The director and also screewriter for this drama has a very unique style and usually people either love it or hate it.

From all his dramas the only one I can say I really liked was My Journey to You and even that one had a disappointing ending, always felt like it needed a second season.

Fangs of Fortune was as popular as this one but it was not my cup of tea, if I had to choose I still prefer this one over FoF.

I also watched Ice Fantasy back in 2017 and almost dropped it right on the first episode. The CGI was really bad and the ending...well, let's just say not many characters were left alive by the end. ^^'

I will have to completely agree with you on that. Dramas lately are all more of the same, in that sense VoS was definitely unique and one of the reasons why I kept watching.

I think you can tell by my comment that I did not hate the drama at all, there were things I definitely liked about it, I just did not love it as much as most people in the comment section did.

I see why you would be confused about that statement but that is exactly how messy it was for me. I feel like I would have to re-watch the whole drama and write down everything to be able to point them out. So much happened and some subplots conflicted with previous subplots.

I have been watching dramas for over 15 years now and have watched all sorts of complex plots with everything from time travel to alternate universes yet this was the most complex plot I have come across, and like I previously said, not complex in a good way as in something so smart that not everyone is able to understand. It was more like a bunch of loose ideas stitched together in a way that is almost impossible to fully grasp. Like a genius artist frenetically painting something that you think is good but are not sure what it is supposed to be.

Don´t come for me, but I think after watching the whole thing I am entitled to an opinion even if it does not match what most people think.

This was a visually appealing drama with a good looking cast, nice outfits, good CGI and editing. Seeing Tian Jia Rui on screen was a delight, he did not even have to say anything, he could just be there showing all that longing and loneliness in his eyes for me to be mesmerized by him. I kept watching mostly for Lu Wu Yi and Ji Ling and there were several episodes that I felt were pretty interesting to watch and that kept me hooked.

BUT...the plot was just not my cup of tea. There were way too many characters, way too many subplots. One episode someone is the most powerful of them all, the next episode it is someone else and new characters keep showing up, characters that I am supposed to care about right away even tho I know nothing about them and they might even just be there for a few episodes and not contribute that much to the plot.

The plot is so complex (not in a good way) that I cannot even point out plot holes because there are plot holes inside plot holes, way too many characters, rewinds, alternate universes, there is just too much going on and the transition from one subplot to another is not always the smoothest, which to be fair could be due to censorship or editing issues. The ending was better than I expected but not great.

If I had to sum it up, this was a pretty mess that I sort of enjoyed watching, do not regret watching, but that I would not recommend or think of re-watching.

It actually made sense for it to end that way. No one ever knew who she really was, not the people around her, not the detective and not us the viewers. At this point, even she might have forgotten who she originally was.

Thrillers are not for everyone. I actually like complex stories with plot twists or unanswered questions. Not in my romance dramas, but love it in thrillers.

I enjoyed making up theories as to what happened and getting the first of them right but not being able to come up with all the details. I have noticed a lot of people nowadays do not like plots they cannot understand or that do not give them all the answers.

There have not been many kdramas in recent years that I really enjoyed and this one was pretty interesting, I did not feel bored. The acting was great which really helped. Maybe if they had chosen a different actress I would have not enjoyed it as much but thankfully they chose the right actress for this role.

It took me basically half of the drama to get into the story. This would have worked better as a movie. There just wasn't enough depth for this to be a 10h long story.

For the first 5 episodes or so I was just wondering which popular actor would play her "boyfriend" next. This must have been expensive to make with so many popular actors showing up left and right. I guess if eye candy is all you need, this one is for you.

With that said, it was not all bad. Usually a drama starts well and then goes downhill, but I actually found the second half better because it was no longer just fluff, there were real feelings and people involved.

I am aware of the accusations the public is making but no formal accusations have been made so for now it is all speculation.

And the person I replied to said this drama was recorded in 2023, 2 years before Yu Menglong's death, so it clearly was not the reason why she chose to do this drama, and that is why I said her decision to be in this short drama was weird.

Exactly. From episode 1 alone the characters seem pretty similar in the way they act, talk, liking nice clothes and cars, etc.

He is definitely doing a great job. Dilraba was also a really good choice for this role, it needed an actress that would give off a more mature and full of responsabilities vibe, that is kind but hides under a cold facade. I could imagine Bai Lu doind this role too but I have not seen Dilraba as often lately so it was nice they chose her.

That is so dumb. Anyone who has watched other IU dramas knows this is not even the first time where she has a role where she uses comedy. In fact, I think in most of her roles there were moments where she did something funny or was a bit silly. Not like she was sad and crying the entire time.

This tik tok generation of people has little patience. They want things to happen and happen fast. Probably were expecting the main leads to be married by the end of the episode so it was too slow for them. And everything also has to be overly explained so they can understand what is going on when they are not paying attention because they are also scrolling through social media while "watching" the drama.

I knew when he killed that woman who he "saved" and she said "One day you will also die at the hands of the person you love" that this is where it was headed. Yan Ke, Simu is coming for you.

She IS older than him, A LOT OLDER and mature women will often have that older sis vibe, I know because I am like that around people I care about and I am also an actual older sister.

When a person has so much baggage like the FL does, a goofy person like the ML is exactly what she needs. For him, a woman that does not need his protection and can even protect him is also part of why he admires her.

Not all couples have to be a younger immature weak woman and an older mature strong man.

They might not have the best chemistry I have seen but it is there, specially from his side.

That is weird. Well established actors do not usually choose short dramas over regular length dramas. I guess she must have had her reasons.

About the suicide rates I was talking in general, not about China specifically. Tha cancel culture has caused a lot of people to see suicide as the only way out.

I have been watching dramas for many years but try to stay away from gossip, channels and social accounts talking about actors and their privates lives and such. I wish people would just enjoy dramas without fixating so much on what the actors do or do not do off-screen.

The cancel culture of recent years has been awful. No wonder suicide rates are going up.
