This was actually a re-watch for me. šŸ˜‚It was the late, late movie on tv last night. I couldn’t sleep and…
I didn't watch that, what did it in for me was Saturday Fiction where he played Gong Li's lover! She is still a raving beauty but what was he thinking? She looked like his mom even though it was in black and white. I just shook my head through it. And his role in it was.... meh....

Yeah unfortunately Mark Chao claims to be super picky about roles but in reality all he has picked are the same old kind of boring good guy roles... Ni Ni has some interesting stuff coming up but it looks like nothing that puts them together again. I like her better with Chen Kun anyway.

Yes definitely the pieces of the puzzle are falling in place for him.

Title Pledge of Allegiance Spoiler
I'm still curious about the plot, especially the plot related to Li Wu. I see Li Wu is still full of mysteries.…
My impression is Li Wu was just in the mansion to steal from Wang Kegong, who was just transferred from Jinan with a secret edict. His criminal records are not in the mansion, they are all along in the prison archives so he would not be breaking into the mansion to obtain them. He has only two purposes in the beginning - 1. to make lots of money (he made loose clothes at Zhang's garment shop so that he could stash treasures from the mansion) and 2. to find the boy that saved him years ago and maybe make reparation. He only became aware of the Yuming Lock after he runs into and recognises Shu Tang in the mansion. Shu Tang is after the Yuming Lock and tasks him to help her with it. The Yuming Lock contains a weapons secret that could change the outcome of the battle for the throne. Li Wu doesn't really care about that and so he is rather casual about who he hands it off to. I don't remember clearly but I think Li Wu didn't even know his name was recorded as a criminal until someone (I think creepy handless prison guard Chen Jizhen) used it to threaten him. Then it all starts to slowly click for him why Song Heming arrested him just because his name is Li.

In summary, I think Li Wu was initially pretty clueless and not scheming other than to find Lu Zheng. But now that he has been pulled into the game he is definitely starting to scheme but I think like Lu Zheng, his purpose is still focused on the old case and not the Yuming Lock or the power struggle.

I think I’m in the minority who actually likes the romance between Li Wu and Shu Tang. Their personalities compliment…
Yeah I have no issue with it. I love Sun Yi and I think she has a good role here.

Title Pledge of Allegiance Spoiler
1. Doesn’t LuZheng know that LiWu is THE LiWu that he thought had stabbed his father? The way they showed it…
Well its just my speculation but if you go back and watch the Tan Hua conversation in the beginning (ep 3 or 4), you will understand why I am thinking he knows. It is the story of the flower fairy that loved a scholar who may or may not have forgotten her and the question is whether to speak or not to speak. The gist of it is sometimes, some things are understood without speaking and are better left unspoken bc if it is put into words, someone must die. I think Lu Zheng has figured out he is THE Li Wu he is looking for. But he also knows his father was doing something shady by arresting him that night. He is still the same righteous kid that set kid Li Wu free - he wants to do right so first he must want understand what happened that night. The problem is once he recognizes Li Wu as Li Wu, he is not filial if he does not kill him. So it is better to leave it unsaid but understood.

It was a nice mellow series I didn’t realize I needed to just watch. It’s ok if it didn’t fit you. Not for…
No its 3 Kingdoms period and refers to the famous tiger/dragon rivalry between Sima Yi and Zhuge Liang.

1. Doesn’t LuZheng know that LiWu is THE LiWu that he thought had stabbed his father? The way they showed it…
1. I think its explained in episode 9 or 10 where Lu Zheng kidnaps Li Wu's neighbors to intimidate Li Wu. Remember Lu Zheng was using Li Wu/fake Li Dongfang to obtain Li Wu's records from the archives. He told Lu Zheng he was helping Wang Kegong investigate Li Wu /Song Heming's death so he "pretended" to be Li Wu. Thus he is Li Wu but not THE Li Wu Lu Zheng is looking for. The guy is a consummate liar. By the end of ep 14 however, I personally think Lu Zheng already figured out the truth, that Li Wu is Li Wu but he forgives him anyway. But I am not confident of this, got to watch the next episodes.
2. I suspect the old man of the Zhao family may recognize him but their whole clan just narrowly escaped execution I doubt they have any power against a highly ranked Jinyiwei. In fact beating him up could get them killed.

Lol... I already knew you wouldn't last on that one - was actually surprised you picked it up. As I knew I would probably drop this one. I told you upfront I don't like the novelist.

I haven't watched the trailer but I assume her family difficulties are of a political nature since she is a general's daughter. Zhang Haowei is a very good actor - he was great in JOL as the first prince but I hear he is not coming back. I also enjoyed him as the lead in Master of Cheongsam.

Not sure if JBR is enough for you to watch this drama. If I remember correctly, you're not a slice-of-life fan.
I am ok with slice of life but modern romance is not my cup of tea. I need some plot to be engaged.

Thanks for this! It is a great help for all of us who have to rely on subtitles. So far I only watched one episode,…
Yeah for plot heavy dramas like this good subs can make a huge difference. I usually have Chinese subs on bc the Chinese subs match what I hear. I find it super distracting to hear "The sword was stolen by the beggar" only to see "The beggar stole the sword" on the screen. And on weekdays I am half working while I watch so I rarely look at the subs anyway I rely on listening. I tried to edit subs for Luoyang but I never checked to see if it worked.
