U think the Tian fam planned all this out from the get go with the magistrate to get rid of the Lou fam?!!?
Wasn’t the Tian fam still under the Luo thumb when that incident happened? Then it very well could’ve been Tian daddy who did that! I already thought from reading synopsis that the Li’s were probably brought down by a rival. I mean this is a drama haha

Subtle expressions are so easy to miss especially for me since I have to read subtitles too! I often will watch a scene then replay just to watch faces. I normally watch on a rather large tv but often have to watch on a tablet or phone. There’s some dramas I won’t watch until I can see everything haha The leads are amazing at giving us so much from just a look.
I was not really satisfied with how they "developed feelings" with each other. It seemed rather vague…
The era and their respective situations (positions in life) and their ages factor in and the overall theme in both their lives (his authority, her being a woman in that era) is RESTRAINT. So we only see things in their micro expressions and breathing.
He likes her early but probably never thought she would like him since he was an “old man” and a widower. And since he is who he is she never thought such a pairing possible so probably stifled those feelings. That’s why he says forget everything else think of just us, a man and a woman. Slow burn indeed, they started smoldering in ep1.
Loving the intro and outro with traditional instrumental music and ancient style paintings as graphics. Beautifully done like A Splendid Match did. I find myself watching instead of skipping.
Guys, how is this one so far? I’m contemplating whether to pick this one up. Is it like Flourished Peony and/or…
A much much slower start than Mudan’s story. For me very boring start but finally with the introduction of the ML things are picking up. But the beginning episodes are definitely necessary for the backstory.
First time I’ve ever noticed a clothing tag inside the collar area ins historical drama. Ep25 around the 26:16 mark. At least I think that’s what I saw.
I don’t know what era this drama is set in but when did clothing tags place inside the collar area become a thing?

A character I didn’t mind her redemption in the drama.
Really different from the novel,
Genericide!
Usually the first and the biggest to make their name becomes synonymous with the product!
Coke
Bandaid
Kleenex
Etc etc etc!
And yeah I like spotting bloopers like that
At least I think that’s what I saw.

Let’s gaslight grandma until we feel she can handle the truth.
