This was not Siddhartha but a Buddhist master from the 4th or 5th century who came to China to share the Chan/Zen version of Buddhism. The film never gave his original name. When he was admitted to the temple in his home country and his head was shaved in India (or Persia) he was given the new name of Bodhi Dharma. He is considered the patriarch of Chan Buddhism in China and the creator of Shaolin kung fu because he gave shaolin monks the exercises to strengthen their bodies. A little hard to separate the man from the legend. He’s said to have resurrected a second time to walk back to India at 150 years old. The first time he was burned to a crisp. Tyvm for the gift 🦋💕

I don't mind the occasional western characters as long as they are pertinent to the story historically or narratively. What pulls me out of the story is when they use people for whom English is not their native language and I can't understand them. The only ones available are also usually terrible actors like they pulled someone off the street and asked if they wanted to be on tv. 😄
