That’s true tastes are different. I don’t even notice much less care about Tencent ratings I only follow Douban. I can kind of understand Douban values good acting but even then I am surprised.

Of course he shouldn’t do XL 2.0 3.0 or 4.0 but there are only so many times you can be associated with dramas that are getting panned before it becomes a pattern. He is actually good enough to go down the same path a ZYL or ZRY but they both pick excellent scripts all the way…

Her features look quite Manchu to me she can easily pass for that but Persians have very Caucasian features which is definitely not her. Casting director needs to be kicked in the butt. Casting a role right is winning half the battle!

I didn’t either until YM confessed he was attracted to her exotic appearance the moment he laid eyes on her (yeah that made me go huh?🤨). And then of course Mr White commented on her noble bearing and speech.

There is a casting issue. She is supposed to be an absolutely stunning Persian beauty. ZYR is very cute but she does not remotely look Persian - in fact you couldn't have possibly cast anyone that looks less Persian and all the Arabian nights outfits in the world won't change that. This is the kind of role someone that looks like Dilraba needed to be cast in for that part of it to be believable.

The only thing that held up this drama is amazing acting by ZWY and decent chemistry with the FL. I agree though that ZWY does not have good comedic timing even though his delivery is almost too textbook perfect. The comedy is not that well written and is hit or miss and in many places - overall it left a contrived feeling. There is little plot and most of it is quite unbelievable. I am completely floored at the Douban rating. It must be some calculation error.

Well he started out playing grey and villain characters. I first noticed him years ago in villain roles bc I am someone who loves good villains. I would argue Xiang Liu is not exactly a hero character either.

I thought it was Doumi as well. But not anymore, I don't think he will kill his own bodyguard to cover his tracks. Besides that, they unfortunately cast someone with Spock ears as the Man in White so at ep 20 his ears gave him away!🤦🏻‍♀️
