I appreciate your point. it is so frustrating to see evil not punished, but I am only on ep 6 so I'm now looking for the larger picture. I mostly watch cdramas and mostly costume historicals so if there's too much injustice showed I cling to the scriptwriters point of showing how rich, powerful and entitled sh*t on the rest of population just because they can and nobody is going to stop them. that's why humans for millennia told fables to give themselves a semblance of hope that evil will get it's comeuppance

and because I never watched stranger things that sentence in your review is a blip that doesn't matter. nice review, thank you.

I am really enjoying the awesome husband and dad in Blossoms of Power. that one is close to 10/10 for the reason of showing better parents than most cdramas

and he is awesomely consistent till the very awesome end of his role here

unfortunately he is on the way out as a lead and starting his director career so he will probably be only the villain from now on as he can do it without the damage to his career and is fully equipped to be the rotten scum we so love to hate. phenomenal actor.❤️👍😁

and when we get to the end he is just the father I wish for every lead character in cdramas😃

I am tickled that the blended family issues are being included in costume cdrama. just like in Eternal Joy with You here's an added bonus of assisting your constipated child expel the stinky poop 💩!😜😁😏 this was an entirely tongue in cheek story but very very enjoyable

this drama truly went all out to show what it's like to be dying and knowing it. Blossom tried but gave it up for the fear of losing the rating, so as a person with 8+ years working for hospice I tell you: the makers of this production really knew what they were doing. I love the peace but not resignation conveyed by the ml actor. his soft masculinity (I know it sounds paradoxically 😅) from the very start was crafted as a viable alternative to all the stoic, silent and permanently constipated males in other dramas. a man can be caring without being an ass, and a man is allowed to go out not with a bang but sad smile. in fact, please give me more male characters like these royal boys not afraid of loving deeply but not forcefully. I know that historically they may not have been such men in the real world, but I tend to think we have been spoonfed by historians and chronicles with a stereotype of the warrior/conqueror type that has been multiplied in arts for some or other reason. it's refreshing to see this characterization of a male in cdrama, just like it is to watch more plots involving couples raising kids (at this point mostly blended families), but leaning toward showing evolving of the marital relationship complete with dealing with kid's snot and stinky poop! check out recent project with song yi fan😜

I agree with you. I purposely rate the lowest possible points dramas with this portrayal, even if there's no intimacy with skinship because it perpetuates the child pornography and pedophelia. period.
there's no excuse for the actors to accept such roles unless they are bound by contract with a studio so I hope that dumb general public will wisen up at some point to reject this disgusting trend and actors start putting a decency clause in their contracts to save EVERYBODY from being traumatized and/or desensitized to quiet acceptance of both men and women abusing kids sexually.
sorry for the rant. I have been an exclusive trauma therapist for 12 years and know how the cookie crumbles: starts with silent ignoring the reality of abuse

man, all these great men loving and devoted to their wives, dead or alive! that's a first! usually cdramas have sons of bi***es pretty much forcing and disrespecting their women. I can get used to this...😏

what I like here is that men are not pretty dolls. handsome and interesting but not what fantasy dramas sometimes show. I mean compare dudes from Fangs of Fortune, well at least one of them, made up as unreal beauties, to the good looking guys here. very different. ❤️🔥👍

ah the curse of watching too many drama! almost everything reminds us of something we has seen before 😜 the bell in bed and kiss on the horse while he is behind her is the novelty here I think like slide to catch her and kiss from the horse were in Blossoms. I might start a list of "the first" in cdrama🤣🤣🤣

tbh, Chinese men in these dramas are sometimes so effeminate that if we go with that premise (I think men should be handsome and masculine and not pretty and effeminate) it makes sense that pretty boys are not that rare.
and BTW, I love lady boys and femboys!!!! just explaining to myself how a woman could pass as male in these shows.
Dominion and Devotion had a fl androgynous enough to question her gender...

my interpretation is that the dead wife's soul gets into the body of the XH when the younger one dies and while the transplant remembers XH's story from her own original life, she is kinda lost and not having much access to the memories of XH herself (confirming the names of people around as she wakes up in a stranger's body, and completely surprised by affection from her brother and father- that alone screams she didn't inherit the memories of the body she inhabits, but remembersl little -other than that one scene where her brother lets her win a race). we don't see the face of the princes poisoning herself in front of her husband and that also is strange- it's not like they had a shortage of actresses.
this show makes the experienced woman's personality take over the young princess persona (everybody says she has changed) but during the first 25 episodes gives her something she did not have in her original life: awesome, loving father and brother who (unlike her Gu family) do not force her or expect self sacrifice for the clan. the reason why she is so resisting the ml for so long is because she never loved before and I bet her devoted husband from the first life was also all sweet speech like crown prince but still a Confucian scholar (not accommodating her ambition and expecting her to fall in traditional role) so she is distrustful of her ml husband until she is proven wrong in her assessment of crown prince loyalty and selflessness.

looks like this was better than Exhuma and Haunted Palace for sure 👍 just started watching

well, fl actress was really good for her age. I am comparing her to that goofy kid who has been casted for over 10 years against stars and is still immature and bland in all her roles at 19 as well (Rebirth, Perfect Match, Love in a Dream).
