I don't see the point in comparing. I seriously adore both show, there's a place for both of them in our hearts.

Kouta is just jaded from all the years of abysmal bad luck he's endured and nothing going right for him. He's never been able to make any long lasting connections but he's not a bad person even if his intentions seem selfish and nefarious at first.

Even to a non-native the difference should be pretty clear. I don't speak Mandarin but I've watched enough Chinese and Taiwanese dramas and I can instantly tell the country of origin of a drama without looking it up.

Pretty cringy overall. The ML and the wolves are adorable, the FL is annoying and frustrating, the plot is ridiculous and and full annoying cliches. For some it might end up being very entertaining but I was quite annoyed by the execution.

I've watched it. I mean, I didn't find it terrible but it's not my fave either. Just as a heads up if you're sensitive to cheating plots, he does have a girlfriend when he has his first kiss with the FL, and then he tries to break up with the gf the same night, but she throws a fit and doesn't accept the break up so he drags that relationship too for a while. Otherwise, there's a lot of angst but also chemistry between the leads.

He's not engaged. His father is pushing the engagement but he never proposed.

He's not married. He actually tried to break up with his gf very soon after the FL confeses but the gf won't accept it and latches on to him.

I didn't really change that much after the 3rd episode. I think Yurika was the worse communicator of the 2. She was never her authentic self around Kaoru, she never told him how she really felt, what she thought. She played at being cute so that's all he thought of her. She expected him to guess, to magically understand what she was all about. Relationships don't work that way, it's a naive, unfair expectation. Nevertheless, I enjoyed this slice of life mini-show.

Thanks for letting me know, if there are other parts of the story that are really great despite this plot then I'm reconsidering watching this.

I like the leads but I'm still not a fan of the premise: PRETENDING TO BE A DOCTOR and treating him with pseudo-science. I wish they had come up with something else. Anyways, he will feel very betrayed when he finds out.

I love this series, I need another season!

I'm a bit traumatized after watching this. There really are people like those bullies in the world and it scares me.

God, another one with amnesia. I absolutely HATE this trope.

This is probably my least favorite version after the Korean one and it has nothing to do with production value but the way the story was told.

The amount of violence against women is shocking. This version of DMS did the most unforgivable things to Shancai and didn't even apologize for it. At the same time, this version of Shancai was the least sympathetic despite having suffered the most, she was infuriating most of the time, I could not understand her decisions. I also didn't see much chemistry between her and DMS anyways. She was one second obsessed with Lei and kissing and hugging him like there's no tomorrow and claiming to be in love with DMS the next. And for once, I was 100% Lei biased, his beautiful face and calm demeanor just steal the show. I like Jerry but the way they wrote his character in this was too much of me, I was genuinely afraid for Shancai and I couldn't ship it.

I understand that this is the OG but I don't think it's aged that well, I'm going to stick to the 2018 one for rewatches.

Sky's constant yelling and screeching was really the nail in the coffin for this one.
