Okay guys, I think we can all agree that this episode was absolutely amazing. I was dying! I literally replayed…
Also today: "Find your path to survive. This is my final command to you."
All was foreshadowed in Episode 1 with the "unexpected rain shower". TV announcer:
Message: from the heart that was never conveyed. Story: something, something fox, lion True meaning: a blessing from a loved one wishing you happiness in your new life even when they cry.
episode 9 pre-release: cha segye sees shin seori's new script ๐https://x.com/SBSNOW/status/2062700940386595007https://www.tiktok.com/@sbsnow_official/video/7647421225643281685https://www.instagram.com/p/DZL1yRhABnI/
Thanks for posting. I love the way they keep the laughs/humor going w/out overkilling the brutal Joseon scenes (one reason I have dropped so many sageuks in the past).
How has it done in streaming numbers? I think signing up Park Eun Bin to anything that might require a season…
Someone posted here (a couple of weeks ago?) that in an interview, PEB said she would like to do Season 2 but it would depend upon the ratings. Which are gangbusters on Netflix.
Of course, would have to wait for Cha Eun Woo's release from serving his country (military) which is next year.
I saw the tweet mentioning this. But how do we know when Grand Prince died? When was that told? Also this kind…
I re-watched the "compatibility" scene in Ep. 8. One birthday was April 4, 1996 (presumably Se-gye) and the other was October 5, 1996. So, yes - 6 month gap in the modern era. Not sure where folks get the same timeline for the Joseon ML and FL or why the writer would even bother to note that. It may be important later in terms of when the King felt he could get rid of Kang Huibin??? The Grand Prince's knowledge was some sort of protection for her?? Seems lame.
Apparently, some viewers here don't think that if we come across a poster with signals that does point to romance,…
Yes, that poster. And also other promo magazine photos with just the 2 of them. I hope director isn't planning to push the envelope w/potential "ick" factor and then say - ์ผ (hey!), we TOLD you there was no romance.
Found this on Reddit: "The director replied that their chemistry would be like how women fall for men who resemble their fathers, so the daughter's heart will flutter for him in that same token. Just as how parents see their child as a baby no matter how they've grown, this is how the reborn father's love for his daughter will be portrayed in the drama."
"How women fall for men who resemble their fathers. . . . " Okay, that's ICK on steroids.
Finally was able to watch back-to-back episodes and the plot is a lot of fun.
However, what's with all the PR posters that imply there might be romance between the two young leads??? Gross. . . .unless the body/mind swap switches back at some point. Which would actually be fun if the soccer player is forced to continue whatever role Chairman Kang has created for him.
I'm more curious about director and writer combo. On the one hand, One Dollar Lawyer was funny in the first half…
I gave up on Cafe Minamdang, mostly because I couldn't stand the FL (a cop, iirc). But In-guk is a favorite, together with Krystal and this plot looks very promising.
according to the article the writer is a rookie called Kang Hyun Joo. https://news.mydramalist.com/article/im-ji-yeon-heo-nam-jun-s-my-royal-nemesis-gears-up-for-premiere
It's his first drama, but he's written some movie screenplays.
Guys in episode 1.There was a dialogue when there is suddenly an unforecasted rain. ML was in his office at that…
I wrote it all down in my notebook because it was obviously about Se-gye's past life.

So, I've been assuming that we will eventually get a scene where the Crown Prince decides that he's going to make Dam-shim part of his household and Joseon ML bids her farewell - or at least watches her leave with tears in his eyes.
Several weeks ago, someone on Reddit described the meaning of the "fox" in Korean lore - it can mean shapeshifter, usually a woman. That reminds me, I need to write-up something on the medallion in the intro.
๐ I'm not really a big fan of Cha Eun-woo's acting because I sometimes feel he struggles to show deep emotions.…
I never knew who Cha Eun-woo was until I watched this drama. Perhaps because I like rom-coms or straight comedies (like WONDERfools) and he hasn't done one since I began to watch kdramas. So jaw drop when I found out he has over 40MM Instagram followers and he's a big kpop idol as well.
Anyway, I was impressed that this "young" (and very handsome) actor was playing the straight man against the veteran wacky actors. His character is described as reserved, socially distant - so "deep" emotion (shouting, screaming, sobbing) isn't in the script.
The "romance" is subtle - subtle actions, not words. Hope there is a Season 2 - but will need to wait until he is released from military.
1. We don't know. Has not been revealed yet. Hopefully soon we will know.2. As per the character chart released…
Thanks for the response and details My research indicated that physical beauty/perfection was ultimate importance for women who might be queens but that only sever health impairment (including imbecile prince or extreme physical disability (sort of akin to your "severe physical deformity") might affect succession - that is, a younger son might be elevated in that situation.
Research also said that a "Grand Prince" was still in line of succession. So, The note that 2ML's mother became Queen after the original Queen died actually makes a lot of sense and therefor he absolutely is NOT considered "illegitimate" (again, I asked that specific question earlier of AI). Clearly, Crown Prince Jae continued to feel threatened by Grand Prince but since his father was still alive, I don't think he really wanted to accuse his brother of treason. He's apparently been trying to assassinate him, but finding an excuse to send him to exile helps solidify his position with his father, the King. just like Mun-do and Grandpapa.๐๐
Thanks for the info. I'm going to revise the Character Description to add the info re: Queen Min which helps understand why the Crown Prince is insecure. The intricacies of Joseon hierarchy probably aren't all that important except to help viewer understand motivations of 2ML - 300 years ago and today (desire for direct descendant to inherit).

I'm not sure where you get the idea that a disfigured prince is somehow ineligible to ascend the throne. I've checked thru various AI sites and they all say that injuries/scars/etc. did not prohibit a prince from ascending the throne. They all did say it is a common trope in kdrama land, lol but there is no historical precedent. And I also don't understand how Joseon 2ML is considered the son of a concubine since his mother is Queen Min. Are there interviews out there that make this distinction??
Since I prepared the Character Description in the Discussion forum, I want to get it correct (and I did base it off SBS and Netflix descriptions), let me know if there are other interpretations - maybe on X or Instagram. Tia.
This was so good! The story, the millennium backdrop, the 90s feel and nostalgia really hit the right spots. The…
Well, the character description for Lee Un Jeong is. . . . . reserved, socially distant, secretive. He's not supposed to be the comedic relief - he's the calm counterpoint to the three wackadoodle misfits.

He nailed it.
