Hi em45, thank you so very much for that explanation, and for directing me to your response. It’s time for all…
You're most welcome! Thanks for taking time to respond.
This show was made for domestic broadcast so I doubt they were thinking interntaionally, but I agree it's good for countries to recognise cross-cultural viewing

I think others have already talked below but if it helps, here is another explanation for the title. I'm a native Japanese speaker and I can see that translated into English it sounds bad/inappropriate. However, in this context "Black" is refering to not colour or ethnicity but rather refers to the seemingly endless or toxic situations that are imposed upon the women. It's why the synopsis says they have "subjective opinions, prejudices and even a little bit of poison". For example, we have a phrase ブラック企業 (Burakku Kigyou/ Black Company) and it refers to a company with bad working conditions. The English equivalent would be something like "toxic workplace". Unfortunately, this show doesn't have an English title, or else I'm sure it would have been translated differently. Overall, the nuance of the title it more like "toxic tea". In the same ways English uses foreign words differently to what they originally mean, this is just an example of Japanese using a foreign loan word and developing its meaning culturally.

I wrote it but 10 years! He is 26 and she is 16 (the actors are only 4 years apart- he is 30 and she is 25/26)
Well I suppose they were a bit younger at the time of filming since it was released in 2025

So far, it’s not a major part of the story. Just a way to show that she’s married to someone in the navy.…
The official drama site says the story is set in Showa 11 (1936) so I don't think it will go into the war

As someone who is a big fan of the manga, I have to say after watching ep1 I'm a little disappointed with some of the creative choices/changes but I'm willing to be proved wrong and will stick it out 😭
