- Since the ML was portrayed as a not reliable, not smart man during his youth it is not convincing enough how he turned into Sherlock Holmes overnight near the end.
- The twist for the culprit was good but not realistic. In that era, I believe ghost felt more believable than plastic surgery.
- The final twist was WTF because it was so random. I guess it was just for the shocking factor, but no substance.
- The romance part was overused. Nothing new.
- ML knew the whereabouts and circumstances of FL all this while. He even knew the situation with the General, but why he needed to waste time doing investigation.
- Some part were left unexplained like why they did not get together during the lantern festival or maybe I missed something.

Very low effort drama. If you make screenshot, this drama look decent enough, on par with most C-Historical dramas. But the plot was lazily written. The investigation was merely plot of conveniences. All of sudden our investigator became Sherlock Holmes. More in spoiler:

Honestly I don't mind him and having him in this drama is why I picked it up in the first place. I did not aware that this was for Sunday so you might be right on the higher-up influence for the Ossan character here.

Off beat drama. It takes time for you to digest the quirkness and its eccentric characters. But the plots were…
I love how the teaser for next episode always bait you into thinking the cliche and trope, while the actual episode is not.

1. It's multi protagonists but it didn't treat the characters equally in terms of story.
2. It started strong but lose momentum on later episodes where it felt a bit draggy.
3. I don't mind the shocking twist though. In fact I think it broke the trope and cliche and expectation for this kind of drama which I really appreciate.

Surprisingly this didn't feel repetitive for this kind of theme. It gets better and better as the drama progresses.

It's quite a nice (human) drama focusing on child welfare and safety. It's half awareness, half work, and a bit social commentary, so expect some typical tropes and cliches from those kind of theme, but overall watchable and entertaining.

It was an okay watch thanks to the WuXia-Murai action but:
1. The story is just a copy pasted delinquent drama with the typical comradery theme and the stereotypical MC who is stupid but have clear ambition to become the strongest. The determination of the stupid wins over the intelligent. In the end of the day MC needs to face the ridiculously OP last boss.
2. The people outside the MC circle will be portrayed as villains.
3. Might as well worked should the manga author wrote a totally fictional characters without using the existing Shinsengumi members.
4. After watching many jidaigeki and J-historical, it was hard to suspend my disbelief on the costume, hairstyle and the ridiculous weapon, but I understand it is manga adaptation so I had to reluctantly swallow it during my watch....lol
5. Using Shinsengumi as inspiration, the stories could have been more deeper than what this one have offered. The rewritten characters in this series were mostly shallow and naive. Not to mention how oblivious they are to the politics of that time.

I posted my previous comment before I watched the final episode "Demons End, Rising Thunder". My comment…
That's why I avoid reading episode synopses. In MDL, reading comments/reviews and looking at photos might as well give you out spoilers, so I will avoid those too until I finished the whole series. LOL

On the continuation of the story, it should be more after this for obvious reason. The Serizawa's case was like 1/4 of the Shinsengumi journey after all, but I never read the source Manga so I don't know until what point it covers.

Since the fate of the actual Shinsengumi is known to public, it may be the reason why they carelessly did that kind of spoilery synopsis. But still, I totally agree with you that it may "spoiled" the viewers who have no background information about the group. I understand your frustration!

Just watched the first episode and I have to kept telling myself (when watching) that this is based on manga so I have to forgive the authenticity (looking at the fashion and hairstyle)....LOL

The plot and dialogues are very typical of any delinquent drama you can find out there except that it uses the history timeline and event for the story's turning points.

**Just for additional info that this 2 episode SP has been combined with the other 6 episode sequel into an 8 episode series on OTT platforms....so I guess you have to mark your WATCHED list accordingly. The MDL database is correct though.

Group MY–Dramas
can you recommend me a my drama which has eng subs and is considered best atleast in your opinion.
It will be tough. Firstly, while there are some series on iQiyi, VIU, and Netflix, I don't know if they are available for international viewers. Secondly just because those dramas available on OTT, it doesn't guarantee they will be great.

If you manage to see these titles though (on Netflix):
- Good Boys Go To Heaven
- Project: High Council
- One Cent Thief ~ I didn't watch fully but looks like it get good feedback from those who watched
- Generasi: Perfect 10 ~ I didn't watch the whole of it but it's a sport drama so if you're looking for one, that is
- Griya ~ Haven't watched at all but it's an investigation drama and get good feedback

Title Shodo Girls
Rightly paced movie even though the plot is a typical school-girl-coming-of-age. They know how to push the best part to the end so it finishes with a lasting impression.

This was fun albeit a bit satirical. I think the AI was acceptable for this kind of not-so-serious series.

It's an okay-ish episodic crime drama. The time leap mechanism had some loop holes but it's very minor. The production value is high. Interestingly though, the webtoon counterpart of this drama is Josei-centric while the drama is more into seinen.

I watched this without prior manga and anime experience, but I personally think the psychological aspect in this is still quite intriguing. Maybe it didn't carry the darker vibe but that what makes this drama more viewer friendly. OST is also perfect! If you're fan of Regal Lily you must watch this just to listen to music by Takahashi Honoka. She also contributed her voice in some of the OST so it's like a bonus after ANO's and MAJIKO's OP and ED respectively.

Thanks for sharing the link! I like how Japan always give opportunity to younger artist instead of limiting the job to the older dogs.

Maybe not many international fans know about her that's why not much talk about it. I wonder if they've heard about Regal Lily (her band) though. The band has done quite a number of OP/ED for anime, dramas and movies.
