very nice article!:D i think the phenomenon is really fascinating. and i also think it's a very old concept in asia. like somenone said before in japan girl-looking men were playing women's roles in theater. in china also there were two ideals of men coexisting: the strong warrior and the gentle scholar. it was actually under western influence that the of soft and gentle masculinity was deemed as negative. but of course it was important that the good looking guy was intelligent, so he could be an official and have power!;)(sorry for my rant, i wrote a paper about this^^°)
it's very interesting to see the revival of those 'flower boys' thanks for all those information.
and my personal opinion: i think some asians just don't have a choice but to be a flower boy. seriously there was more than one time i really couldn't tell if the person was boy or girl. how can they be soo cute? and have no facial hair at all°_°
"During the ‘blamed’ financial crisis of 1997, women started to perceive themselves equal to their men.…
i think it's the fact that women changed and got more confident to choose the man they want, men had no choice but to change themselves. how women and men see each other always has influence on how they perceive themselves. so if women are looking for softer men, those men will have more success and other men see that and start to change themselves. wow that sounds so much like darwinism^^° well we're also just mammals:D
i looooove your article!:D you know the toilet scenes were actually one of the first things about drama that i loved!because it is natural!and yet so hilarious. whenever i watched movies i always asked myself: don't they need to use the bathroom? and then my wishes were fulfilled. yeah i'm that kind of weird person.^^° but i find it really strange when they are unconscious and fall ill because of indigestion and suddenly it's all romance. the guy has to take care of the girl because she couldn't eat and sh*t properly! whaaat?!XD but yeah, thanks for writing this great article! we should make like a collection of all the toilet scenes^___^
Just wondering, does Han Tae Sang have a mustache during all the eps or is it just a temporarily thing? Must sound…
hahaha:D i also find it weird. is the mustache supposed to make him look older or more gangster? but i have to admit i'm not looking at his mustache, because i'm too distracted by is super nice body.i only watched 2 episodes and he was half naked so many times!^__^
All the actors are brilliant but the story was just bad! Another drama with aesome actors but incredibly poor…
i agree with you, but it's not only joo won, there were other great actors too.especially the 'bad guys'! i could sympathise with them. if only the story hadn't dragged that much it could have been great.
I really like this drama but I feel it's lacking in the action section... but other than that I'm really enjoying…
totally agree with both of you!but now i'm at the point where i want and need to see the end. even though i don't have any high hopes for this anymore. why did it turn out this way?~_~
just watched ep. 17... aaah i know this is drama and all but really! how can they be so bad as agents? they know his face and should know he's still after team leader. why do two innocent policemen have to be killed, because they are to stupid to catch that guy?! i don't know, but i really wish he and the girl took their revenge on that director guy, he's the biggest asshole. sorry~.~ i just feel so mad. i didn't expect the drama to turn out this way. i just want it to finish soon^^°
:D this article made we start watching it again! i put it on hold, because everyone but the main couple annoyed me.^^° well, they still annoy me, but jung in and hyun soo are just too cute~ thanks for reminding me of this!^^
i love gokusen!!<3<3 i think school dramas are very entertaining and give a deeper insight to asian culture. when i still went to school i thought it was so different from our system and i wondered why are they so obsessed with school? but in asia they really do spend most of their youth in school, school is their life, so it has more meaning to them. anyways great article!i'm curious for the next part!:)
aah~ it's such a lovable drama. i wish there were more drama in busan, somehow i really like the sound of the dialect. but there is one thing i have to say: i can't believe there was really a band called 'sechs kies'. it does not mean crystal in german, 'kies' is a type of stone and a really ordinary one! the six stones haahahaXD guess they had the wrong dictionary^^°
I watched first 2 eps of the drama, some eps of the anime and read 20 volumes of the manga. I dropped the manga…
hahaha:D it's annoying true. it's the same with meitantei conan, shinichi should have reached his old age a long time ago and be married to ran, already having a child the age of conan.
