He's reading the negative reviews/comments for the same reason I do, LOL (only I am not an actor). He seeks to understand what was wrong (in the eye of the beholder) about his role, and how he did it, and improve. I seek to understand what's wrong with the item I want to buy or am just interested in LOL.
Good (and not just insulting) negative reviews are the best in telling you what's wrong, exactly how they discovered that, and how to deal with it, if there's any way to deal with it. Nice and supporting reviews just cheering on for whatever never tell me anything - and they probably don't tell him anything much either, except that there are people who like the part he played.

From the outside, it sure looks like the team or whoever is responsible for these contracts ghosted the designer (because he's small and powerless, even more so at that distance) until the noise in the social-media got to them. And only then did they suddenly remember a six-months overdue return of items borrowed(?) that should have been sent back long ago.
As to why he's backtracking re: the theft (which, if it happened as he said it did, it definitely was theft) - who wants to bet that one of the conditions of resolving things from the "team" is that he goes on social-media and absolves their artist and her team of all unsavoury intentions?
Like, seriously, who would believe that? But let's just pretend in the name of saving face for all involved.
I used to be certain I was a scaredy cat and never liked horror (or almost-horror) dramas. Then I watched quite a few of them and decided I actually like them. Just not all.
Xiao Xing Chen is so Xie Lian coded. Kindness wrapped in elegance.
Xie Lian is kinder in the donghua, IMHO. In the novel, he did have some pretty stark edges. Particularly around and after the Human Face Plague (yeesh, still not liking that part of the novel AT ALL.)
It really hit him, that moment when he realised he LOVED teasing LWJ. When he's so hot and bothered and whispering in LWJ's ear, "you know, Lan Zhan, I really love it when you get angry", LOL, that is what leads to fetish drug dreams and "everyday means everyday" :D
Though seriously - don't you just love his simple nature? His own perfect dream was to play house with LWJ, he the providing husband and LWJ the stay-at-home wife. So cute! Whereas LWJ was planning violence in his own dreams and then acting up on some of it hahaha~

That boy was so repressed throughout his whole adolescence and then the love of his life disappeared... he NEEDED every excuse to gain back some of that lost time :D

WWX is the same WWX as always. He just got hit over the head enough times he stopped being oblivious suddenly. And now he can tease and get punished at his own pace (which is pretty fast LOL). He says so himself - why have a mouth if not to speak with it, and then his mouth makes him dig his own hole and then the... other end has to pay the price.
TBH I'm kind of certain LWJ would take any reason to do it anyway LOL. Even if WWX suddenly stopped talking (though he won't).
...Also that moment in MDZS Q when LWJ ties up WWX and you remember Incense Burner LOL. Yup, MDZS Q was basically a honey trap for all fans :D
It covers a fan-moved theory (it's not canon AFAIK) that Lan Zhan kept waiting for WWX and playing the Song of Recollection to gather back his scattered soul, all those years he wasn't alive. And it shows (also very cutely) how well LWJ knows WWX's inner child, LOL.

Now you see why I love JC. He is such a misunderstood character - even himself doesn't understand (or allow himself to feel) his emotions. This man needs a church of psychologists.
As for 4 - I was too busy squee-ing. I mean... He thinks that he sometimes landed well, and sometimes he fell and hurt himself, but he ALWAYS jumped, even if it hurt. And imagines himself being caught by LWJ if he jumped, and before he has time to reflect, he lets go.... and LWJ catches him. That moved my heart so much. He did a trust fall in Ancient Danmei/Xianxia China LOL. JC can go and suck a lemon about it, I don't care, that's one of the best romantic gestures WWX got before he finally saw the light and yes I include the blindfold kiss in it LOL.
And after many years of ignoring this (because I never liked chinese censored bls) I finally picked it up and…

Going by already ended newish cdramas involving BL, there's just a tiny hope that upcoming Journey with You (coming on the 8th) doesn't end in tragedy. Don't bet on it though.
Heads up, The On1y One isn't finished (though I guess they won't ever make the second half, or not with the same cast anyway). The novel it's based on, Mu Su Li's A Certain Someone, does have a HEA, like most danmei. I loved it when it started, but when I realised they won't do the whole novel all at once... I was kind of disappointed. Telling you just so you don't get disappointed too - better read the novel for the latter half. Or better yet, read the novel anyway. Because it's cute, and Mu Su Li knows how to write :D
Anyway - other costume danmei (with a HEA, but lower production values, also based on a novel that's definitely not MDZS-calibre) - Meet You at the Blossom. At least they're cute LOL. And it's Chinese, despite it showing it released in Thailand, LOL.
Non-costume - Revenged Love (based on Chai JiDan's Counterattack - she also whote the (in)famous Addicted/Heroin.)
Myself, I didn't watch Guardian yet, because it's based on a Priest book and I just can't click with her style - but Word of Honor is also based on one of her novels and I did like it, so who knows, the drama might be worth it LOL.
And there are the foreign-made danmei adaptations. If you can stand toxic love (the drama is pretty faithful to the novel, and TBH I loved to hate on the ML and coo over the MC hahaha~) maybe take a look at My Stand-In (because while the ML is the reddest flag that should drop dead and die ASAP, they DO have chemistry together.)
And if you ever get tempted by actual bromance (no OFFICIAL love interest, though TBH I wonder how ao3 is surviving that drama), you might take a look at Fangs of Fortune. Those guys (and gals) are all paragons of beauty and I'm not even exaggerating.

TBH what I liked most was that Wayu has no idea what he let himself into and it shows. Even when he's dead-scared of doing anything but still does it, he looks kind of scared and he should be. I just hope it doesn't go over-dramatic (though I wouldn't be surprised).
*Wayu setting his alarm for at least five times before the time he's supposed to get up (and then still staying in bed for a few more minutes)* I'm in this picture and that's where I'll be forever. And sometimes I even fall asleep after the last alarm or hit remove by mistake. The last-minute struggle is real.
Also, half this episode could be titled "Red-Flag Setting-up Mission". I don't want it to become a battle zone, but there are SO MANY freaking red flags I can't see any other colour.
