Exactly, then the story has an extra dimension. I also used to focus on the main plot (the main couple) but then, I don't even remember when, I found that in most cases the supporting characters and plots are more interesting. They are written and played with more freedom, as if they didn't have the pressure of leading the story. As for The Wolf, a lot of people (including me) really wanted them to film a second season dedicated just to the second couple, we liked their story so much at the end of the drama :)

Whether someone is suited for serious roles or idol dramas depends on their individual skills and ambitions, not just industry trends or marketing narratives.

I think you remember this drama quite well. Personally, I rated it very highly, not because of the main couple, but because of the second couple. To be honest, Bo Na, whom I couldn't stand at first, really captivated me in the second half, and for me, all my attention shifted to the second couple. I also really liked Ji Chong, so for me, the second half was carried by this couple, and their interactions were absolutely adorable.

I think many girls/women watching this drama found satisfaction in the second couple, which is why the negative emotions surrounding the main couple were overshadowed.
