I think "normal" kdramas are made as the drama airs and audience feedback is taken into account. Now there are tons of global westernized audience and Chinese-roots audience and they imo ask for very crude things and do not understand the fine humor and light in real kdramas, so ... chasing $$$$$ to appease the $$$$$$, kdramas go to trash

Netflix drama that releases all episodes at once is already made, and Neflix thinks only of $$$$, so it never risks humor, heavier topics, etc and goes the safe mainstream commerical route, so you basically get a Hwood show with Asian actors and a little less s.x and violence and evil,

and yeah those who know what kdramas are SUPPOSED to be and CAN be, are totally disappointed.
meanwhile, western audience is totally mesmerized since even the trashiest kdrama is a LOT better than Hwood cesspool

they are copying A Graceful Liar, since it was popular - with complaints about the second half

GoldDigger Mom has the lipstick and wanted to use it once - it was a scene of her getting ready to go out with the Chairman - and she took it, looked at it, and put the lipstick down saying she wont use it BC IT IS TOO STRONG RED COLOR AND NOT APPROPRIATE so basically bc she doesnt want to wear a red lipstick, she never even opened it...

Imo, these comments that there was too much romance and it ruined the show are very demeaning, cheap comments that show extreme cruelty and meanness and certain inner ... illness.... of not tolerating happiness and romance and needing to have some blood. I HAD TO MUCH OF IT.

This is one of the things that would make me drop this drama and never come back. WHen the audience is so blood thirsty.
Hollywood shows and cdramas are a lot better venue for that. They got the crudeness and blood anyone would ever wanted. Why spoil kdramas with it.

Imo this drama does NOT have too much romance, actually it has too little. revenges can be done with romance, JM and BH were a team, esp since JM is so idiotically DUMB and must have help, and the job is too big for one person, no matter how smart they are.
JM behaves prude and standoffish like the old time kdrama sexism, it is what it is, asian dramas are super sexist that way and women are portrayed as kids. We should be asking for THAT to change, instead of asking for a super dumb woman to lead the show.

Ppl say that drama production teams do not read MDL for feedback, but if whatever they read has these requests for bloody revenges, they will make it so and that is ... so.... trashy.

I do not want to block you since you say perceptive things too and I want to hear your opinion, but I want to write it down that I really think asking for some bloody revenge is ... crude and unproductive, leading to a really dumb plot and a cheap drama. and I dislike it.

Ah the goose father corporate rat ... plus a very dumb spoiled brat mother who "hijacked" the kids.... PLUS mom and dad never talk and always do things for public image and getting ahead ... i.e. two space cadet parents floating in outer space... totally lacking common sense... Dad was researcher for 30 yrs and doesnt know that seedlings need holes in the box to breathe.... !!!

It all adds up .... and the result is 3 space cadet kids who are totally distant and rude crude to their dad, play the mother, and the whole family is totally disfunctional, never talks about anything, and everyone keeps secrets, and the kids are at great danger bc they are TOTALLY off the rail tracks and floating in outer space, the kids have no roots and support

I am glad goose father is trying something - but trying in a totally wrong way - and hopefully he will get it one day soon

It is a great fortune that the family ended up in the countryside and finally is getting real and grounded - and HOPEFULLY one day the village chief can tell the Matt story and ML can listen to it... hopefully :)

also this seems to be mostly global audience so you get to get a taste of what ppl used to s.x, violence, evil, and no character growth have been conditioned to watch.
... and also I think there are LOTS of trolls here that work hard to bring down ratings, almost like organized groups

The only good thing is that this is not a sterilized whitewashed "discussion" like on Reddit, which is totally useless....
On MDL, you can read what ppl are REALLY thinking.

So based on comments, you can see what kind a drama is :) Some commentary sections are unbelievable delulu, like... Dynamite Kiss. Practical Guide to Love, Pursuit of Jade, Perfect Crown, ... .... some are very mature, like Our Universe.... some are super bland mental, like Beyond Bar.... Some are like a huge restaurant, a lot of ppl chatting a lot, very happily, in very shallow ways, like Bon Appetit Your Majesty.... Some are like military/police rooms, like Made in Korea....
So yeah, this site is really great for learning about it all...

and for a meaningful discussion... well... another site is probably better :) if you know any, plmk.... I had some deep experiences on Dramabeans dot com but they are going quite shallow and commercialized ....
byrei.ink is a great blog.... On MDL, there is user Oppa_ who often has deep reviews minus the sexism, it is a very sexist vitriolic user but very perceptive...

Yeah that seems to be MBC trend, Woman Who Swallowed The Sun was also super dumb - i watched that drama to the end just of curiosity to see IF IT IS POSSIBLE to make it dumber... and it was :(

ep 1-2 were cringe of a hysterical woman who picked her guy and wanted him to dote on her instantly. Ep 3-4 are a nice love story. I really like that we got to see his cells and got to know him. Also, it is a relief that YuMi behaves maturely, finally.
He sent the deer, so he is already on the ship, sailing. Finally a pleasant ride -
and it is good he is 6 yrs younger, with his all nighters, no veggies and sausages and chicken, he is not gonna live too long :) he needs YuMi's care for sure

I lowered my review on this drama right now, it used to be 10 and now is 2,
and so I accidentally discovered why the rating went down previously

User @oppa_ wrote a bad review.... !!!! have you seen user oppa_ in the Discussions? their review claims thy watched 72 episodes and totally disliked it, gave it rating like 3 or 5....

That user @oppa_ actually has excellent reviews, minus the sexism. I learn a lot from their reviews, minus the sexism. I am always curious about their feedback. I dont agree with all of it all the time, and usually there is sexism too, but it is often very insightful.

That user is very sexist and I totally irritated them by questioning their attacks on women in drama Honour....

But then it became REALLY UGLY when I discovered that they are not a native English speaker - their old reviews are really bad English!!!! look like native Aisan speaker?, imo - so I politely asked about that and they replied they now use AI to write reviews... wrote some super nasty comments to me... and blocked me....

and now that user seems to be leaving bad reviews everywere where I wrote a good review... I am positive bc this is not a coincidence.

So my final conclusion is that @oppa_ user is doing something shady and perhaps is a part of some organized group that writes bad reviews.

In any case, I myself revoked my good review. I really dislike where this drama is going, into cesspool. If I wanted to watch Kardashians, I would not be watching kdramas....

WHY I LOST PATIENCE? It is ok that JM makes mistakes and I would not mind if she is toying with the idea of dumping BH to marry JH. That's fine. That is normal. She SHOULD be considering that as one option. But she SHOULD be rejecting it, based on some solid logic and previous experiences and information. and my concern that kdramas are going down and out is really being confirmed more and more. Kdramas are in serious trouble, trying to look westernized to appease $$$ audience.

Western audience WANTS to watch Kardashians, bc they have been trained for decades to watch s.x and violence and utmost evil, so they want to watch THAT, just slightly dilluted - bc THEY live in a world like that, without families, communities, genuine love and care. So they enjoy to watch needless sufering. And they ask for dilluted Kardashians.. and the essence of it is Kardashians. Which imo is 100% cesspool.

But I think the drama is going the cesspool way bc the audience kept asking for it, all those requests for a full bloody revenge.
