Considering this was from 17 years ago, this was surprisingly really good. The opening bit with the theme song already made me search for the full version. Brave Soul by S.E.N.S is so beautiful and nostalgic. The sword fights choreography reminds me so much of Wuxia dramas. Then someone said they filmed this in China more specifically, Inner Mongolia. Well, that explained it hahaha. Since this is a novel written and published in the late Edo period, the story gave off that epic feeling and interesting characters with their own backstories. I would also like this to be a drama instead of SP since the novel still has much more content to it, but yeah this is expensive to produce indeed. The story also ended on a good note that still applies to today's world too.
Nakatani Miki-san played an important role in the story but isn't included in the cast here. She even sang the theme song at the end. The BGM they used for the scenery scenes was nostalgic even though I wasn't born during that era. The scenery reminds me so much of Natsuzora, then the character revealed it really is Hokkaido.
I thought I wouldn't like it much since it was from 2008. I ended up enjoying it more than I expected lol. The comedy timing was so good. Plus, the translator's notes too are hilarious. The story itself is like a cat-and-mouse chasing, or in this case, deer and rat. XD My god, all of the glues and the misleadings I got while watching hahaha. It was fun I guess. When the characters finally thought they made it, *bam* there's a problem. At the end of the day, they still solved them though.
Since this is set in Nara, and one of our main cast is a History teacher, we got to listen to her history ramblings along the way. Not annoying or anything though, it was cute and educational ahahah, but also crucial to the plot itself. So yeah, take them as Japanese History Lessons. XD
I watched it years ago, I am shocked that this gets low rating. Really underrated! In the end of the movie you'll…
Where did you find the full movie though? I looked for Raws online, but I can't find it. I only found the cut-into-parts ver. on BiliBili, so I can't put the eng sub on it. Plus, when I try to download it, it doesn't allow high quality.
Having read the Manhwa, when I watched the first half of it, the screenwriter actually did well adapting it. They elaborated more and erased things that are not important enough. I put this on hold for a month because I got tangled up with other things. Coming back and reading all of the comments about the ending actually made me scared to finish it. I'm glad it wasn't as bad as I thought, even though it could have been better. I did cry watching the last episode though.
Ughhh god!! The twists after twists. XD I went into this without much expectation, so I was actually surprised…
That gallery in the beginning is too unprotected considering what's in there, bruh!!! Lmao, she's a genius, but her common senses were messed up back then- XD The firewoods at the end weren't even right under the painting itself- DX Q for Queen? Heh.... Ma.... she's not wrong... :D
Ughhh god!! The twists after twists. XD I went into this without much expectation, so I was actually surprised by Ayase-san's character and enjoyed the movie along the way. There were plot holes, yes, but it was fun I guess.
Nah bro, this was depressing as hell. It felt hopeless, yet hopeful at the same time. My last reaction would still be wtf ;-;. While I was watching it, I felt sth in my stomach. It's like an unsettling feeling you know which and how limited paths they can go for.
It's been a month since I fell into the rabbit hole of her works lol. This is a thing that I noticed a lot while watching her dramas and movies. When there are emotional scenes, like happiness, sadness, crying, anger, frustration scenes, etc, her facial expressions were spot on. (Well apart from some of the older works where OTTs in Jdramas were still strongly presented.) The highlight of them would be the prominent vein on her right forehead, and the vein at the corner of her left eye. Those veins really stood out in those scenes and made her acting look really good on screen. I found that really beautiful and idk why lmao.
In ep 11 I was like:Naruhodo!!! It's all coming together now!! Bruh it took 22 episodes!!! He went through all…
That hug- The ONLY skinship moment we have in all 2 seasons?!!! (apart from when she hugged his legs lol) A love letter that spans 141 years, huh..... 1868 to 2009 Huh, what the fuck was that ending!?!! Why another brain tumor on Miki too? Like bro what!?!! Don't just leave us with that!!! Another time-slip possibility?
Yappari.... she didn't get married her whole life- I actually got spoiled of the ending that they won't be together at the end because I was watching too much of Ayase-san's content on BiliBili- XD That ending part was bittersweet even though I saw people's comments saying that wasn't the Manga's ending. I might check the Manga ver. out in the future.
Edit: Never mind, the manga's scanlation stopped at ch 51. -,-

I can't-, she really uses Keigo to talk with the deers XD
AHAHHAAH IT WAS THE EXACT DEER TOO OMFG-
"You're a stupid man."
"Yosh!!"
Wtf!?! Bro cheered XD hahahaha
"Could she be..."
*music swells up* * multiple cuts* *dramatic zoom in*
"...stupid?"
Fk!!! XD Goddammit!!!
Of course, the main character wears the most stand-out Hakama. hhaahh
Lmao, she's a genius, but her common senses were messed up back then- XD

At first, I thought I missed an episode or sth lol.
