servant.)

So the main fault of this drama is lack of human interaction and dialogue.

PS - and reviews are like that - they focus on - he did that, she did that - but there no description about feelings and relationships. So I had to write a recap.
LIKE TELLING THE STORY OF HANSEL AND GRETEL LIKE: two kids went to forest and to witch's house, she enticed them to come in but then captured them, and then they escaped. The end. WTH. How about kid's naivette and greed, witches excitement and cunning, kids angst and fear, and finally communiciation and bravery. Without that, the story or a recap does not make any sense. It is just a mechanical list of actions - he did that, then she did this. WHY? HOW? WHAT FEELING, VIBE, INTENT?

The key characters are A RICH FAMILY THAT OWNS A HOSPITAL THAT DOES SPINAL SURGERY AND MEDICAL RESEARCH.
Dad (Dr.Ko,chairman of the hospital), Daughter (FL, some kind of director in the hospital), and Son-in-law (ML, a key surgeon in the hospital) all work every day in the hospital in key positions.

Dr.Ko does shady and illegal stuff in the hospital, with the help of many hospital staff, and ML/FL do not know.

The hospital was doing research in spinal surgery with stem cells and had a very successful project where ML operated on ppl and used stem cells. That conference at the start was about that.
So ppl knew it was his research. Was it necessary to kill him to get his name off the "patent" .. ?.

ML DIDNT KNOW that they illegally used fetal stem cells. Was it necessary to remove him from the hospital so that he could never find out?

Dr.Ko used those illegal cells intentionally. WHY? This is MAJOR CRIME BY DR.KO. WHY was he doing it?

So WHO WAS SUPPLYING DR. KO WITH FETAL STEM CELLS AND HANDLING SWAP WITH REAL STEM CELLS?
Bc... patients and ML believed that the stem cells used came off their own bodies So someone had to come in and pretend to take a sample from the patient... put it under that patient name... and then someone had to swap it with illegal stem cells...

So far we know that Dr. Han, ML "good friend" doctor closely work with DrKo in shady stuff. Is Dr. Han involved in collecting fetal stem cells? e.g. from KillerWife?
We dont know yet what "good friend" does exactly.
We also know that Phychologist Dr.Cha has a role.

======== PSYCHIATRIST ==========
One of the shady hospital employees is Psychiatrist. She was the person who was fueling hate between ML and FL and leading to their divorce. This part is quite interesting bc Dr.Ko seemed to want ML to leave the hospital but not to divorce his wife?

Psychologist manipulated ML and FL so that ML be shunned and rejected by Dr. Ko and his wife, and kicked out of the hospital... or even killed? It worked pretty well as everyone was hostile to ML, but he still did not leave... he asked for divorce but DrKo and his wife did not accept it...

Maybe bc he was not leaving or bc it was the plan from the start, the Psychiatrist - and who else? decided to .. kidnap/kill him. So the Psychiatrist hired the killer couple to kidnap/kill ML. ( In the past, the KillerWife was in the prison and Psychiatrist was her psychiatrist, and they kept in touch when the KillerWife got out of prison. )

WHY DO THEY WANT ML REMOVED? That part I am not sure of. **** How was ML in their way? ***** WHO are "they" - did Psychiatrist work in collaboration with Dr.Ko, on her own, or under someone else? What was the psychiatrist really trying to do? Did they want ML to just leave the hospital, or they wanted him killed?
Possible reasons:
ML was the only surgeon doing the acclaimed innovative research project surgery with stem cells - but he did not know the hospital illegally used fetal stem cells.
***DR.KO INTENTIONALLY USED ILLEGAL FETAL STEM CELLS**** So... WHO UNDER DR.KO WAS HANDLING SUPPLY AND KEEPING OF ILLEGAL FETAL STEM CELLS ? Was it ML's "good friend doctor? Psychiatrist?

WHO WAS THE PSYCHIATRIST? a lone thief, a spy, a pawn of Dr.Ko?
Was she working as a pawn under Dr Ko, in his illegal scheme or not? Maybe she wasnt into illegal stem cells and Dr. Ko used her to manipulate ML into leaving the hospital? Maybe she was greedy and decided to blackmail DrKo or to sell the secrets to someone else. WHY did she hire the kidnappers?
Was she a lone thief or a spy trying to somehow profit from the project? eg steal the "patent" and sell it without mentioning ML's name?
Was she under Dr. Ko, as the supplier / keeper of those illegal fetal stem cells?

So when ML's daughter had the accident, ML was doing a stem cell spine operation. So it was definitely a VIP client bc Dr.Ko let only rich ppl get that treatment - but the issue was not that it was a VIP client, but the timing. ML COULD NOT LEAVE THAT SURGERY

Dr. Ko received the call that ML's daughter needs surgery BUT ML WAS JUST CONNECTING NERVE ENDINGS and if he left at that moment, the patient would have been permanently disabled. So Dr. Ko decided to let ML finish that surgery - and another surgeon got to operate on ML's daughter - and the daughter died.

ML knew this and chose not to tell his wife, to "protect her from harsh truth" - in other words, he behaved like his wife was a child and he was her guardian who makes decisions on her behalf.
DID DR. KO TALK ML INTO STAYING SILENT TO PROTECT HIS WIFE? I do not remember that but some users mention that. ML was silent from the second he got out of that VIP surgery.
Did the drama show interaction between ML and Dr. Ko later where they talk about DrKo not calling ML out of that surgery? I do not think so. I think that their talk is Dr.Ko refusing to accept that ML will divorce his wife.

ML's wife attacked him for not operating on their kid, he never said a word and did not even comfort her. The wife did not come back to apologize for her attack and to ask him where he was and what happened, and he never volunteered to say it, SO THEY WERE AT WAR FOR YEARS AND HE FINALLY ASKED FOR DIVORCE
and Psychologist manipulated both of them towards divorce.

DID the psychologist push towards divorce under Dr.Ko's knowledge and/or directive?

But he didnt WANT to tell her.
So ... the disaster starts from there

She was sympathetic when she finally forced him into a dialogue - where he barely uttered like 2 sentences and she had to say what he was trying to say. She showed feelings and care for him and he just stood there like a piece of cement. Did she/he come to hug at the end of that scene? I dont remember.. I just remember that it felt ... bland and distant. Definitely not feeling like a couple but like a master questioning her servant.

It is a crime thriller, crime within hospital the led to kidnapping and many murders

The divide between them was fueled by the Psychotherapist, who wanted ML out of the hospital asap WHY? we dont know yet. Maybe bc he didnt know they used illagal fetal stem cells?

yeah she was SUPPOSED TO come to ML after their's kids accident and say I am sorry I yelled at you, please tell me what happened .. But .. he wasnt going to tell her anyways... Both were so bad

The villain is scary bc he is so unalive and then suddenly springs into intense rage, and has all the tech toys to be effective. What makes him even more creepy is his love for his wife. It is clear he is mentally off. But yeah after a while, he is boring repetitive adn thus not memorable. The effect of "new" wore off... and also, at at that time, ML was sooo unalive too, that the villain was more interesting :)
Now ML has somewhat come to life, so the villain is not as interesting

I dont remember that it was mentioned that it was a VIP patient - maybe it wa,s since ML was shown working with stem cells? Were stem cells used only for the special project ppl, as a part of research that ML was applauded for, and Dr Ko let only VIPs receive that surgery?
