Ok. Let me get things straight.
Gong Yoo spends 900 years living with the burden of his mortal life, waiting for the girl who is going to free him.
Falls in love, sacrifices himself and he's supposed to be free but surprise, surprise! He gets stuck ina a lonely place in eternal winter with more memories on his back. FOR 10 YEARS.
Comes back to find his true love has no recolection of him.
True love gains her memories back. He has a new bromance with the king he hated for so long.
After a little while, true love dies and he stays alive. Bromance guy leaves as well. He FUCKING HAS TO KEEP LIVING UNTIL ALL HER TRUE LOVE'S LIVES ARE FINISHED LIKE FOR FUCKS SAKE SHE HAS ANOTHER THREE.
What's the point of this? I hate when they do that to a character. Like come-fucking-on just let the poor man go!
If not for soul reaper, I would really dislike the drama because of the last episodes.
There's nothing I love more than watching a couple I ship being together at the end. There is nothing I hate more…
It's really frustrating. One minute he is all over Sun Deok, the next he is in a relationship with SunAh. It just doesn't feel real. It feels forced and I HATE that. I hate it because SunAh deserved better. We get to see her feelings develop. One of my favorite scenes is when he's talking with Chi Ang and he asks if she can go out woth Sho Woo (her face broke my heart in half more than any other scene, even the main couple's sad ones) and she's: "I don't see him as a man..." as she stares and he is so STUPID. And when she tries to open to SunDeok telling her she had a "frontal attack" and SD is obvlious too. I love SunAh too much lol And I'd have loved to watch Chi Ang notincing her, and realizing her feelings and falling for her as well.
There's nothing I love more than watching a couple I ship being together at the end. There is nothing I hate more than watching said couple being left undeveloped and get 'magicaly' together at the end. I want to watch his feelings grow and change, not being left with a 'we needed a happy ending so they're together there's that' thing.
For the first time in forever, I'm fast forwarding the main couple's scenes. They are just so clichee and BORING. It's like I'm watching a drama from 5 years ago (-.-)zzz
I'm finishing tho, just for the sake of doing so, and because I really like Sun Ah
I actually agree 100% to "You who came from the stars" and "Reply 1997" The first I finished it because it wasn't bad, your cliché romcom+alien. I couldn't even finish "Reply 1997" so boring! As for "Master's sun" I enjoyed it quite a lot until the last chapters when they decided to add the boring, unnesesary melodrama. That ruined it for me completely.
Loved the article nicely written :) I have one question, Why is everyone talking about "rape" "rape…
Quoting: "The phrase "slap and kiss" tells you everything: it is about a love-hate relationship (mostly revenge-oriented) in which couples bicker, fight, argue, and then end up kissing or having sex (I would rather call it being raped because the woman is usually being forced by the guy)."
My first experience with a Lakorn was actually a "Slap&Kiss". I didn't know that. I just read the summary and since I like love-hate relationships I decided to give it a go. Like, the guy would constantly threat rape to the female lead (she was his prisoner because he confused her with his dead brother ex girlfriend who he blames for his suicide) but I never EVER even imagined he would. It's RAPE. It's disgusting. I think about all those actual rape victims, the stories they tell, and... No. No. No. It is not acceptable. Not even in dramaland.
It's a good one! I honestly really liked both female leads. Sun Ae and Bong Seon are completely different, and both had things that I disliked and cringed about, but they were an awesome pair that gave something different too the drama... Bong Seon feels at the end tho.
such a shame, they had the ruin it.. there had been hardly any real development between them 2 and we already…
I actually find the bond they have beautiful and special. Not all drama couples need fighting and banting to bond.
You say there's no "development" between the two, but that's not it.
Tae Hyun falls for this beautiful, clever girl he spends a long time with (remember how someone said he was with her 24/7?). He laughs with her. She's his first friend in a long time. He can be himself with her, no more acting.
She knows she feels something for him, but she's so scarred, she can't love yet. Not so soon. When she says "Can you wait for me?" is the prove that their development is still going on. They might be together, but that doesn't mean they have reached the true love point.
He's been so focused on his sister, on keeping her alive no matter what the cost, of being his only goal in life, that I can't wait for him to actually find himself again. He fell in love for the first time, he's so naive... how is he going to make it workout? How is she going to heal? How are they going to fight the war that they are going to fight? That will bring them closer as a couple... or break them. That's a fresh development for a korean drama, especially in the love department.
lol The third one is JUST like a mexican movie that came out a few years ago: "Nosotros los nobles"... I found that two hours was enough to enjoy the story of a rich parent who fakes bankruptcy to teach spoiled children a lesson, so I don't think I can manage to watch a daily drama with cliches about the same thing.
Kinda sad you didn't include "Ugly Alert". It's an absolutely wonderful family drama, my favorite I think.

Then: "Users must be located in the US(including its territories) and Canada"
Me: Oh... :(
