Also, the USA has a STRONG epidemic of stealing money via condominiums and townhomes, i.e. anything which is a homeowner association (HOA) - bc each unit pays common monthly dues .... and all that money is governed by a few elected owners (Board members) and a property management company ... which has predatory lawyers.... SO THEY KEEP STEALING THAT MONEY AND EXTORTING FROM OWNERS....
Some s common tricks:
fine an owner for anything - e.g. for having potted plants in front of their unit ... and then keep issuing lawyer letters until there is a huge bill and then they TAKE YOUR APARTMENT to pay that bill.. without court. They just take it.
OR the Board issues orders that every apartment pays HUGE amounts of money for "common repairs". Whoever cannot pay, their unit is taken... without court.
OR the Board sues a whistleblower owner for something totally false, made up and bogus, their lawyers submit a huge bill for their fees, and then "their" judges condemn the owner - and the owner's apartment is taken to pay for lawyers' bills...

and then it is all hushed hushed.... proprty mngmt companies have huge money and give money to legislators.. Such ppl have organization CAI that spends $20 mil per year to lobby on their behalf... Judges are immune ... and all connected like spaghetti....
In Hawaii, a judge is on the Board of Hawaii Rotary Club... previously was on Boards of Builders Association, Hawaii Bar, ..... Another appellate judge presides over / handles appeals of attorneys with whom he personally worked for years and decade(s) while he was a partner in their law firm for about 30 years... so - his buddies can do whatever they want in the lower court, the appeal will always be in their favor... AND THEN APPELLATE JUDGES MOVE TO SUPREME COURT so the corruption is totally sealed :)
Judge allows HOA to foreclose on property and sell it on auction TO THEMSELVES for a few pennies... AND SO ON.

IT IS AN EPIDEMIC IN THE USA, apartments and town homes are taken from elderly, single women, and minorities the most at the moment, but that market will be totally dried up and then they will move up.
THE USA HAS MOVED TO THE ERA WHERE SMALL BUSINESS AND OWNING A HOME IS JUST DESTROYED - and also well paid jobs ...
so ppl are made into effective ... slaves... having to work for someone else for small money and having to pay rent....

THe production team should google stuff like HOA hell, HOA horror stories, etc
Florida Hammock case, foreclosure cases esp in N (or S?) Carolina - it got so bad there that even legislators started talking about it

But if you look at horror stories from Hawaii, Georgia, etc - the WORST states to own ... you will be so totally shocked.
NOTHING HAPPENS. E.g in Hawaii, two law firms took like 70 condos in 7 buildings, got sued - and nothing happened to them!!!! IT WAS NOT EVEN MENTIONED IN THE PAPERS/TV.... and now they are even worse....

And everywhere - NOTHING HAPPENS. Bc these HOAs are treated as separate municipalities and their own companies, .... and bc.... the developers and drug money have a stake....
Drug money has to be buying or building property....

So this HOA business makes "ordinary" people into profound criminals, any owner can be on the Board and start stealing.... and property management companies and their attorneys and judges are beyond imaginable.

The Court system in the USA - e.g Hawaii *for sure* - is totally like that Judge Returns drama - it is all rigged. Judges are appointed by the Governer and immune to anything they do. It is a total free for all. I have some amazing proofs and stories.

and I have seen horror stories from many other states. There are owner groups and individual owners online who post their stories

So this has major special effects - does it have content?
What's the catch? Disney never makes real kdramas. So what is this?

I think he is just great - a scheming chair commander - perfect! and what is his relationship to the only female commander?

i am somewhat grateful it is an unrealistic fantasy, i really would not enjoy a REAL military drama.
I wonder why they picked military? I think to emphasize his isolation and desolation.... and his grief... and his healing process and how he was FORCED to find his true life calling, cooking, which is also a connection to his father. And I also think for business reasons, there are lots of male actors and probably female audience - and queer audience - would love to see them all, this is like a BL drama but a straight drama. To be honest.
Also, this is a great recruitment and PR for the military :) One of those things, like advertising having babies, etc. Korea is in deep bc their birth rate is GLOBALLY the lowest..

and perhaps ... ML's father's death and money scheming and someone taking his father's restaurant - and killng his father... ???? perhaps it is related to some of the ppl involved here, like ... the assemblyman... who I suspect is involved in swindling kitchen supplies money

that kiddo is traumatized, his father died in a rather strange way - was he killed, or what... ? seems like he was forced to sell his restaurant to some shady dude... we saw those scenes...
and the kiddo was "addicted to video games" so perhaps these screens helps him to relate to the outside world and deal with his grief.
Something is fishy with the kiddo. He is just too .... depressed and spaced out . But he is starting to heal with the cooking. It is a connection to his father too... and his own life calling as well. he even made some friends and even a following. He is plugging into life again. He will be fine

i am visiting my mother so no kimchi here and there isnt even the right cabbage kind for me to make it myself.
The western sour cabbage is made out of very thick rough cabbage that is so hard to digest.
I need to somehow get hold of kimchi or somehow adjust the recipe for this kind of cabbage. The round thick heavy cabbage. Can be green or purple.

Kitchen Soldier is very cute :) That skinny kiddo is a great actor for this role, just fabulous.
The drama is really well advertising Korean food and we are all in a mini cooking class, and I love it.
I already introduced kimchi fish stew into my diet thanks to kdramas :) and kimchi is a huge part of my diet - ofcourse the LITE kind not too spicey :)

But now seriously - this is a rather "happy and light" rosey glasses military drama so we are glossing over a lot, but I am 100% fine with that, I didnt really want to watch a miliatary drama :) The drama does mention issues like bullying, red tape, N Koreans, corruption, politicking, etc and luckily keeps it light and fun. So as long as we all understand that it is not the real thing, great.

That N Korean rock concert on food was hilarious. There are lots of details like that that are unny. I loved the cat :)

The main point is that our kiddo, who STILL wears that yellow pin of risk, finally found his life calling and is starting to LIVE again, yay. He smiles sometimes now. He even made some friends, and very soon will be healthy again. Well... after he gets his stamina... That skinny kiddo gotta eat his own food :)
WE NEED TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENED WITH HIS FATHER. Why did he die. it was some kind of ... money scheme. That dude gave money to father for his shop... WHY. And how did father exactly die, I forgot... ?
And the Assembly man must be involved in syphoning money from the kitchen ingredients, that is why he is making sure he swindles the public and portrays himself as the person who ensures quality of soldiers' food. I bet he is the one behind supplying stale rice etc and pocketing the difference. THE QUESTION IS, WHO ON THE BASE IS HIS ACCOMPLICE?

Also, that ONLY lady that was denoted - what's up with that. Something is fishy. That dumb greedy local dude commander - charming handsome dude witih big ears - calls her by first name and a tone like she was his ex wife. The other higher dude asked her if she has trouble. WHY?

Whose chick was she and which dude retaliated or granted her wishes and sent her far away to this post?

Today I dont have time to watch later so I watched entire ep without subs. I understood what was going on lmao and it was FABULOUS to have time to see every nuance of the acting - bc the subs divert attention and then you miss on acting.
The acting is masterful! I had a great time watching without subs.

Today I was very impressed with MH's dad actor... that opening scene ... wow what a bser that dude is!!! he has manerisms of an old fat affectionating woman.... THAT ACTOR IS SO NAILING THAT ROLE! omg!

and his wife... omg... the flipping of zucchini fries lmao she had to fake even that..

FL's dad is so handsome when he smiles. His acting should be more interesting now when he has to interact more and with more people.

SFL's younger brother got decorated like a Xmass tree and totally went flirting with the Writer... I was laughing so hard ..... are those ear things real? or he just glued them? That was hilarious lmao I can see the young brave with all his paraphernalia lmao He is strutting all his feathers ... and I wonder ... how will she get impressed... ?

The face and eyes of ML versus SFL over that gift ... I dont know if I should laugh or cry... She really is blind. It is truly tragic... I am not sure what the remedy *is* for someone like that.... ? And ML - always stays polite and that drags her on. He gotta CUT.

Nah, she was counting on the fact that he is almost crying and is too busy to look at her breasts. She just wanted to console him.

And also, she chose to console him in a way that is a signal to him that they are THAT intimate.
Basically, it was an indirect approval to be THAT close, i.e. an indirect invitation that indeed next time ... he can feel entitled to be THAT close and try something :)

Since so far we never saw them touch or kiss, basically no psysical contact although they are already kinda officially dating... she is now signaling to move on. Basically she is speeding him up, indirectly telling him that he should look at her at someone THAT close :)

So far he has been super careful not to overstep her boundaries and personal space, and he has NEVER tried anything physical. Well, now she is telling him to proceed NEXT TIME. And he is super smart - he has not abused this situation he was in. She put him under her cardigan to comfort him and he got his comfort and did not make any other moves.... AND he got his instructions for later :)

To say it in a very crude way, her action says - hey you should feel free to get your body very close to mine. Next time.... try something.

which old man??? if I had not seen all these complaints about 'old man and young girl" i would have never known!!!!!!!!!!! they look fine!!!! they are a great couple!!!!

I watch weekend dramas which are 50 eps - the current Recipe for Love is doing all right - and now a quite excellent daily family drama Our Happy Days of 30 min 100 eps.

Only with so many eps, you can have MANY different characters and situations and MANY side plots and GO DEEP into those stories.

Only with so many eps, you can address past stuff, intergenerational families, etc etc

Only with so many eps, you can show the process. E.g. in Recipe for Love, FL's mom got very ill - so you see family dealing with it. Many eps also leaves room for ... looking for missing children or parents, showng change of jobs / moving / marriages / daily life ...
BASICALLY YOU GET TO "LIVE" WITH THE CHARACTERS THROUGHOUT THEIR DAILY LIVES and see how they tackle problems and grow from it... You see them raising their kids, eating family meals, etc

There is just no other way but many eps :)

so yeah *good* long dramas are super useful

one such useful long drama is daily Our Happy Days, witih an excellent cast and excellent script. We follow several families and their lives and how they intersect. That drama is well done. No drama in that drama :) no delulu in that drama :) but very good dialogues, character growth, regressions :) twists mistakes redemptions....All characters are complex and twisty ... It is a really good drama, very "easy" to watch and quite inspirational, very CONSTRUCTIVE AND FUNCTIONAL, has a strong FL and a green flag ML and consists of well-done scenes, well filmed and put together. A classy drama :) Very unusual for a daily. Highly recommended

The other long dramas that might be worth watching are Once Again, My Father is Strange, perhaps Five Enough, All About MyMother, Iron Family before the end when ML turns mama boy, some parts of Beauty and Mr Romantic (to see the FL actress have fun with her village role), and now Recipe for Love. Maybe Queen's House after ep 25.
The plus side is, YOU GET TO SEE HOW PPL LIVE

and bad long dramas are a long waste of time lmao Like ... tripple amnesia plot, etc etc etc So many dailies are so makjang, for an audience that wants to see bloody revenges and pulling each other hair and having illicit kids and killing each other...... and it gets sooooo trashy and soapy....A Graceful Liar is one of those ...... OR the drama is sooooo dumb .... like Woman Who Swallowed The Sun. OR the drama starts looking promising and then just stops frozen, like For Eagle Bothers OR the drama tries to be too deep for the audience and the audience shoots it down ... like Our Golden Days with an outspoken FL, nasty selfish ML, social issues of retired ppl having to work, social issues of how much you owe to your parents, etc - the audience trashed FL as unlikeable, said old ppl stories are boring, etc... so the drama made a U-turn into familiar waters of stale cliches and tropes... and went under....

So you have to thread gently with longer dramas and check out a few episodes and/or ask around to find out if tt is trash or a real thing. But if you enjoy even a few eps, that's worth it
