In terms of being open and inclusive the Korean society is similar to America in the sixties. You know 'I Dream…
Ehh what you see in dramas VS the reality is really different. I've stayed in South Korea for close to a year, and a good 30% - 40% of the South Korean population is fat. Also obesity is on the rise in South Korea.
I'm having major issues with this show. I'm just gonna list them here -
1. The fact that she is displaying her powers so openly. We see characters discussing it but what are the freaking implications?! It's not just about attracting villains, but like won't you be attracting all sorts of people who'd want you to help them solve your problems etc Major major lack of logic in the screenplay here.
2. Why is the mum so specifically interested in drugs and its investigation? There are millions of crimes in the world. Why drugs?! Are we ever going to get an answer to this question?
3. Being cute is one thing, but why make Nam Soon behave like a kid? There's a difference between being gullible and innocent, and being kiddish. And here I don't blame the actress, rather the director, because the actress is not a bad actor at all.
4. The parents are responsible for passively supporting the kid stuffing himself, and then when he does, they fat shame him?! Same with the other guy who looks too weak to do anything.. to me it looks more psychological than physical. Why are they not consulting the relevant mental health professional for these two instead of just encouraging their behaviours, and then looking down on them? It is so so problematic. I wouldn't have a problem if the kids appeared too spoilt or lazy to try but here, it seems like both of them need genuine help, and want to change themselves if given the opportunity.
5. Nam Soon spent her entire life in Mongolia and has only just moved to South Korea.. how does she not have any withdrawals or feelings towards the environment she was raised in or her parents?! Even though she studied Korean, she communicates in the language a little too easily. There's a difference between learning and communicating. She's also adjusted to the society and its norms a little too easily, talking about SNS and stuff. Anyway guess I am being nitpicky with this point. So I'll let this one go.
6. Small point, but can they reduce the cringe, please. I hope we won't have any more white people showing up. The 'Bread' character is also way too cringe. I'm all for older people dating but they do have to make it look so crass in trying to be overtly sexy? It just comes across as cringey, and is not funny. Just present it as a mature, adult romance, rather than trying to make a joke out of it.
I really want to root for the characters and enjoy the quirkiness, but the writing is not helping.
Yeah she was stiff, and somewhat one-note [for the lack of a better word] few years back. I think she started improving around Kyou Kara Ore Wa, or a little after that, but yes. it is only in Ousama that I finally saw her as a solid actress.
Damn, this has me ugly crying and I am only at E7. The ML is such a beautiful person.. so rare to find people who can love you unconditionally regardless of the treatment you dish at them :( E8. OMGGGG So you're telling me that eventually he's gonna date his ex's step-daughter?! I'm really loving the FL. She's so straightforward, and smart. A rarity in K drama land! AWWW Nari and Joon Soo are so adorableeeee. I am glad they're starting to hang out together :) E18. OMGGGGTHE LEADS ARE SO DAMNNNNN CUTE. E22. SERIOUSLY THE ML HAS THE MOST INFECTIOUS LAUGHTER EVER. I LOVEEEEEE HIM. E25. URGH I DON'T LIKE THIS ANGLE WITH HYEON SEOK AND THE FL. E29 OMG THE SIBLINGS FINALLY ACKNOWLEDGED HIM AS HYUNG / OPPA *HAPPY TEARSSS* I wonder why the chairman is going out of his way to be Na Ri's friend.. I hope there's no birth secret hidden.. E38. Hyeon Seok / Ju Yeon are beginning to grow on me Grew bored after 40+ episodes.. sigh.. will put this on hold for now.
MDL generally has horrible profile pics of celebs so I am usually not surprised but this one definitely takes the cake of being the worst one. Fans can't be the one choosing these pics.
Question is other than the leads, who isn't annoying? HAHA
The weekend dramas I loved weren't this bad though. Most of them are more than a decade old, and yet, most of the characters were pretty tolerable, and even likeable to an extent. This one, on the other hand, has everyone being damn toxic and unlikeable. I love toxic and unlikeable characters so that's not the issue for me. The issue is the way they are presented. Anyway I'll wait to see how much longer I can take this. Just my opinion but the quality of weekend dramas has definitely deteriorated. I ended up dropping most of the weekend dramas in recent years. The older ones were way better.
The mum approving the ML and moving straight to "She must consummate" LMAOOOOOOOO
DYINGGGG!
Also, is it just me or Nam Soon and the fake daughter look eerily alike?
