I wonder if I should even watch this. It seems too real to my own Beloved maternal grandmother's story which is…
It’s a feel good movie so everyone learns valuable lessons by the end. But if this is too close to a personal sound you may want to avoid it.

My grandmother was not wealthy but split everything equally between her three children, or in the case of my deceased mother, my sister and me as her share. Amongst us there were no quarrels as everything was shared fairly. That didn’t stop distant relatives from suddenly showing up which was really gross. The only part of this movie that made me cry was remembering the beautiful woman who touched me with her love and wisdom and is still sorely missed.

I think if I wad watching it when it was airing and everyone was hyping it, my disappointment would be bigger…
I kept wondering if I was watching the same drama. 😄

Thanks for this review. The title made me notice it but the topic seems quite distasteful and probably difficult…
Most people who watched this were deeply moved. It has a high MDL score. But it’s one of those films I had to struggle through the majority of it to get the payoff in the final minutes.

Chalk it up to me knowing too many M’s IRL when my grandmother was dying. Relatives who were always scarce unless they smelled money.

I’m glad you enjoyed it💖 if I have my own list of best acting performances, LSM’s role here would be num1✨
I’m so glad you recommended it. 🥰Truly a stellar performance. 🏆

The tangerines given in key moments and needed in key moments…When money was tight fruit was the first thing omitted.

Lovely review. 😊

I missed Bo Gummy when it went to the “present”. Watching the young couple fight for themselves and their children and their vulnerability was my favorite part. 🥲

This is such a good and apt review without spoilers and still with almost all details I need to decide if someone…
Thank you! 🥰

I didn't want to give anything away if possible. It's the unfolding of the relationships that's fascinating to watch. I had the same feeling about the rating. Close but not quite.

The hardest for me was the daughter-father scene near the end. Had a similar moment with my mom. 😭💔

Thank you for the flower you gave recently. 🦋💕 I haven't been on MDL as much lately. It's usually a quick run through my friends feed at night before bed.

Review Mr. Plankton Spoiler
The moment I started to enjoy it, especially last two episodes, it ended. Poetic tho how it mirrors male lead…
Pretty much sums it up for me 😄

A lot of these old kung fu movies that aren’t Shaw Brothers were not cared for but largely considered disposable.…
Some of these old kung fu movies aren’t available in Cantonese or Mandarin, only English dubs. I’ve made my peace with it when there is no alternative. Many of them are in rough shape. Time has not been kind to them. Even the ones that aren’t dubbed may have overlapping faded subtitles in various languages.

Shout! and Prime have several Shaw Brothers films that are in the original language and have been restored. Of course, there is the dubbing with them in both languages.

Michelle Yeoh used to count to 10 and they would dub her movie in Cantonese and Mandarin afterwards. So no lip synching there either. They’d also use that technique in kung fu flicks because the dialogue may not have been written at the time of filming. 😆

"...so kung fu was shown as more elegant and effective."Of course it was!!! 😅😂
I have watched my fair share of samurai films and karate flicks but I have to go with kung fu on this one!

I watched a beautifully restored Shaw Brothers film tonight. Do dubs!👏 And no snakes!
