so it's likely that the master mind is a local (be it the police, rangers, townfolk, conservationists, etc). because of that, it seems odd that they would target some of the locals and use potato bombs, as this would just draw more attention within the mountain-side community.
i also wonder if there is some connection amongst the victims. in the last episode the show deliberately panned onto the notebook a few times and had se wook read the list of names with death locations/causes. there must be some meaning behind that.
one thing for sure is that the person behind everything is a master manipulator if he/she could brainwash se wook into killing yang sun and framing the grandfather, both who were supposedly close to him. i suspect everyone at this point -- even the girl searching for her lottery ticket. lol.
it's been a while since we've had any death-game themed blockbusters (ie, hunger games), so part of SG's popularity can be due to filling an undersaturated need. korean entertainment has also been in the spotlight the last couple of years so that has definitely played a role in SG garnering more attention over AIG. plus, SG is actually an interesting and well done drama, so once it began to trend on netflix, it's no surprise that it continued to exponentially snowball. with covid and the financial instability it has brought to many, i also think SG deeply resonates with people the world over, as it touches on the concept of crippling debt and the choices people would make if given the opportunity to get rid of it. i liked both but AIG has the slighter edge for me.
i was so disappointed when joseon exorcist was cancelled. based off the two episodes that aired, it really seemed like it could have been a good drama.
i still like him as an actor for certain roles.... ie, he does the brooding and cold male lead relatively well. but like others have mentioned, he needs to improve his micro-expressions. especially if he wants to take on more challenging roles in the future.

i've seen dramas with much worse subtitles, to the point where you can barely understand the interpretation because they are a garbled mess. outside of "mount jirisan" and maybe a few other instances, the subtitling team is doing a fantastic job translating. so i'm fine with a few mistakes if it means that i can watch and understand a drama that would normally be inaccessible for us non-korean speakers.
the poachers were knowingly in a restricted area. and while the husband didn't deserve to die, it irks me how in kdramas people will blame others for their own mistakes, and the other party who isn't at fault has to take the blame. it just doesn't make sense to me. is korean culture really like this? or is this aspect just over dramatized in shows? anyhow, great writing and directing so far as expected from Kim Eun Hee and Lee Eung Bok.
i enjoyed Love O20, but YAMG took it up a notch for me. i thought i was the only one that hated dilraba's makeup in YAMG. so glad to see someone else point out how awful it looked. it was caked on and her face color never seemed to match her neck color.
i was getting anxiety every time one of the characters would stand by a cliff's edge and then the camera would pan all the way down to the bottom. lol.
These dramas are hyped because alot of people enjoyed them, so they must be doing something right to appeal to the masses. lol. But i'd have to agree that every year there's a few dramas that no matter how popular they are, i just can't get behind -- for me this year it's Doom at your Service and Vincenzo.
