My only concern is that she is too skinny and flat, looks like a huge linguini noodle, that is my complaint, so my "health radar" is screaming "danger danger danger!" every time I see her on screen

This drama is so well made. Wonderful scenes are made just by details of daily life. For example, every scene of Dai Chi and Crystal talking in their bedroom is just amazing. The yellow pajamas and satin green robe are swell... How she gets up to scold him, find out his scar, etc etc - it is all very masterful acting. Those two actor really make Dai Chi and Crystal seem real.
Fashionista me is in heaven. I love that kdramas ALWAYS have unique fashion styles for every single character. EVERY one in every single drama!!!!!!. Fashion notes: DaiChi's burgundy suit with crimson red - cream silk scarf-tie are amazing combo and looks so good on him! The crimson red look good when it shows :) Crystal has really funky wardrobe... Some of it is very classy, like her satin robes... Green, violet, etc... SR's mom has amazing wardrobe, that lacy white loose shirt is great. etc Chairman is so well dressed in some really sharp looking traditional clothes. However - nothing personal - but a young man has to wear that to really show it off. It would look great. Most men in historical dramas look amazing in those white underrobes. A daily has only 25 min episodes and tends to be makjangy BUT this drama is not that also Our Happy Days is another daily, it is great, more like a quality family drama

Our Happy Days is a daily but really a quality family drama, it is very easy and rather healthy there are villains and problems, but it is NOT toxic, it is a rather pleasant watch with great acting, music, costuming. VERY well done with a crew of experienced actors. FL is a strong and nice young lady. Overall, very positive, excellent artsy drama. .
Family Register is "ordinary middle class family" toxic, nothing over the top, no murders etc. but there is a sly bully, a narcissistic but practical 2nd "wife"/mom, a cheater dad, hostile 1st wife and her sons, naive and good ML and FL, etc. It moves fast, it is smart, and the plot makes sense and is realistic. Acting is all good but FL actress

Extremely interesting complex toxic personality YET practical rational and get-it-done person, and the actress is totally nailing it.
The most memorable to me is Ji Ni's mom. That actress is PERFECT in that role. That is such a complex, realistic role. That woman is a staunch narcissist to the core, yet she is extremely practical, makes deals, communicates, gets things done. Extremely remarkable. ML should not be catering anymore to his sister, bc he is just an ENABLER in a co-dependent relationship, making his sister more and more entitled and bitter and never healing from alcoholism. ML ought to help her break through that, not help her stay stuck. FL was smart to realize what her mother is like, and distanced herself, but FL just ran away without resolving anything.. Both ML and FL's problem is that they shut themselves self down by the orders of their family members very close to them, i.e. ML and FL were abused under the name of love, and are now reclaiming themselves. FL is ahead of ML in this process.
Imo the script here has a lot of potential, bc - although the story is cliche as all stories eventually are the same - life does not have too much variations lol this is still a unique story.... and the plot, at its core, is meaningful. This is not some ridiculous Crazyville or Boreville town. There are meaningful problems to be resolved - both ML and FL were overly loyal to really bad relatives and have lived all their life in suffering.
The drama is just filmed in a super slow motion and simplified. LIke... a low budget film for the masses. Well it is what it is, and perhaps this makes it more watchable by more audience esp western audience canNOT handle complexity and depth, so the dramas and movies tend to get "predigested" to not leave anyone confused. Also, bc of popularity of kdramas, they get produced in mass quantities so there is that "run of the mill" reality...
Wow I paused this drama and as I was tryng to figure out where I left off..... I discovered that I watched ep 3 already - but the plot is so ... meaningless that I did not remember any of it, until I encountered the little bit of dialogue that WAS meaningful.
The drama is super slow, ie super simplified. The dialogue, the actions, the scenes... are just ... in slow motion simplified. The content is spread wide and thin. It is like 1 spoon of butter spread over one huge 2lb loaf of bread. There ARE some meaningful lines, but spread thin.
ML actor acting is rather simplified. FL actress gets to act a lot bc her script is better, she has the meaningful lines and more complexity and expressivity in her script - bc she has more acting skillZ. I just wish she were not a skinny plasticized barbie doll.
To see a drama with TONS of meaningful dialogue, It is Ok That's Love from 2014 is my recommended romcom, Or, KimChi Family from 2011

Death is not really a penalty, the worst penalty is LIFE WITH REPENTANCE, and that is the only thing that can actually save that person's soul.
Chairman, HJ's mom, and YN are not human so I suspect there is no reason to keep them alive, bc they just will not change, so death is the only way for them to start a new chapter in another life where they are forced to erase their bad karma
HJ and his bio father have human characteristics, they have some heart altough they both participated in crimes. So imo a very happy ending would be that the bio dad takes care of mad insane mentally disabled HJ until he starts recovering and then they start nice from scratch.
