I am not sure of all the details between ML and lady doctor... But there is something going on. We saw snippets of her "counseling him" - as a doctor, or as a friend, maybe a lover?
I just saw how he was looking at her while she was helping him, and how too emotional and worried she was about him, and how concerned the "friend" was to see her in that state.

i am not sure. Chairman keeps on saying they gotta catch TJ. If he was such a doting father, he would be pushing to catch the other guy too. Something is OFF, big time. Perhaps Chairmain did not bribe the police but something is off.
The main detenctive is getting some hints that TJ is trying to help

Dai Chi is trash, as so many ppl mentioned, he keeps doing criminal activities and denying them, and he keeps getting others into trouble then behaving like it was never his fault. He killed G's father, framed someone else for it, and harassed G all his life. Dail Chi is trash.

But he is a fun villain... Fashion note: WOW Dai Chi looks just amazing in white shirt, opaque white west, and grayish-white wide tie. Wow! Looks amazing with his shiny black hair and complexion.

I never liked so much use of black and white in Asia, it seemed too austere and lacking color and vibrancy, but now I can see WHY - it looks good on them. It really looks good!!!! This is one of his best looks. The contrast between pure white opaque vest - it is so opaque and so pure white that it somewhat "shines" but the shirt is thin so the shirt white kinda fades away the white color effect so it is not overwhelming, and then, the little mixed gray in the tie, and his shiny black hair and eyes, all together, it is just amazing!
For the same reason, navy blue and various shades of blue look good bc they match the silver-bluish shine in the hair. But this white vest was one of the best looking pieces of clothing ever

Pink suits objectively did not look so good :) but they conveyed the message of who he was trying to be - a gang boss, a mobster, a luxury man.

oh dont be fooled. He is an amusing villain but he is a villain - first of all, he is officially a criminal, stealing into his slush fund, and he was nasty all his life to G. But he killed G's father.

Dai Chi is beyond crummy, he is trash

The dramas are written for brainwashing
so the drama is used to train new generations about "correct behavior" which is blind obedience to parents, no matter how stupid disfunctional and/or harmful the orders are

I love this true statement - "Anything that can happen after 11pm can happen before 11pm. " That should be in every parent's handbook

I think in real life a lot more things can happen after 11pm bc there are parties at night, there is drinking, drugs, hookups. and everyone is doing it, so your kid can be more easily pulled into it

but spending the whole day all alone in a studio definitely does NOT need the night in the studio lol But they are busy working during the day. At night, one can relax and take time to have fun

Imo the characters here are a mixed bag, most have good and bad sides, and some are 100% evil, like Mei and so her husband consents to that and acts evil too. And even 1st wife gets pulled into evil.

FL is a decent person, and ML too - but he is naive so far. FL is immature as well. FL grew up with two REALLY NARCISSISTIC SELFISH parents so it is a miracle she turned out well.
ML also grew up with his really dumb materialistic parents.... but he has a good heart and he feels what is right. He is a nice guy. FL is a very nice person too. They are confused ppl but are nice ppl and always try to do what is right and to be kind.
FL's friends are nice ppl.

FL's mom is ... a staunch narcissist but at least a practical one...
1st wife is .. a bitter confused person but has a lot of good in her

ML's dad is a nice person and his mom is just greedy dumb.

The youngest son was super rude crude but he is not a bad person and so far he cooperated a little, he and FL will be good friends soon.
Older son is a more level person but he has his really truly evil wife, and she keeps fooling him. He is too naive and believes her. Once he saw she faked crying... hopefully ... he divorces her soon. She is not going to be changing... She is just evil to the core.

So I see a lot of problems and strife and also solving them. The only ppl who imo will never become "nicer" are Mei, FL's mom and ML's mom.
The rest are ok... They did the funeral ok...

So ... imo this is not totally Kwood drama, it is still a kdrama.
The Kwood was Graceful Liar, that was a whole bunch of really bad ppl there was NOBODY who was a good person.

I was intending to write long time ago how HJ's bio dad is such a nice father,
Begining of Monday ep scene with HJ, dad and MJ was a masterful dialogue. This drama sometimes has really deep and meaningful dialogue. That's why I am still watching. Esp dialogue related to HJ tends to be really well written (and acted).

So - HJ is * O U T * and I am glad he is suffering knowing that he helped in murder.
YuNa had ONE second where she was wondering what to do... wow what a huge character development lol YN is the same as Chairman Brutus, not human whatsoever. It was hilarious when someone wrote YN cannot possibly be an evil person bc she is pretty

and the team Dumb Avengers is really pathetically dumb ... they still do not connect the dots that Chairman Brutus will kill anything in his way, literally... and that police works for whoever pays them. The team Dumb Avengers KNOWS all that kinda stuff keeps happening and STILL never takes precautions and gets surprised when Brutus crushes ppl. THAT is the bad part of this drama, script based on stupidities of Dumb Avengers - who are women

But if NMH did not try to kill him, he would do nothing

He lost NMH bc he was tending to the dying ex-policeman... That guy does NOT hurt or leave hurt anyone ... unless of course someonw is attacking him then of course he will defend!!! at that point is it sheer survival

ML's grandma story should be there bc MLs grandpa and son WERE/ARE very dark nasty characers :) The son is a low-level criminal, really, and grandpa is a dictator, and both are DUMB

The drama was made super simple to cater to even shallow audience
and the "cultural issues" you mention are not really THE cultural issues lol They are very basic issues anywhere
The problem with drama was that the script was just very poor and lazy

And the problem with this drama is not that it had "obey your family" issue but that IT LASTED TOO LONG. The entire drama was spent in the muck instead of working to resolve it.

This drama has NO social commentary beyond "obey your family", "what will other ppl think of us" and "how gossip destroys ppl and communities". It is a very simplistic and shallow fun-and-games drama, very similar to Hwood.

At least the drama could have done the little it tried properly and paced the plot properly.
The drama was writen as if it will be 100 ep drama. The pacing is AWFUL

Just like Iron Family, and Our Golden Days, this started well and ended in a ditch.
Iron Family was just amazing until ... the mama boy obeyed his mama... But - the audience does not love watching poor/disabled/old ppl and laundry service owners? The audience loves watching urban sleek young pretty rich? Imo Iron Family has some of the best scenes and acting, and funny moments. It is sad they made the Orphan poker faced, that actor is so good and I wish he was allowed to act more. OMG THAT DRAMA HAD SUCH GREAT ACTING!!!! I will forever remember scenes of FL's mother finding the Orphan, etc. The plot was KILLED with ML catering to his evil mother and dissing his love. I dropped it them.

Our Golden Days was such a great attempt at social commentary about obeying disfunctional elders, women who stand up for themselves and TALK! omg the sexist audience totally trashed FL there bc SHE TALKS!!! omg! how dare she!!!! then the social issue of retired ppl having to work... realistic young male character ML who is selfish.... etc but then it totally flopped... Bc there was no movement forward and there was too many stuck selfish nasty characters. It was just too much. Then the drama made the ML into a teenage idiot, FL into a naive damsel in distress, etc Ah it was ugly. I dropped that one.

And now this - seems like KBS decided to make something as close as happy-go-lucky Hwood and keep it simple, stupid, and just avoid ANY social issues except something very basic, like WHAT WILL OTHER PPL THINK OF US and how gossip destroys people and communities

OK... so it started as a great comedy family drama and ended up as just mucking in muck until the last minute. Seems like some was resolved at the end but seems like magically overnight.
FL's mother and grandma are HATERS TO THE MAX, and ML's stepmom and father are actually low level criminals. ML's grandpa is a dictator moron. ML's Aunt is just dumb and weak.
The only characters that had anything in them are Uncle - but he fizzled out by the middle -
then FL's brother, and Mi So from Baltimore.
ML is "a good guy" but he is too good to be real and thus his character is boring
FL's designer friend is "a good guy" but the actor is very weak so it fizzled
ML's chairwoman friend "is a good gal" but again her character was written so badly and was not interesting

FL treated ML as crap
and then magically transformed at the end? Same with FL mom and dad, ML mom and dad, ..... Common. That's lazy writing. Also, having ML as this super dedicated good guy. Heck. He should have bolted out long time ago. Why bother catering to a very selfish fickle immature FL

This computer is so tricky so I often lose what I wrote so I will retype real fast:
The old dramas at least had characters who looked normal, healthy ppl, with natural skin and a fit normal body, and the old dramas were ENERGETIC and EXPRESSIVE - maybe there were some poker faced ones but there are plenty of expressing
There was fun, community, dialogues, lots of actors, different ages, families, etc the plots were complex

and now the new dramas on the positive side have women who are at least very competent at their job, but yeah as soon as it comes to private life, they are TOTAL morons, clutzes, flakes....
and all actors, male and female, are super skinny, pale, pasticized, and very tired looking, and the plot is soooo simple, the characters are simple, they barely move or do anything, there is no community, there is no humor, ie. it is Kwood not kdrama ''
about very super bland romances between ML and FL without involving anyone else much

So in some ways things are tiny bit better, but not really. It is actually WORSE imo
The sexism is still there huge huge huge - all 2025/2026 rom coms except Positively Yours and Spring Fever were about flakey weak women and a calm guy who "guides" the stupid woman
and that theme continues in thrillers, etc
Thrillers now just do NOT have female characters. Foreigners like Dsny are notorious for that.

Now kdramas have lots of scenes of crazy car chases and such fillers.
There are tons of rather violent and pornographic BL dramas.
Often, I find there is nothing worth watching so I just watch old kdramas.

The missing pieces are "baby on board" sticker and the cross and prayer bench and insistence on victims to pray
