Such a fun watch. I get the frustration people feel especially about Akira’s character but this was her flaw that she needed to address. It’s just not easy or possible to immediately change, it takes steps, baby steps.

I find most of the characters realistic. Akira rather takes on everything than bother others and delegate, her boyfriend Kyoya is a good man, but his main flaw is that he’s a coward. Shuri is an entitled leach yes, but she’s also someone very broken and is in need of some tough love to move forward. Kosei… he’s really toxic and would rather be seen as the bad guy than be vulnerable.

I did find issue with Kureha’s character. She was the only character I didn’t find realistic. It wasn’t lifestyle but the fact she doesn’t have consideration for others. My problem here is that it’s never seen as a problem in the drama. I like the built up anticipation of who her husband is throughout the drama though.

My favourite character is Kyoya’s mom. She’s a sweetheart and heals all around her. I find it was her presence in Akira’s life that gave Akira the courage to change.

Overall this drama is all about the conversations and being honest to oneself. It was fun and refreshing to watch.

On The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call Feb 21, 2025
Entertaining watch, enjoyable characters with fun interactions though lacked a bit of depth, obstacles being solved rather quickly without being dragged out (maybe too quickly but I’m okay with that) in an otherwise unrealistic setting.
I found the violence a bit much and not needed other than to show off how much was spent on this drama.

However it’s good for a fun watch on a stressful day so I’d watch if ever there’s a second season.

While I agree with every point you make, I still enjoyed watching it. But yeah it’s as you said, none of the characters had much depth beyond what we initially get but their interactions are fun. That being said, Dr. Baek seemed to be the only doctor capable of surgery or deal with trauma, like how did this hospital function before?

for me most of Kimura Takuya’s dramas were always available because they were popular with the international community early on. Although… I appreciate having Beautiful Life on Netflix and hoping Love generation gets there because it was always hard to find subbed. How do I contradict myself this fast is beyond me 😆

Anyways I’d like to see dramas of actors that were in their prime in the 30s even if they got older by the time the international community started watching Asian dramas

Episode 2 so fun! Nice to see Alien and the ladies getting along. This episode reminded me of screenwriter’s…
I wouldn’t call it getting along. I feel like they’re manipulating him disregarding him. He’s too nice and they are taking advantage of his abilities

Yeah nowadays free streaming sites are so annoying their adds are uncontrollable like I can’t even pause any clicks brings another page so I’m thankful for those dramas being available on legal sites. I especially appreciate the adding of Japanese dramas from the 90s and early 2000s so I don’t complain but I can confirm, fansubbers do a much better job.

And yes in the past I used to download, get the subtitles and so on but that was I time I had the times and brains to do that. Now I look for convenience haha

Title Faceless
Doesn’t break any height, not realistic either but overall a moving story about being good despite how the world treats you. The acting was great but no wonder with the casting even though the characters didn’t have many dimensions. It was the standard good vs evil. Directing was pretty effective and cinematography was beautiful.

This was an old show though lol

Funny I just finished a movie on Netflix Faceless and when they were saying the age of the main character I’m pretty sure they said ni-ju-ni-sai (22 yo) but the subtitles said 21

the uproar for When the Phone Rings is because of the political implications it carries, but I have caught a couple of mistranslations. like someone was saying march 6 but they translate to December 6 (pretty random)

This drama was pure fun :D I loved all the characters! They slowly grow on you. The cases quality vary each episodes, but the entertainment value was always there. The events don't always make sense per se, but i do find the characters being logical and owning up to their actions and mistakes how adults should.

Now I need to hunt down all sequel moves and specials, if they are available because I definitely am not done with it and want more. Netflix is being good at providing older doramas but so far they suck at including any sequels unless it's produced by netflix or is a new drama.

On Shrink: Psychiatrist Yowai Jan 18, 2025
Nice watch, likeable characters and very informative on mental health and especially how society views it in Japan. I do question some instances where here in Canada it could be considered breach in confidentiality when someone comes to talk to the psychiatrist about bringing someone else as a patient. That being said, the treatment of the patients is done with care.

The think that shocked the most about this drama is when I got to episode 3 and realize it’s the LAST episode! I need MOOOORRREEEEE!

I think the "ambiguous" ending is more to do it with it being a deliberate cliffhanger to hint at a possible second…
I watched it week by week, which is usually how I watch dramas.

Not just the leads but for example that that Moon goddess or something, she was too emotional, irresponsible, and irrational to be a goddess. She did the most evil things and her excuse was that she was betrayed by humans yet the daughter she was avenging was human too. It’s contradictory. Then she’s so weak she just kills herself.

Also all the other comrades in episode 9 that were supposed to do the rational thing risked erasing all of them by not killing him. Then they wait to episode 10 to reveal they could’ve gotten help from elsewhere yet they waited for so many of them to die and their own erasure to reveal that? All of it is so illogical that I wouldn’t trust these “gods” to be taking care of humanity.

maybe I’m just an unfeeling person lol

Yeah same, and I can be okay with it, if it was that the characters have been frustrating me for the last 4-5 episodes so that didn’t help.

If a second season is created to follow how the first couple of episodes went then I’d be up for it. I loved it then. But since the “revelation” everything went downhill for me

This should have been completed weeks ago but I don’t know why the last episode was 2-3 weeks late.

Anyways, at the start I really loved this drama. It was a detective drama with a mix of mysticism. I also like the folklore there to a certain degree. The action was well done, chemistry was there between the leads and the music was great and well placed. The story had some originality.

However halfway through, the story was all over the place, and the characters didn’t make sense. Their decision making was all based on feelings. In the last episode where there was a disagreement about whether to let Okitama go or stop him, and despite the cheesy “I’ll stand with my friends” bs, I was against him leaving. Simply, I couldn’t trust his judgment nor that of any of his friends.

Then to top it off, we get a more or less ambiguous ending.

It had lots of potential but went down hill really fast
