to think mitsuko could've been saved if she had locked the taxi door or if the taxi driver just DROVE or called the police or literally ANYTHING to help the woman clearly trying to run away from something
incredibly sad and tragic, yet confusing and absurd at the same time. the "based on true events" is VERRRY light. the real events were horrific and while this one was certainly uncomfortable, they seemed to romanticize it in a way? like all the killings were justified in some way (which shouldn't be). it was not an easy watch at all. besides a lot of continuity issues where things would just...happen, expect some pretty gruesome torture scenes, self-harm, violence, nudity (without sex), sex scenes, and dismemberment. there's limited gore but there's a good amount of blood.
it's hard to really review this movie. it's confusing, it's a mess, it's long as hell, but it was never boring, it was intense, it was somehow poetic despite being romanticized and comedy-ified. i would never watch this ever again because of how traumatic it is, yet i can't say this was a bad movie at all. dare i say it was good? borderline good. i would never recommend, but i'd also never say avoid. it's somehow enthralling where you can't look away. though, i doubt i could give it higher than a 4. it's almost overwhelming how many things there are to think about or feel afterwards. it's as much of a mess as the movie was lol. it's more like an experience. something you need to watch to fully comprehend, to feel, to understand. it's indeed a sono sion film.
"I broke up with my girlfriend last September. The reason? Why are you asking me that, it's embarrassing me. My ideal woman is someone who's smart and cute. Someone who dresses well according to each situation, but doesn't overdo it. What I think is ugly is when women with thick thighs and short legs wear skinny jeans. Or those that wear leggings and a miniskirt and sit with their legs spread open on the subway... I sincerely ask those people to stop."
of course everyone has their preferences, but voicing them out on a public interview AS a celebrity is just horrible, especially for those who have those features. it's clear that he judges primarily on physical appearance and looks down on those he doesn't deem attractive enough.
the last quote comment left out a little bit at the end where he says:
"I've said this in almost every interview but whether they be a male or female, I like them to be pretty. I know that it's not necessary to say things like this but I'll look at someone's physical appearance and say, "I don't like that person. I don't think they'll match me." Then my friends will be like, 'Hyung, you're really mean, you know that?'" basically admitting that he knows what he's doing and how it affects others. he's aware he judges others on appearance and others are aware as well.
it makes me really sad because i used to be SUCH a big fan of him. he actually acted as my favorite drama character ever (do min ik from secret life of my secretary to which i am trying so so hard to separate the actor from the character), but it's hard to look past this, esp given he himself is a model and obviously genetically blessed. i can't even begin to fathom how many people he's looked down on based on appearances. the poor fans who've met him as well. of course i hope he's changed, though i highly doubt it because once you have that mindset (and are a model) it can get really hard to get out of it.
a weaker crime plot, but still entertaining nevertheless. the standout was easily the main found family/friendships. mostly character-driven with nice bits of romance. i can't help but smile every time i think of the characters. gonna miss them a lot
definitely one of the cutest romance miniseries i've seen. the first half is your typical thai absurdity, but the second is extremely heartwarming. great chemistry with both leads being quite lovable on their own. highly recommend
I kinda agree. But you saying people who love the original shouldnt watch it, you confirm that most of those bash…
true, but people who love the originals of any ip tend to prefer that one no matter what because well...they love it and it's the original. people who love the original don't necessarily bash the drama without watching it, but they'll likely be more critical about it if they already know the original story and characters so well. it's like that with every remake usually + comparisons. i said people who didn't like the original could try this version out because of its different atmosphere and those who never watched the original so they didn't have anything to compare it to.
yall don't have to bash the original just because you like this one better and want to "prove" it š i definitely wish they went for a completely different story/heist while using the same heist concept, but what we got really isn't that bad, esp if you've never seen the original. the pacing is a bit fast, the characters aren't as intriguing (imo), and the atmosphere isn't as gritty or dark. however, it is still an exciting heist with lots of twists and great moments. while i personally prefer the more realistic feel of the original, this one is still a good watch.
if you're on the fence about watching this, i would probably recommend to skip this if you're a big fan of the original, but if you're not or you've never seen it, then i would say it's a solid watch. this one isn't as dark, gritty, or realistic if that's what you're into.
This comment section has a very weird and ridiculous, everyone is trying to make a point. No one is even talking…
i've only seen the first couple of eps of the original and i definitely felt more attached to those characters than these ones. i adore rio, i'm intrigued by tokyo, berlin is fascinating, denver is psychotic, nairobi is fun, etc. in this version, i haven't felt much for any of them. i think one of the biggest factors is the atmosphere. the original feels very real and gritty, while this one feels k-dramaifed, almost too clean, crisp, and perfect. i mean, i felt attached to the og characters within 2 episodes, let alone 6. money heist korea may be fine standalone, but then they should've just made a standalone story instead of a scene-for-scene remake if they didn't want comparisons. here i was excited for a money heist korea, only to be disappointed it's the EXACT same story (minus a few changes). i really thought they would've kept the money heist aesthetic with a fresh story, but i guess not ://
Yes, I would say this show is also a psychological masterpiece and is a great cinematic experience like SFH.
i mean, i certainly agree with tbk being my #1 favorite drama, but i've noticed a lot of drama watchers tend to favor kdramas over any other country. both do have a great psychological twist though which both need some type of interpretation to understand (else it'll feel like a confusing/incomplete ending). subjectively, i thought sfh was SOOOOO boring esp in the middle. i took a months-long break watching it, meanwhile i binged tbk within a couple days because it's just so damn incredible in every category. but yeah, seeing as this person loved sfh so much, i just drew some parallels with its storytelling
how could it have been an accident if they tied ropes around its legs and neck to yank it to the floor, devastatingly…
falling horses in film are horses that are trained to fall. they fall on command, have cushions/soft dirt to fall on, slowly fall which is then sped up in post production to look like it was a fast fall, or they just cgi the whole horse. i'm pretty damn sure anyone could think that tying wires to a running horse and yanking it to the ground would (at best) injure it, do you not think so? why do they use prop guns instead of real guns? why use stunt doubles instead of the real actors? because directors and stunt coordinators know there are dangers involved in filming action scenes and they need to take precautions in order to prevent any major injuries/deaths. what if a film threw a cat off a roof without any padding on the bottom and it died? an accident? what if a film made a dog swim a long distance with no safety crew and it drowned? an accident? now what if an actor had to roll down the stairs without any protective gear or first aid and they died? still an accident?
things like wires snapping, parachutes not opening, safety nets falling, car brakes malfunctioning, etc, are all accidents. even if they didn't do it to purposefully hurt the horse, would they really have not known the consequences? can you really tell me that if you were a director/stunt coordinator, you wouldn't think tying wires to a horse's legs and neck and yanking it down while it's running would injure it? i'm not sure if that could ever sound like an accident to me tbh. again, i don't have an opinion as to whether the show "deserved" to get cancelled or not (most likely not), but i don't think i could excuse that as an accident, especially with how much planning goes into filming.
