The bard sings about 5 people in the opening ballad. One of them is clearly Su Mengzhen and one of them is Wang Xiaoshi. It is not yet clear who the other 3 characters are but Wang Xiaoshi says all of them are now dead and were either friends or enemies of his. I assume one of them is the person in the box.

Well it depends bc Royal Nirvana’s big mistake was they had the novelist as the screenwriter and the novelist is a beautiful but overly detailed writer who can’t write a good screenplay to save her life. They fired her from the special and it worked out much better.

She is in the book which I skimmed a bit and the thing is while she isn’t super interesting she is not annoying in it. This is a screenwriter issue and an acting issue.

I didn’t skim too much bc I don’t want to be spoiled either. But in the book she is not disposable at all even when she is young and immature. So idk what happened with the drama.

How’s the drama so far?
It is a classic wuxia with decent fight scenes. I am enjoying everything about it except the FL but she doesn't get that much air time.

Its a good wuxi story in general and then there is a character that doesn't add to it; disappears at any serious fight and reappears when the coast is clear. And we already know someone goes into that box. I just feel lowest common denominator should be thrown under the bus ASAP to maximise viewer experience.
