Title Intimate Strangers Spoiler
SPOILER: Great ensemble cast and I liked the story.... and the ending...which I understand can ruin it for a lot of people. But this ending makes the discussion about the movie even more thought provoking. Here are a group of friends where the men at least have known each other since they were young children. They are as close as brothers. Yet all of them have kept secrets from each other and from their spouses. Some of the secrets are not so huge, like petty jealousy over the nice home and possessions of Seok Heo and Ye Jin, except when they are aired so suddenly and so publicly they suddenly create pain and rifts between people. Some secrets are huge and are painful in a different way because the secret was not shared when they feel that it should have been. Some secrets are shared between one or two or more and those who find out feel excluded by the others. As the small and medium and large secrets begin to be revealed, the cracks start becoming an earthquake and lifetime relationships are on the verge of breaking. So....was it good to play the game and share so much? I certainly cleared the air. There are relationships which will be better also. But it also broke other relationships and created cracks in others that may fester and destroy them also. Is it worth losing your friend (or your family member) by sharing so much, by being too truthful? There are many memories between these people and many times they have stood by each other in times of trouble. Will all that be destroyed now? Instead of living in ignorance will they spend their lives remembering the terrible way they lost their friends and go through life missing what they lost? Would they have been better off not knowing? The ending wipes the slate. They are back to the beginning and we get to think about what could have been. We see everyone with new eyes and much different opinions about these people than we started out with. The final lines about all of us having Public, Private, and Secret lives is so true. And it is also true that SOME secrets are better staying that way, but other secrets are better shared. A very intriguing movie. I need to find the original Italian one.

It took me to a place I didn't even know I wanted to go to. Absolutely lovely story. Being of an age with the older generation in this movie made it all that much more poignant and relatable.

Childhood is painful for many some of the time, and for many others a lot of the time. No matter the age, it seems like bullies are always there. How do you tell your kids are hurting? What can you really do about it when it happens? Even if you address it, they still walk alone in their world and you cannot be there to protect them. Hug and kiss your children...a lot. They need to know there is one person in this world who loves them unconditionally and completely. It won't make up for what they may have to go through nor stop it from happening, but it just might be enough to give them the strength to endure or survive it.

Straight up snuff film. Not my cup of tea at all. I like dark and violent and don't mind some sex mixed in...but there's a difference and this one gave me an icky feeling...not about the movie...about the people making it and in it. I feel really sorry for Jeon Se Hyun. Really disgusting that she had to endure that.

40/20 eps is too much. At 18/9 I'm kinda getting tired of it because the story is slowing down a lot and there's just nothing new in it. They need to start introducing something besides the bad guys winning and the good guys losing or treading water. It's getting repetitive. Great fight scenes though, and I do love the characters and the acting. It's just the story...there isn't much to it! We know the whole thing already and I'm really afraid we will spend the next 22 episodes just going back and forth over the same ground. Hope KNG is doing okay. Still a solid 8 for me....so far ...just on the strength of the cast and acting. Bad guys are written too one dimensional also. I like my bad guys with some redeeming qualities...not a bunch of mustache twirlers! ;) :)

Thank you for your comment, bmore! I actually have those three shows: My Mister, Misty and Sky Castle in my PTWL!…
I do not trust the reviews here all that much. Age, life experiences, and tastes differ so! I watched a drama that had a 6+ rating and loved it! :) Movies.. I always google the reviews. I also read any articles I can find about the movies. (I'm particularly anal about researching movies before I watch). :) If I start a movie and it's particularly interesting or full of historical data, I will stop and go to google for the wikis etc. I research a lot sometimes if one really touches me.
I am lucky to be retired and have NO life! My time is spent in front of my computer or my big TV with my Roku. Life is good! :)

oh, and I love to watch while airing also. I used to comment a lot, but stopped for the most part. My biggest problem, as I near 70, is that, since I have so many on the go, my old brain takes a while to put the story back together when I'm waiting a week and watching so many others. :) I stopped marathoning currently airing dramas right after they aired for your very reason. I find (esp with the older dramas or sageuks) that I get bored and start FF through some of the middle episodes....or if it's one of those 50 episode monsters.

Even after 7 years, I have so many older dramas (>70) and movies (>150) on my On Hold or PTW lists. I have made a commitment to cut those lists down significantly over this last and next year. I won't live forever! :)

If it's on cable, I'm going to watch it. SO thankful for OCN, JTBC, TVN, etc! They have really forced the terrestrials to up their game also.

I have a feeling Viki felt the same way. I am going to start watching it again soon now that Viki has it. I have to finish Resurrection first. I try to have one older drama on the go all the time with all the current ones I watch, though SKY is not older, I'm anxious to watch it again...and on my TV not my computer screen! I usually am watching 15-20 currently airing dramas at a time! I think it challenges my old brain to keep track of them. SO thankful for this site. It is a lifesaver.

Be prepared to be blown away. That drama is literally saturated with examples for these articles. To say nothing of everything else about it that was amazing.

I remember reading that Blair Witch was the initial culprit we have to thank for it. I think it can work is very short spurts...but, when it's being used too much, or too long in scene, so that the audience becomes aware of it, you've just negated it's usefulness. :)

Like everyone else, I am loving and learning from your articles. You most definitely should keep them coming. I know there are things I would like to ask you, but now I will spend some time cogitating on some questions for you....see if I can remember some of the thoughts or questions that occurred to me in the past, and I will be sure to write them down in the future. But, since I am OLD and I have over 700 Asian dramas and almost 700 Asian movies under my belt and cluttering my mind, remembering what I was curious about during any of them is hard! :)
