The writers need to mix and match their dynamics, characters and characteristics. This one, the love dynamic became predictable in episode 1 when we saw the FL having a male bestie. anyone who has watched any Cdrama would have told you after watching episode 1, what's coming in later episodes, the tropes, the storylines etc etc. Same characters, predictability etc is the issue.
As an example, instead of FL having a male bestie, think how the story would have been if the ML had a female bestie?
As the drama went on, the ML kept shining. His story ark was more fulfilling, emotional and has good progress. FL had very good first half but second half, her presence was not felt that much. In some episodes she was not even missed.
The love dynamic between ML and FL is typical Cdrama dynamic, with ML coming across as a fool in love and FL taking advantage of that said love. Some may like that kind of dynamic and some won't.
