Go easy on the FL actress here. I get it that she's not a Dame Judy Dench, but I think her acting is passable…
I've seen Deep Rooted Tree. Her acting was even more bland there too, but she was not the main character, and it was compensated by the great acting of the actor who played King Sejong. Maybe she's deficient in facial muscles or sumthing 😒 But I have to say, my "ridiculous kdrama/cdrama cross dressing pretty guy" filter is malfunctioning and its beginning to affect my appreciation of an otherwise good series. I hope the King expose him to be a she asap.
What an interesting plot! I hope it continues to keep the same intensity until the end. Still hoping for less…
Go easy on the FL actress here. I get it that she's not a Dame Judy Dench, but I think her acting is passable for her role here. I see her as willful but a pampered and naive nobleman daughter, who overrates her capability, thinks she can outwit the King, but is way out of her league. Yes, she's totally not convincing as a male at all, but then I blame it on the makeup department + director who is not filling to go the distance to turn a beautiful kdrama actress ugly. Scared that they would lose the Korean audience? Just like in castaway diva where FL still looks like a cosmetic model after spending years surviving on a deserted island.
Now I know why second male lead character KMH looked so familiar. He and the bad brother guy were the loveable North Korean soldiers in "Crash Landing on You". (first kdrama I ever watched )
Me, two! It shows up in both Cdrama and Kdrama plotlines.
With any kdramas or for the matter cdramas, you just have to watch with the reality distortion force field on. Conversely, you have flower boys starring in Joseon Korea dramas with makeup and lipstick. In an actually conservative and misogynistic Joseon society, they would have been beaten to a pulp by the mob. I mean they looked prettier than real imperial concubines (who basically looks like my granny, god bless her).
So far so good. Hope this series doesn't suffer the "Arsenal" syndrome i.e. second half season collapse. p/s I also find it incredulous they don't recognize "him" as a female.
I enjoyed watching this drama. but I think this is overrated, agree?I mean if the FL wast played by Bia lu it…
In my opinion its a good series. I've watched about half of the series so far, and the plot moves along. Haven't used the fast forward button yet. P/S I am not familiar at all with any of the actors and actresses as I don't watch that many cdramas.
This show needs to be watched on a smart phone or tablet. It's too troublesome and clunky to use the TV remote control button to fast forward as you need to use this feature a lot.
I think 7 and 8 were a bit weaker than previous weeks. They have 4 more episodes to start unravelling things so…
Yeah. I think the series has peaked. It's the same with me on most kdramas nowadays, very difficult to sustain interest in the second half. I only watch half of episode 7 and considering dropping it altogether. I also dropped My Demon after 4 episodes. Not watching any other kdrama's right now.
[SPOILER] Okay, if you want to do know, here's a quick summary. She did jump back to modern Korea (after saving Joseon Tae Ha who still dies naturally due to poor heart condition) and had triplets with reincarnated chaebol Tae Ha.
To be frank, I actually hope the drama writer surprises me and changes the story significantly because the manga isn't that good.

Cross dressing baduk player is based on Lady Shin Sae Kyeong.
