I haven't watched some of the currently airing or just ended series (want to binge when I have enough time and I've finished mourning for QL+CY=LOVE.

So far, for me (not by years 'cause I watched randomly)

Best Chinese BL - A Winter's Sun Wakes the Wind in Spring Hill's Dream. If only finished ones count, Deep In. But A Winter's Sun above all others.

Best Chinese censored danmei: The Untamed

Best Chinese bromance: Nirvana in Fire. (Damn this was hard. Under the Skin should count. Also Fangs of Fortune).

Best Taiwan BL: Unknown

Best Taiwan bromance: Oh No! Here Comes Trouble (that seriously should've been BL, they were fire!)

Best Thai BL: Top Form/Reset (can't decide. Maybe Reset. I would include My Stand-In, but that would be cheating given it's based on a danmei novel LOL). (Also, Dew looks mighty fiiiiine in Mr Kill but that one might not be BL in the end, we'll have to see.)

Best Thai bromance: Wu

Best Japanese BL: Cherry Magic

Best Korean BL: Love for Love's Sake

Haven't watched any Vietnamese ones (I tried watching one about a guy who was a cat but got easily distracted.)

Oh there is so much more, LOL. Particularly the way WWX finds out LWJ is out-of-his-mind-in-love-with-him. And the confession. That is PEAK. Look forward to it :)

If you've watched The Prosecutor's Proposal, there's a novel too. Or if you haven't watched it, what are you waiting for?

For manhwa (I don't read a lot of KBL, mostly danmei for me), I'd suggest Low Tide in Twilight and Totally Captivated. One, because there's good art, second, because there IS plot, and third, because there's a lot of smut too (at least in LTIT).

IMHO though the best Asian BLs are ALWAYS danmei.

ATP, mid-ep5, I just want ALL Kaye's t-shirts. OMG does he have a great collection.

Also, is Dew taller than everyone on set or what?! Off looks so small next to him LOL.

He'll be gone after this. He does get mentioned when the final confrontation takes place, I think (not certain, I was way more into the confession than into anything else LOL).

XY killed off most of the Chang Clan (Ping was away at the time and survived.) Then XXC and SL caught him and brought him to the Jin Clan for trial, since the Jin ruled the confederacy of clans.

But the Jin Clan wanted what XY could do - all this happens after WWX's ~death and before his resurrection, so they thought he could re-make the Yin Tiger Tally. They post-poned the execution until Chang Ping did recant his testimony and then it was all on XXC's word. He was a no-clan wanderer, so his word didn't carry much weight. In the end, Meng Yao freed XY and XY went and eventually killed CP too.

WWX is thinking he did it in part to avenge XXC's slight of not being supported when XY's trial went on, but XXC didn't care much about that in the end. XY likes to play with his pray - he lived with XXC in Yi City for years before XXC found out who he was. WWX might've found a separate reason for XY to kill CP, then again, it might've been just XY's maliciousness. XY would have killed CP no matter what, sooner or later.

LOL, Xue Yang is WWX's shadow in a very dark mirror. Lost orphan - check. Great talent - check. Rather untamed - check. The only difference that made them so completely opposite is the love WWX received from the Jiang Clan, while XY was left to survive as he could - and he went completely rogue.

So yeah, he was in love with XXC - or maybe just with the purity of XXC's soul. I don't know if he, himself, knew what he wanted from XXC, except he definitely thought of him as HIS, his own person, and he wouldn't share with anyone and he didn't care if XXC agreed or not. He even took a lot of measures to make sure XXC wouldn't find out, so that he continued to be his (ONLY) friend. XY is a very dark character - though again, if he only had received some love while growing up, he could have been another WWX.

The candy is a symbol - his last link to humanity, I think. His only proof XXC ever thought of him as a close friend, so he didn't dare eat it and lose it even when it went bad. That was heartbreaking, even if XY was evil.

I think Chang Ping's death was from his old "revenge", he destroyed the whole clan for what he took as a personal offense (the old master of the clan broke XY's little finger). AFAIK, XXC never had any grudges, even when Chang Ping recanted his testimony. I don't think XXC and SL cared that Chang Ping took back his words. They were clanless and understood what it took for CP to continue to stand against the Jins.

LOL, the masked one is the great villain of the story, Meng Yao. He learned to make teleportation charms and used them to travel to places even when he himself isn't a great cultivator. He and XY were trying hard to re-make the Yin Tiger Tally that WWX destroyed on the cliff, with limited success. While they were in process of doing so, XY got distracted with the matter of XXC and spent some 5 years if I remember correctly in the Yi City, waiting for WWX to come help him resurrect XXC. He has a mind of his own, XY, and Meng Yao knows to tread carefully around him. He left him to his own devices - and the juniors were baited into going there then immediately they're lured to the Burial Mounds by Meng Yao who's panicking about his secrets being revealed to the whole world by our secret mastermind :D

Years after XingChen died, WWX and LWJ come about (after WWX's resurrection, obviously) to look for further parts of the demonic body (in the drama, it's a sword, but in the novel, they're gathering demonized body pieces). They get baited to get inside the Yi City because the juniors are all captive there and can't escape.

Xue Yang is waiting there for WWX to help him resurrect XingChen, since he's the master of diabolism and should be able to do it (which he isn't). When everything eventually unfolds, LWJ WILL NOT TOLERATE anyone touching his man, LOL, and gets into a fight with XY. The (not so) mysterious ally tries to get XY back and fails, and so LWJ cuts off his arm (LWJ does that a lot, LOL) then Song Lan stabs him and he dies looking at the sad pack of sweets that XingChen got him as a gift years back, when he didn't know who he had saved. If you remember, Xue Yang had said that one of his greatest wishes as a kid was that someone would give him a candy each day, and XingChen did, but then he died so Xue Yang never ate that piece of candy, waiting to have XC back. It's really sad, I loved that part of the drama (among many other parts).

Basically, the drama goes exactly like the novel goes with that plot arc.

This whole drama (and a few previous ones) really proves you should not stick your d!ck in crazy. Even if they had a relationship, maybe public figures should open up their eyes and try to see beyond face value next time.

I didn't blame him, it's just that now, given he's building a career in well-watched mainland cdramas, he cannot risk it for a BL drama even if he wanted to. I think his agent, if he has one, would definitely put a stop on it (he's already been in a few big IPs).

And also, I really like the novel and if they wanted to, they could have covered in one season, it's not that long. But oh well.

Anyway, I can totally see why the rating isn't as high as it could be. It's unfinished, unlikely to ever be finished, and novel fans - like myself - would certainly be disappointed.

Taiwan is doing the best they can with what they have, but the big wuxia or xianxia danmei is beyond them, I guess. I wish they dared more, but they know their business better than I...

The On1y One deserves that rating IMHO. They only made half of the novel into the drama and their ML is now completely unavailable forever (he went on to star as support in mainland Chinese dramas, he won't ever return to BL) so that second half will be in limbo unless they change ML. I am seriously p!ssed off about that, A Certain Someone is a good novel and Mu Su Li deserves the recognition for her story.

Duang was meh in the end IMHO, though they're cute (OVER cute. I got sick of it by the end). Spare Me Your Mercy is great, also IMHO, and ITSAY suffered from sequel downgrade (I think before the sequel it was around 9 too, then people watch YPMTM and went back and down-rated it.)

Oh LOL I'm not actively watching Knot, just browsing, but the ML's reactions are so cute, I'll binge it for his expressions even if the story isn't much.

QL and Han Lu are with the same company. There's a remake of the original drama that made QL a star, and Han Lu is one of the main characters of the remake, making all the mistakes QL did in the past, too (personal life included).

So you can see what moulded QL without having to actually watch how it went between him and his ex.

And also so you can see how a stronger man (QL) needs a strong partner too (CY). Because Han Lu is a lot softer than QL.

There was a famous Chinese comedian who just misstepped by changing the lyrics of a patriotic song into something humoristic, I guess (I don't get it). The censors and generally Weibo are all up in arms about it, it looks like a great hullabaloo according to the news that escaped. I guess more censorship will come out of this eventually. *sigh*

If not, I'm pretty sure the fan TL is still around, if you look for Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation (Mo Dao Zu Shi) by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu, that is the novel and donghua's title. (The donghua is on YouTube, last I checked).

I moped around for a week after that ep. I set up all kinds of events that would undo it. Now it's been more than two weeks, I'm calmer.

Breathe deeply. This too shall pass.

Sometimes, violent impulses are best controlled with discipline. And it's easier to get disciplined when it's not you who has to do it alone, but you're under orders and someone else is in control. Maybe that's why he went there, to learn to control himself and never do it again.

(If it were me, I'd be like in that joke - God give me patience and I want it right now!! I guess he's stronger-minded than me LOL.)

At first he wanted to get some promotional clips out of it, like the original pair - QingLang and his ex went through something similar). And his management also pushed him to do it.

Then he fell for HaoYu and now he's a (mostly) tame puppy who wants to wriggle his tail everytime he sees him LOL.

Brother Guo is just a dramatic diva. Please give him some room to emote. (He's not disrespectful, that's his personality.)

She's half-sibling with LuQing, they share a mother.

Their mother is from a rich Hong Kong family (at the time HK wasn't under Chinese control yet), and she came to the mainland, married the Bei father, got LuQing. Then political unrest toppled his family, they got separated, and she had to go to a factory to be "reprogrammed" and survive. She had to get involved with some political officer there and had LuXin eventually. When the Bei family recovered, she couldn't stand being there any more and left for HK again, and controls the family through her money with an iron fist. But she didn't take her daughter with her, and the Bei father quietly raised her. LuXin found out why nobody's putting any expectations on her and went wild because of it - she feels unloved.

And then she got a crush on her older half-brother and is jealous of every woman - and then, man - who goes around him.

She's got issues.
