Oh don't worry about it - this kind of show has limited audience on MDL and the ones who will watch it won't care about the rating. This kind of drama tends to do a lot better on Douban than the current high rated dramas here.

Some of the big names have such high salary ask price there isn't much budget left for sets, costumes etc. That is also why so many allegedly S+ dramas look so crappy. I also hear that nowadays increasingly the pay/episode is also tied to shooting days. That's why they wrap the leads first whenever possible -they cost the most.

They do but they pay the company managing the actor. After that all kinds of funny business happens outside of the knowledge the production company. The actors at big agencies like Jaywalk usually report it properly bc these companies manage many actors and have too much at stake to help them evade taxes. The ones who use their own companies are the ones that usually gets in trouble bc its usually run by greedy and ignorant friends and family members who give them bad advice. The platforms can't do anything to force the actors to be honest about their taxes. But if they leak the numbers, the tax authorities kind of have some idea what the amounts should be. That's how FBB got busted - her rumored pay was so gigantic it was all over the market and it vastly exceeded what she filed in her taxes.
