Hey you're welcome, I hope you did watch most of them.
I did watch a lot of them, and couldn't agree more with what you said. There's something about the older dramas that hit you differently - the simplicity, the vibe, the innocence yet complexity, the music, the chemistry.. basically I could just go on & on.
There's just something about older J dramas & movies that hit you differently - the vibe, the music, the simplicity (yet complexity) of the characters, the way people interacted, the romance, the chemistry. I can see why this was so popular back in the day. It's a classic. There was an innocence & sincerity to the storytelling that moved me. It got me reminiscing about growing up in simpler times. All in all, this was a lovely coming of age drama that left me feeling good. The second half especially took me by surprise (in a good way) with the focus on friendship, ambition & taking charge of your own life; all that emodies transitioning into a young adult. Also, I am downloading that OST! I loved it so so much. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to watch a simple, feel good drama with a high nostalgic value.
I really enjoyed this drama. So so good. Just the right amount of humour, yet it managed to stay grounded and real. I appreciated the friendship between the 3 women, their growth and the flawed characters overall. I didn't dislike any of the characters. Maybe because I am of a similar age group as the 3 women, I related strongly to how they felt. Really good writing, acting and OST. Recommended for a slightly older / mature audience who understand that relationships aren't always hunky dory and that doing the right thing is easier said than done. Heck, whoever said that we always have to do the right thing; life is far beyond rights and wrongs.
I just started this and didn't realise Suzuki Ryohei was in this too! I loved his pairing with Yoshitaka in Hanako to Anne so much! I hope they will be paired together in this too :)
Congratulations to both of them! They look good together :) I have been watching Shin Hye since Stairway of Heaven days so this definitely makes me feel old.
YES YES YES I love so many of these dramas & movies!! Thank you so much for this article. Now I need to check out Squid Game. Hope it's as good as they say. Appreciate that you always share & review Japanese content, they deserve so much more viewership & appreciation esp here on MDL :)
Their wedding at the end is easily one of the most natural & beautiful wedding sequences I have seen in a drama. The way they looked at each other, the words they said, the way they kissed each other so many times, the rain, and all that happiness glowing on their faces & everyone's faces... lost count of how many times I have re-watched it.
And Sakamato Yuji did it again. A charming, relatable & quirky drama filled with interesting characters, rich interactions & their delightful stories; this was a fulfilling watch in every way. I'm gonna miss the banter between all the characters so so much. In the months of watching this, I grew so attached to all of them. They truly felt like home. Highly recommended for all!
When Hanako lost her son, it reminded me of how I experienced the same thing a few months ago, it was very hard…
Thank you for your recommendations! Okaeri Mone has been on PTW list for sometime. I wanted to binge it after it ended. Guess I'm gonna watch that next.
