Maybe it’s because I’m watching Okaeri Mone at the same time that I can’t take the theme of this drama seriously. Okaeri Mone depicts weather forecasting, nature & the relationship between the different elements of nature so so realistically & well. I gained so much information about our planet from that drama. I hope this will at least deliver on the romance like other PMY dramas.
This was such a mess. This tops my list for the drama with the most frustrating characters. The only character I liked was the FL’s best friend, Yim. Everybody else was irritating & stupid. Sorry but even Push couldn’t save this drama.
Interesting article! I enjoyed most J drama remakes more than the originals. But I do feel that Japan in itself has so much variety & originality that they don’t need remakes :)
I really liked this drama. People aren’t perfect, and I felt like this was realistic in depicting the journey of two very imperfect people who found each other. Nao, as always, was great.
What happen to Taiwanese dramas. I cannot find any good ones anymore
There have been some good ones the past few years.. just that they're not that popular. But yes, I agree - the quality of TW dramas have declined. Back in the late 90s and early 2000s, I practically watched every T drama. They were so so good.
Some really good T dramas from recent years -
The World Between Us Someday or One Day Nowhere Man On Children
YES for Mars! What a masterpiece! I liked the other dramas you mentioned as well.
There are too many brilliant dramas from that era, but these are some of my MUST WATCH recommendations:
The Rose (Taiwanese) In A Good Way (Taiwanese) Love, Now (Taiwanese) Kekkon Dekinai Otoko (Japanese) Soredemo Ikite Yuku (Japanese) Zeni Geba (Japanese) Byakuyako (Japanese) Sawan Biang 2008 (Thai) Queen In Hyun's Man (Korean) The Legend (Korean)
I concur with the comments. I have no idea wtf I just watched. It's like the editing team just patched different scenes together one after the other. The film lacked flow. The direction was unique. I didn't hate it completely, but some of the camera angles did throw me off at times in that they were distracting to the dialogue. Sometimes, you gotta let the camera stay at the actor's face & not have it move all the freaking time. The characters also didn't have much development or back story. I don't know it just felt like the entire team got together for a few days, and were like let's do what we can with this. I wouldn't recommend this.
This wasn't as bad as the comments / reviews, but yes it could have been a lot better. I wish the focus was more on the romance between the leads, rather than the 2nd ML's childishness which hogged up so much screen space, and the boring side stories of the FL's friends. Generally, I don't comment on the path a show should have gone, but in the case of this drama, I expected different based on the first few episodes. I expected a whirlwind kinda romance, given that the leads were in love for 3 lives. The leads did a decent job, but the script failed to deliver why their connection was so special. Very lazy writing IMO.
As a j drama lover, I am always happy to see articles on J dramas, esp the ones you write :)
I hope this will at least deliver on the romance like other PMY dramas.

Date is so awesome!! Very clever & witty for a romcom. Agree, it's so underrated.
