thank you for the genius article. I really enjoyed it.especially the part "Low and behold this gem was ‘Made in Korea’" XDD
i think including the ugly sweaters in the k-dramas is also thoughtful. it makes the whole drama's fashion look real. like you see them wear unbelievably stylish costumes and you get closer and closer to being lame since it's all the works of a designer or specialist, then comes the ugly sweater and [since every real person picks the wrong clothes once in a while,] all of a sudden - and maybe subconsciously - you think to yourself: "maybe there really isn't a costume designer. maybe the characters pick up their own clothes after all. I know it's absurd and doesn't always work; but that's how it hits the back of my mind, when it does.
and like what black piano keys do to the white ones, makes all the beautiful costumes and make ups (especially some otherwise unnoticeable ones) in the drama really stand out.
i'm only watching it because it's dubbed and broadcasting in my country. that at dinner time! and since someone likes it here, i have to watch the writers tear my favorite historical figures apart and ruin them as i eat. you know how painful it is?
the only positives are some actual badass women and good plot twists.
there are so many battles yet almost no choreography. the characters are so inconsistent it could damage one's brain. they turned Seon Deok into a useless wimp! and ChunChu into a politically idiotic genius! and Yushin into a lolicon; i mean look at his wife! after this ends (and it just doesn't), i'm gonna need to clean my ears and eyes by watching QSD again and just hope that it works :(
what happened to her father at the end? i kind of zoned out while watching ><
He disappeared watching Yeon Joo from his car on the street inside the manhwa; but before that, he wrote to Kang Chul not to let Yeon Joo Know. asked him to tell her daughter he's living happily inside the world he created and is not coming back.T_T
lol I'm a Lee Jun Ki fan myself but even i have to admit It's really ridiculous how DOTS and MLSHR fans just vote for these two shows in every category, regardless of how they actually did. makes me regret voting 'cause it's turned into something like this:
best drama: who's hottest (probably among LJK and SJK)?
best actor: who's hottest(same)?
best supporting: who's the hottest(same!!)?
best OST(!!!): who's hottest(same; tho Moon Lovers had the best OST for me)?
they probably even judge the best actress based on these two lol
and K2 had a pretty awesome OST with all those chorus songs. :(
No.1 and 5, i agree. but really? Lee Bang Won & Mu Hyul (Six Flying Dragons) ... Lee Jae Han & Park Hae Yeong (Signal)? i figure you haven't watched them. these two alongside Goblin & Reaper would be my top3 choices.
Thank you for the very good article^^. But I'm just waiting for this to finish airing and then watch. please don't make it any more difficult than it already is T_T
Your review and the performances you favored; remind me of the exact reasons why i lost interest in American dramas: actors with overrated facial expressions yet no real feelings in the eyes. they sob like crazy, scream and even their nose running and saliva just pouring out of their mouth lol when all you have to do is believe the feeling.instead of trying so hard to show feelings they actually don't feel. and it's most obvious in their eyes.
P.S. about that saliva nose running thing: do Korean actors all go to the same acting class? most seniors do that and it makes fun of supposedly tragic scene o.o
was boring then it became really good after ep.09. but most of the rating i gave was for the OST. "A witch of forest" and the main theme were WOW.
and of course SYA amazing acting.
All kinds of romance exist in there. two sided, one sided, villain in love even love triangles but they're not the main theme. mostly side stories (except the lead couple). but there again, the whole drama felt like related side stories. in a good way tho.
some people say that Ka Suo & Li Luo didn't have much chemistry; but i definitely felt it (which i usually don't). those two did everything for each other, it's just that the second couple(?) were more... exiting and the bromance overshadowed it all XD
I have to say I didn't like Memet Madina before. Her acting felt forced to me but I guess this was just how…
I think so. like Feng William and Ray Ma (ma tian yu). ;) tbh, i'm not too familiar with them either. I rarely watch C-dramas and usually drop them halfway. This one was a rarity.
I really wanna watch this but the only time i saw Hu Ge was in Xuan Yuan Sword i absolutely hated him there. i don't even know why. he did a good job there and his character had layers :(
