Fan changyu is really one of the most likable FLs in the history.. Her character is so beautifully written. Her…
PR DID refer to herself as "ben gong" since she forgot she's supposed to be anonymous there. So it makes sense ChangYu would mistake it for her name LOL.

I myself have heard "ben gong" (本宫) quite a few times in dramas involving royals, but our village-girl never met anyone important - or so she thinks. She couldn't know.

BTW for anyone who doesn't know, the TL is adapted - "ben gong" is the title one woman of royal blood would refer to herself as (literally means "this palace" :) and is used to immediately settle the rank difference with a subordinate. Much like the royal "we" in European dynasties, only much more explicit.)

So anyway, what ChangYu is actually calling her is Miss "ThisPalace" LOL.

Why were marquis's gaurds were hiding from Changyu? i don't recall them meeting!!which episode was it ?
Weren't they the ones who were supposed to guard her while he was hunting down the rest of the bandits?

She thought they too were bandits and escaped with the blind old lady. They met her, she doesn't really remember them that well. Or at all.

See what I mean? When these two are together on the screen, this 100% humidity snow-filled background is ON FIRE.…
That was so good! I was afraid he was going to learn she's there and try to avoid her, but nope, they're both smitten, he can't help himself.

TXW's eyes are so BIG on her face, like she's seriously Snow White (all the checks clear). I can't look away from her.

And she finds ChangNing, poor little girl, that was such a good scene!

And the Princess Royal finds Xie Zheng, that too was such a good scene LOL. However, she skipped from the palace so easily? I kind of expect some intervening hands to help her, not necessarily to help her, actually. (And then she finds out ChangYu's husband is who he is - now she has a blackmail piece in her hands, I expect Xie Zheng to hurt for it LOL).

But OMG the reunion of GongSun and Princess... He couldn't have fumbled it worse if he'd tried. I see a lot of grovelling in his future.

The Pig Butchering Squad assembled!! And now she's promising Yan Zheng meat, LOL, she's going hunting, our fearless girl!

That tent mysteriously emptied and remained empty hahaha, that is the POWER OF LOVE. And good subordinates who catch on quickly. YZ should be grateful to GongSun, the ingrate, no put him on a lower chair LOL

I absolutely LOVE that sweet love song they had on with the double-shadowed scene. Beautiful atmosphere, amazing shot. It's fated. Nobody can do anything about it.

Now my fear is there's only 16 eps left. It seems too few. Could this have another season? *keeping fingers crossed, no matter how long it takes til it's done*

PS
ChangYu: My husband is tall and handsome and a great fighter!
Princess Royal: Better than the Marquis Wu'An?
ChangYu: No, nobody could be better than the Marquis Wu'An!
Yan Zheng: *SNEEZING UP A STORM*

Any scene with them together is pure magic. I mean, it tends to even make any public around them disappear LOL.

Please, can someone tell me why they stay in the winter with windows open... outside is snowing, freezing and…
The houses are made of wood, any fire happens outside or in a separate kitchen (and it's banked at night to prevent accidental fires), for heating they either use Kang beds (tiles+funnels, uses kitchen heated air to warm up, only on the first level of the house) or charcoal braziers/fire basins. There's no way to let the smoke out so unless they wanted to die, they'd leave a window open (or rather, they didn't even have windows. They'd leave one window covering cracked).

Contrary to current beliefs, cold air won't kill you. Actually, the best temps for sleeping well are rather low (cool in the summer and just comfortable in the winter), given good bed coverings. Also, poor people used to share one huge bed in their small houses, so there was a lot of body heat sharing going on, too, LOL.

There even used to be this habit in the Scandinavian Peninsula, of leaving their kids out in the cold and snow to sleep in their strollers, and nobody bated an eye. It seems it's still happening to this day, too. Maybe Chinese people in the North got used to dealing with the cold before chimneys were invented and used when they started building brick houses instead.

Lao Tao is a dramaqueen. Plenty of things are happening while at the same time nothing seems to be happening.…
I don't care Qi Min loves her. He can rot in hell.

I feel the story slowed down considerably and while I appreciate the look into different parts of the plot, they're getting a bit repetitive and not all that interesting. I get it, the gang is now made up of filial patriots who are supporting her, Lao Tao is feeling fatherly towards her and competing with Mr. Zhao, ChangNing and Bao'er are at least not captive anymore and Sui the younger is now a captive himself.

Still, things needs to move more fluently now. And while the whole destruction of war is going on, I hope they're not going to go into an Imperial Palace arc where all the political things will happen all at once as if those people don't live until it's their time.

Actually I think the stepmom has been very good to her. She was very upfront about her feelings for her father,…
No need for ad hominem, LOL. Yeah, most of us boring f@cks are living non-multiple lovers lives, and have our burdens and our duties etc.

That's the point of a drama though, isn't it? To help us get out of this grind for an hour at the time, by presenting interesting characters and a compelling story. To make it short, these two people are uninsteresting, the drama itself is kind of underwhelming, there is no plot other than he+she=love (no matter how fantastically they re-connect), and what I find totally unappealing is that this man is existing in suspended animation until she walks back into his life by herself, when he's suddenly sprung into passion again and ready to actually BE alive. For reasons. Even with slice of life and realistic romances, why should one care for these particular characters and not John and Jane Doe doing the exactly same thing maybe (while not as attractive)? If these were regular people, no one would care. The only thing moving the drama along is that they ARE attractive.

... LOL, the more I try to explain what rubs me wrong with this drama, the more I keep wondering why not just drop it. (That's me and not a hint to anyone else, LOL).

Actually I think the stepmom has been very good to her. She was very upfront about her feelings for her father,…
Because he's not living, he's existing. There's a huge difference. And none of the steps he took were what he would have chosen for himself. He did everything due to outside pressures and never tried to actually live for himself.

His uni professor even makes note of that, but while he thinks it's good, I find it soul-destroying. It makes no sense to live only for others, no matter what obligations he might think he has. Just imagine - his GPs would be gone one day, his brother will be independent one day - and he'd have spent more than half his life taking care of them and only them. What's left for him?

So the drama brings up St. First-Love on a white horse to give him another purpose in life. This guy cannot even exist on his own. That's not a functional human being.

Irl anyone who look like Jin Young would have become an idol and probably acted in dramas like these…and still…
If he really has no interest in anything, somebody would pick him up if going only on looks. Like the SFL - she "just" discovers him exactly when the FL makes a return, because the drama needs a tiny bit of tension. If she had appeared earlier in his life - a year or two - and asserted herself, they'd probably be married with children by now LOL.

Yeah well, the fact someone looking like JinYoung is NOT an idol already (we're going to "forget" he's already JinYoung LOL) is kind of hard to buy. Dramas and life stories tell me most of the really attractive persons in Korea get accosted on the street to try and convince them to train in order to debut as idols, actors, etc. Either all the agents are on vacation together, or we're playing selective blindness also for the drama's sake LOL.

EXACTLY!!! Like, did he put his life on standstill waiting for the apocalypse or whatever - he never even tried…
He never does anything for himself because he's sacrificing for his family and that's all.

Nobody learns to speak up at 30 after being silent their whole lives. People don't really change. Maybe in dramas. So if he does really change that much, THAT part would be unrealistic IMHO.

What did the SFL do wrong in her life to deserve him? I'd rather she remained single and a ditzy painter or whatever she is. She at least knows what she wants or likes.

That's not what I mean. I mean he has no agency, he never acts before she does, he never even protests. He just reacts to whatever she does.

I'd rather have someone who shows some actual personality other than a white piece of paper that mostly her only gets to draw on. I kind want to drop it, I need to calm down first and then decide.

EXACTLY!!! Like, did he put his life on standstill waiting for the apocalypse or whatever - he never even tried to get her back once they were set up and had jobs, didn't keep up with her, didn't even listen to local gossip to learn about her father and stuff - because WHY? What personality does he even have other than being in love with a girl who recognises her interest and acts upon it (good for her!) - why would I want to watch such an insipid "romance"?

ATP I only like his study center friend, at least HE seems to have a personal life.

So... you're telling me and the whole world that someone looking like JinYoung would be single for ten years, just holding a candle to her in his heart all this time despite of the manner in which she dumped him, and then... just go back to her??

WHY is the ML such a wet noodle?! I mean, it's not freaking romantic, what, are they in a symbiotic relationship or something, can't he actually LIVE without her?! That's freaking pathetic.

I am in serious doubt if I want to watch the next ep. ATM I'm kind of seeing red over these two eps.
