This show oddly reminds me of the American show Community (but for a younger audience). Just the goofiness (her exaggerated imagination) and the different scenarios these classmates face. Of course, plotwise, they are totally unrelated.
Decided to watch the anime as I'm waiting for the rest of the episodes to get subbed. It makes so much more sense now! Highly suggest reading the manhua or watching a bit of the anime before jumping into the live action series (although the drama does have some minor differences).
Actually in the manga the male lead is exactly like that is stiff and have no chemistry with his leading lady…
I do remember that. It made her seem like some annoying kid who wanted his attention (which was done well in the movie). But there were a few moments, when she wasn't paying attention, that you could tell he loved her. Either way, it was a lot to fit in one movie so a lot was cut out. And rushing the pace of the relationship and events didn't help either. :(
It was a decent adaptation of the manga, but the main issue I had was Kame's portrayal of his character. He just looked bored the whole time. You couldn't tell that Sagano was in love with her. I know it's a difficult thing to portray without coming off as a pervert/creep for being in love with an underage girl, but still I was hoping it could've been done better (without his poker face 80% of the time).
Unpopular Opinion: Many of the scenes are a bit too slow paced for my liking. For example, the walking scenes are slow motion and the conversations between characters are slow. It does add to the visual appeal of the drama and makes everything seem more artistic, but I have a short attention span so I end up fast forwarding a lot. Some scenes can be so extra at times, it's kind of hilarious. The drama is still worth watching though.
Totally with you on the overhyped dramas/actors thing as well! Sometimes, I wait until the drama ends and then read reviews from people who I know rate things objectively.
Lucky girl has costarred with some amazing male leads like Park Hyung Shik, JCW, and Seo In Guk. Unfortunately, I keep seeing her in the dumb girl / country bumpkin / noble idiot roles. I would love to see her in something more challenging.
40 episodes in...it's actually a decent daily airing makjang. I've seen this scenario/plot countless times before for revenge makjangs. Nothing new or original. Basically, it's average for a makjang. Female lead is a noble idiot. I'm just waiting for the savage revenge part, but it's too early on in the series for that.
