What the fuck was that ending?!! Why is everyone saying it's happy ending?! HOW?? Spoiler↓
Well, Before I start: I have no issues whatesover with homosexual, or bisexual love. And I am fully in support of the LGBTQ community and their rights.
This is not a unique situation in movies/series of this type. And, in my opinion, there is no perfect solution. But, let's stick with this series. Bong Hwan is a man interested in women. The romance with the king is So Young exerting control over her body. It is true that Bong Hwan came to like the king, but more as a friend, and buddy. So, don't you think if Bonghwan was stuck in the Quenn body forever that would be cruel to him? In the first part of series, his suffering is played for laugh, and it was fantastic comedy thanks to Shin Hye Sun, but if you think about it seriously, he was in an AWFUL situation. I am not sure why those who din't like the ending ignore this fact. BongHwan wants to get back to his time as a man. The king certainly fell in love with BongHwan personality, there is no denying to that. But, I think it is completely unreasonable to ignore the fact that the king was looking at a woman, and just claim he is bisexual is baseless. If the king was looking at a man, he wouldn't have fell in love with him. They will be just good buddies.
I think the series found a good compromise. SoYoung and Bonghwan influenced each other. He made her bolder, and she made him gentler. They both ended up in their time and their bodies and where they wanted. The King was a bit short changed, but he still has a woman who loves him, and not as timid and conservative as it was before. So, 2.5/3 is not such a bad outcome I would say.
How would you have ended the series? I am asking a genuine and sincere question. How would you conclude the faiths of the three individuals?
What a great selection for a favourite drama, but it's my second favourite, lol. I am watching MLN right now;…
It is hard to list things, because you are not seeing anything new. But, you will start to notice that this character reacted in a certain way, or you pick up on some sentences you missed.
For me, the biggest joy was in deepening my understandingand appreciation. I will give few examples though: *Yura speech about Artifical Inteligence dominating the world: This was a scene/speech I liked first time around, but I was also waiting for the brother's response and what he will do. Second time around, I was completely focused on the speech, and I enjoyed more, and gave it more thoughts. *Walking JiAn home: This is a fans favourite scene, and I am no different, but second time around I picked up more on Jung Hee response, and made me think about when I was young. *The interactions between him and JiAn at the early stages or him and his wife. Other scenes, for some reasons hit harder (the app scene in E15 ? for example)
They are all small things in themselves but when you add them all together, I ended up enjoying it even more second time.
If you haven't watched yet, may I recommend a YouTube video series by Man vs Drama where he picks a scene or two from each episode and analyse them. They are mostly the major moments. I think this could be a good middle ground where you can enjoy a really very good analysis without having to rewatch it again.
I know dramas aren’t 100% realistic but it’s very weird to me that Haneul keeps drinking excessively while…
Making them doctors wasn't the greatest choice. This is not a medical drama, so they should have given them other professions, and not a lot would have changed. I know medicine is vast and there are tons of specialities, but surely every doctor has grasp of the basics. These two don't seem to have it lol.

I would say My Mister is better on the second viewing. Once the plot and what will happen next is not an issue you start to pick on so many other things. I did like My Liberation Notes but not as much. However, you will still find the amazing dialogues and thought provoking quotes.
The greatest K- drama till date ....still nothing have made me feel its better than my mister ....A true masterpiece…
My Favourite of all time in any language.
House MD. used to be my favourite. Not even Breaking Bad managed to dethrone it, but "My Mister" did that. If I have to pick just one thing that makes it special then I would say it is the writing, and I am reading subtitles. This must be even better in the original. This lady can easily write novels.
For the record, I am not her fan. This is the first drama I am watching with her.
I beg to disagree that she is a bad actress. I think she is doing fine with the role she has. But, I don't think there is big demand placed on either of the leads. This drama is lighthearted, and most of the time they are goofing around. I mean, how hard is it to act playing in an arcade? lol In the more serious scenes I thought she is fine. Nothing special like Shin hye Sun, or Park Eun Bin for example, but not bad either. ...also she is very beautiful lol. I know this is very shallow, but it never hurts to be that gorgeous lol.
However, acting skills evaluation is very subjective. Other might think she is very good actress, and I am afraid there is no equation to prove whether someone is good or bad actor. Also, popularity and good acting, no matter where, don't always go together, and one doesn't always lead to the other.
The drama is still great. If you watch it ignoring the parts about Yu Ra, you'll still enjoy it.
I am sorry, but how can you ignore her? The character, whether on screen or not, has been behind 90% of events in one way or another since she appeared.
The series has taken really a disappoing turn around episode 12. I don't understand the writer. They sidlined Soomin , who is the most interesting character and played probably by the best actor in the series in favour of a grotesque character played by a poor actress. Instead of just mildly increase the pacing to wrap the individual stories, they chose to go whacky and crazy which is at odds from the rest of the series. Now they will probably have to wrap things very quickly. What a waste! I am not saying the series is bad (First 10 episodes were good), but my evaluation of it certainly suffered a lot.
Koreans already have their own chat apps, forums, etc. that are widely used and popular. I wouldn’t want to…
Very interesting.
If you are interested in languages in general, I would recommend reading 2 short stories by Ted Chiang: "The Truth of fact, The Truth of Feeling" fascinating story about written vs. spoken stroytelling, "histrorical accuracy" and just things about language. The other is the famous "Story of your life" that was the basis for the movie Arrival, which I also recommend. Btw..I am also couple of generations older than your average MDL user lol.
But, I am not interested in ratings, or whether it is popular or not. I would also strongly disagree with the assumption that high rating = good drama. High rating just means that lots of people are watching.
I am interested in the why. I am mainly interested in the discussion and thought process.
I wish I know what Koreans in Korea think about dramas, not only this one. I think we are mostly international fans on MDL talking between each other. I think it would be interesting if there were at least few clearly identified Koreans living in Korea sharing their thoughts.
Jinwon told Sumin that she can't be pregenant because MinHwan has Azoospermia. Now, how does she know that, and…
I have already said that. The point is when this is confirmed later on, Sumin will think "How did she know that"? But, by then the series has ended or they are in prison lol.
Jinwon told Sumin that she can't be pregenant because MinHwan has Azoospermia. Now, how does she know that, and…
Ok. But, that must have happened after 2013. So, if Sumin thinks about it. How can MinHwan has Azoospermia and still believe her that she is pregnant? So she might think that Jiwon was lying, but if this confirmed later, then wouldn't Sumin be thinking how did Jiwon know that? I know we will not get there because the series will end lol, but she is essentially blew her cover.
I have a question, which is simple, but I think it is fairly big plot hole unless I missed something.I will put…
Jinwon told Sumin that she can't be pregenant because MinHwan has Azoospermia. Now, how does she know that, and MinHwan himself doesn't? Otherwise he wouldn't have believed Sumin. So, when I thought about it, it has to be something she learnt later from her marriage with him. But, doesn't revealing this will raise many questions? She knows something that even the person in question doesn't???

Btw..completely off topic. I find it very funny, and random (pun intended) that both our handles have the word random in it :)

The leads will have moments together, but it is NOT romantic.
They are more of soul mates than lovers.

You will be lucky if you can stop people around you from doing stupid things lol.
The point is when this is confirmed later on, Sumin will think "How did she know that"?

Yeah, the writer is essentially telling us don't think too much.
*shurg* another item on the list won't make much difference I guess lol.
