Title My Girl
I thought they were remaking My Girl the Chinese drama which was super cute about a girl who has multiple personalities…
It was 2004 and I have a soft spot for that drama. It was one of the very first Kdramas I ever watched and the chemistry between the leads was so good to me. I rewatch it sometimes still just to feel the chemistry and angst lol

Why is every scene filmed to look hazy/dream-like? It's overused so it doesn't add character and actually distracts imo.

Title Are You Safe
This is an odd one for me to rate. This is not a bad drama certainly, but it's far from the taut, action-packed thriller I thought I was getting based on the trailers. The script is questionable and it feels like our protagonists make weird, verging on stupid decisions. I've only watched 4 episodes so we'll see. Also, Zhou You makes quite a pretty girl lol.

I watched one more episode just to see if anything had improved and not much did. Episode 15 is where I am officially ending. I'd rather invest the 15 additional hours this drama would require to complete elsewhere.

I don't have much hope in the handling of the mystery/time-travelling element considering the total floundering of the last 4 episodes. I'll wish you luck on your continuation.

You're not raining on my parade. I get it, we don't actually know how Chi Yu feels regarding Teng Xi, but I was mainly focusing on it from the female perspective with Teng Xi. It's still extremely refreshing to see a SFL not have romantic feels for the ML, even going so far as to give the FL advice regarding him.

And yeah, I actually do enjoy Teng Xi more than A Yin as she seems to only serve as romantic fodder in the 14 episodes so far. I need more to chew on than that.

But all this aside, I think I'm at the point of tapping out. Some of the few things that I've enjoyed in this show have taken an absurd turn and have become absolutely silly in regards to the mystery with Chi Yu. I couldn't believe the development of episodes 11-14 regarding the mystery lol. The mystery was what I was holding on to as the romance does absolutely nothing for me.

Goodness, I wrote an essay lol. But this was what got me excited in the last 2 episodes. Give me more Teng Xi!

There are some healthy concepts that I wish this show would expand on instead of the flat, for me, main romance. Episodes 11 and 12 were a bust for me as I mentioned earlier, but the few scenes I did enjoy, involved Teng Xi and her concept of love.

"Except for not liking me, he's perfect. But this is not his problem, it's my problem."

YES! YES! Praise the lord, YES! No one is obligated to like anyone back; a concept I wish others would realize when we measure how much we like, or enjoy, a character based on if said character, (most often the female), returns the affections of another character. I could paper my walls with the amount of comments or reviews I've seen regarding this.

"You don't have to feel burdened. Actually, I did all that because I was happy. But if it makes you uncomfortable, don't accept it."

No disillusion or expectation coming from Teng Xi. She is well aware that Jin A Bao doesn't like her; she may not like it, but she accepts it, and tells him that it's perfectly okay if he doesn't like her. She's not doing nice things for him because it'll get her somewhere, but because it's what she wants to do regardless of if he likes her romantically or platonically.

I don't want romance between Teng Xi and A Bao, but I sure as hell want their backstory. It's infinitely more interesting to me than the main romance.

And also, the pure friendship between Teng Xi and Chi Yu! Chi Yu and A Yin were under the impression that Teng Xi liked him and she let him know that he's just ONE of her male friends. Males and females can be friends without subtext. Hallelujah.

Chile, the way my score for this drama yoyos with each passing episode... Episodes 11 and 12 were boring as hell and some illogical aspects got some hearty chuckles out of me. Clichรฉs are part of the norm for dramas and are ok when done well, but that's not the case here. I do like the introduction of A Yin's brother and am kind of interested in his relationship with Teng Xi, which is more than I can say for our main couple.

Lol I liked in Ep 10 when A Yin was trying to figure out why Qin Yu was acting like an ass to her and was all,…
I feel like I've seen her as well.

I swear males just have to exist while female characters have to extra extra try lol. It's ridiculous. I'm sorry, but males don't have the automatic one-up just because they're by default not females. There's so much pressure put on female characters to the point where if you drop a drama, or you enjoy a drama less, 9 out of 10 times people assume it's because of the FL ๐Ÿ™„. I've become accustomed to it in dramaland just not yet desensitized to it, and I never will.

Ep 10: I like this quote: "No matter how good love is, it's not as good as money" LOL... preach, girl!
Lol I liked in Ep 10 when A Yin was trying to figure out why Qin Yu was acting like an ass to her and was all, 'Do you think there's any misunderstanding?' and her friend cut her off to tell her that he was bullying her and there's no need to find reasons to defend him. I was basically fist pumping because so often other characters (and especially the audience), try to deep dive into the fragile male psyche to find any excuse as to why he might act a certain way, while hardly ever allotting the same grace to the females.

This type of thinking runs rampant in drama watching communities unfortunately (this site included).

it's called noble idiocy... can't believe they use the trope this early in a drama...
It's such a tired, overused plot point -made worse by the fact that the romance aspect is handled the least well in this show. And as you said it's used extremely early on. It makes no sense to me as I'm not exactly sure when they even moved into the liking each other territory to even bring this cliche about.

I wish show would bring the FL into the mystery plot instead of basically relegating her to being a love interest.

Ep 10 is where we have the ML being an ass to the FL under the guise of trying to protect her ๐Ÿ˜

Episode 8 and 9, best of the series so far. When show focuses on the mystery it's more than watchable, it's good.

I want more Tao Tao and Ms. Mu.
