Such a great start, eccentric characters, chaebol daughter to rags in the street with fave pny. Then it just slid into blah. I'm not sure I can even finish it after reading some more comments.
Firstly. I hope YEH doesn't let this discourage her and she does more TV often because she is a wonderful actress who puts her all into each role. Fighting!
Secondly, I loved CJM in What's Up Fox which was hilarious.
Unfortunately, the show really lacked any kind of creativity from the writer(s), set design, director. On paper its a stellar cast but as other people have observed the main pair don't have any observable chemistry. A lot of scenes look like people standing around having a chat in a beige meeting room anywhere; zero entertainment value. Outside scenes at night looked as bleak as the plot is barren of creativity. I just lost interest at some point.
On the other hand loving every episode of Matrimonial Chaos right now. Don't get me wrong; I love this exact genre. But its supposed to be light and fluffy and then very rarely magic happens, nobody knows how. YEH has a lot to do with the magic in Coffee Prince and Lie to Me which are both some of my all-time favorite shows.
WOw ep. 1 was just spectacular, the leads were great, Havana as the romantic setting, music, dance. I am rewatching it now. Ep. 2 was a nutural progression, no weirdness in the script. The main leads teased each other and thank god we didn't get bs loads or corporate filler stuff in a very good ep2.
I am inhaling this drama; I think the cast, writing and directing shine. I love the sets of their respective homes and don't you wish you could sit in grandma's cafe?
I love Bae Doo Na, what a great actress! The art professors friendship with the other dude is very cute. The character of the security dude is frustrating in his sincerity.
This was ok. Not much development between leads because of reapers chasing people with special abilities. The bureaucracy stuff was kind of interesting the first time. It almost seems like a web toon that had to be stretched into full episodes.
Lead actors both did an awesome job. I lost track of which episodes i had watched; you could go from episode 10 to 21 and not miss a whole lot but on the other hand watching all that filler wasn't unpleasant either. Its worth watching for the security couple too.
The thumbnails on wiki and the much of ep. 1 looked grey and bleak. But it cheered up with the lead actress coming in and the OST is great. Worth it for those like me who really don't like to much melo misery.
It's sarcasm. A genre of humour which supposed to make you think rather than Lol. I loved the message they tried…
Glad people are enjoying, I guess not my cup of tea. In ep. 1 at the "... what idiot would come through the window" and he got dirty water dumped on him I was out.
Finally a melo/crime drama that has characters, suspense and isn't needlessly over the top with the misery etc. Tremendous, highly recommended, high five to the cast. I wasn't sure after ep. 1 & 2; but then after reading comments gave it another try and been enjoying it now till ep. 6
I'm missing all this because Dramafever is no more :{ After reading a bunch of the comments I might put it on hold for now. I prefer light and joyous to miserable and dark.
Love this lighter form of sageuk without interminable dark scenes with geezers plotting. Will hold off to marathon this one as amnesia and waiting for oppa on bridge has slowed progression of story to a crawl. Love the main actress.
Now a rant about ratings: Mr. Sunshine should have a higher numerical rating. The run of the mill, forgettable shows should be around 5. The awful ones lower. People don't think in aggregates, averages etc. so they go ahead and give shows an 8. So the ratings get skewed high towards 8+ leaving little differentiation from 8.5-10.
Each episode is a breathtaking movie; there was an inner light that suffused the show from Go Ae Shin, Cpt. Choi, the Right Minister?, The Pawn shop guys, ceramics master/Rebel Leader, Hotel Owner. The darkness of Go Dong Mae's life and end would have overwhelmed other dramas but was well balanced here.
The politics did not bog down the story with dark scenes of weirdly dressed geezers plotting (usual unending sageuk drama).
