Once again mangotv has damaged another drama that would have brought joy to me...😭😭How is it that mangotv…
I wish. ^^'

But you can request for this to be subbed on places like Viki. Even if you don’t have a subscription, as long as Viki subs it, soon after it will be available on free sites.

I have submitted the form quite a few times myself:

Currently on the first 5 mins and you're right, this has a makjang feel to it. That's why I checked and made sure…
Ikr? The first episode makes you want to confirm if you saw the episode count right. XD

This has that 50 episode makjang vibe all over it but they were smart to keep it short at 12 episodes. The idea was interesting, it was satisfying to see the FL getting revenge and main leads had good chemistry.

Although this was short I still skipped a few scenes here and there. If I try to compare it to the regular 16 episode drama, this was not that amazing to me, but if I see it as a condensed makjang, which was what it felt like, then it was a pretty good one.

It feels like the writer couldn't explain the plot, on another note, the plot imo translate way better as novel…
I think so too. Some plots are just better on "paper". It is hard for us as viewers to understand what the writer was trying to convey when even the writer doesn’t know. ^^'

It started well and I was invested for most of the drama, watching every week as soon as the episodes aired. But I did feel it went downhill near the end and was wrapped up in a way that felt like the writers were not sure how to deal with the "monster" they had created.

The premise was quite complex, although the plot itself was lacking, so whatever way they chose to wrap this one up it would be hard to satisfy us. No one wants a tragic ending but viewers would also not be satisfied with an open-ending or a happy ending that did not make sense or was unexplained.
They had to make a decision, was it the best one, it depends on who you ask.

Overall it was an enjoyable ride although I have to admit this is far from being a masterpiece. Kim Young Dae carried the drama on his back. If it was not for him I am not sure I would have kept watching until the end.

for no misunderstandings, no love triangles, few chars, simple but very well exec. drama, awesome acting, please…
Why? I rarely drop dramas. Only 6 out of 40 episodes are out. A lot can happen and the plot can improve. And I will probably watch the whole thing even if I don’t think it is great just so I can watch Zhao Lu Si.

As a Zhao Lu Si fan of course I have already watched Hidden Love. It was one of my favorite dramas of 2023.

I like all Zhao Lu Si characters, she nails all of them. But her character here will not be enough for me to give this a high rating. I have to enjoy the ride and not feel like I am forcing myself to watch. So I will keep watching and hoping I warm up to it because so far I am not impressed. :(

Young adults? Did you get something wrong while watching this drama? I am far from being a teen and the thought…
Oh ok, I thought you had already finished. Sorry if I spoiled anything.

I watched all 6 episodes already because there was so much I skipped. There is too much going on, too many characters and subplots. In episode 1 alone they introduced so many characters that did not even seem that important to me. And to start already with such a big misunderstanding is annoying.

Maybe I was expecting too much because I am a huge Zhao Lu Si fan and have enjoyed almost all of her dramas. Not sure this one will make it to the list but I will keep watching and see what happens.

I don’t even need to watch. Just from the trailer and synopsis I can tell this will be just another one of those boring cliché overly dramatic lacking an actual plot kind of drama. I‘m out.

P.S. - And to make it worse they have Dai Gao Zheng as a supporting character, making the male lead look less handsome. ^^'

I think this is the latest trend that nowadays city folks are rushing to work, busyness in life…so they came…
I have watched quite a few short dramas that were pretty good, including Provoke. This one is just too short and the editting is too choppy. No matter how hard the actors are trying, whoever was responsible for cutting the scenes and putting them together did a pretty bad job.

In terms of editting, this was the worst I have seen in a short drama, probably because I rarely even bother watching 2 mins per ep dramas. Usually I watch the ones that are like 10-15 mins per episode.

P.S. - I already knew this was a trend because of how busy people are in China and how much they use public transportation. But I think it would be a lot better if people worked less instead of making dramas shorter. People are getting sick with so much work, they are no longer working to live but living to work. Overtime should be banned. Mental health would be much better and suicide rates lower if people were allowed to have more time for themselves instead of being overworked.

Young adults? Did you get something wrong while watching this drama? I am far from being a teen and the thought…
I hate people who do that. Even when I am not into a drama I always give it a few episodes before I decide if I want to keep watching. Some dramas start slow and get better later on.

This one I judged after watching the whole drama and based on my previous experience, which is of thousands of dramas watched over a period of almost 15 years.

Some of the things that bothered me were the pacing which felt a little too slow for my taste, the FL character that was given little importance, specially in the last episode (what happened after she went back, she did not even show up until the last moment) and how the things the ML changed in the past made life so convenient for him and his family in the future that it made all the suffering him and his family went through worth nothing. Our past experiences influence the type of people we become, and all that was taken from them. The ending was very superficial for a drama that was supposed to have a deep and emotional message.

I am just ranting at this point, but yeah, even if we have different opinions, you can be sure I am not one of those haters that do not even bother watching, I watched the whole thing. ^^'

You might be an exception to the rule. I am about to turn 30 and would have also enjoyed this drama if it was done better. I have previously enjoyed many youth and high school dramas.

The pacing was not the best, it was full of plot holes and the way it ended made all the struggles worth nothing. The FL’s character was also what writers call "cardboard character".

It could have been a great drama, it had some great ideas, but the execution was just average.

This feels like it was made for tik tok or something because of how short it is and how long it takes for each episode to come out. The editing is tik tok level too, choppy like I have never seen.

The only reason the rating is this high is because of the kisses and we all know it. ^^'

K-dramas have evolved over the past few years because of how their distribution methods have changed. K-dramas…
You are not wrong but I am not talking about blood, knives, tattoos and "normal" stuff, there was brain matter, eyeballs, boobs, sex scenes, naked butts, all things that were unnecessary. They were not needed to make this a great drama.

Creative freedom is good but it still needs some limits. Freedom itself is a very abstract concept and I remember a teacher telling me something like "our freedom ends where someone else’s freedom starts".

The reason why I, and most people I know, even got into kdramas was because they were not full of sex scenes, profanity, drugs and all that trash you find in western entertainment, not just American tv shows.

Like I said in my previous comment, the gore part did not really bother me and it makes sense since this is a pretty violent plot, but I did not need nor wanted to see boobs, sex scenes and a fat old man’s naked butt.^^'

I still think this was pretty well done and will definitely watch the second season when it comes out.

2 years later I finally watched it. Back when it had just aired I was bombarded with so many spoilers all over YouTube and social media because of how hyped it was that I did not even feel like watching anymore. I mean, without watching I found out the winner, the plot twist, everything.

But finally I decided to give it a chance and try to enjoy the process, the games, the acting, without caring much for the surprise element.

The plot is quite interesting BUT the reason why it became so popular all around the world is the same reason why I think this was good but not great.

The truth is this is a kdrama tainted by American hands.

Of course with all the deaths it is going to be violent but it had unnecessary gore just for the shock value (which personally does not really bother me but I am sure bothered a lot of people).
It also had nudity and sex scenes that honestly just made it feel even more like an American TV show rather than a Korean drama.

So yeah, good but not great. Would have been much better if it kept its true Korean drama essence.

According to you what is best K drama
I have literally watched thousands of dramas in the past 15 years, you can check my profile if you don’t believe me, so it is hard to just pick one to be the best.

I have a few as reference in different genres from historical, to thriller, to youth, and the list goes on. It would take a while to list them all.

Some wise words. I thought that I was the only one who noticed how hyped this one was. Some of the best dramas I have watched are not even rated as high as this one. ^^'

To say this is overrated is an understatement.

You might have enjoyed the music, the father-son bonding, and other things but plotwise this was far from being a great drama. The current rating (9.2) puts this drama next to if not before some of the best k-dramas of all time, the ones that we might even call masterpieces.

My guess is most of the watchers are teenagers and young adults which is why this drama had so much hype. It is not the first hyped drama that came out in 2023 that I was not impressed with, might not even be the last. ^^'

This is just my honest opinion, don’t be offended by it.
