These dramas have that many men loving the FL sells the drama. The more men having cute and romantic interactions with the FL the better the ratings for the drama.
Conversely, you never see ML having any romantic interactions with any other girl than the FL, because that does not sell.

It is all about selling the drama and a large section of people who watch these dramas like their FL to have lot of men around her and ML to have just the FL near him.

It's basically a drama about a Mary Sue and her Dildos.

Thats basically every Cdrama.
All the men eventually fall in love with the FL.

but, this one particular instance has the guy practically raising the girl since she was born & then developing feelings for her. in the world the story is set in, this could not be an issue but in general, it should be bothersome & may be thats why I was bothered by it.

In the next life FL reincarnations falls in love ML's 'reincarnation'. In fact it becomes one of the sad parts in later half of these 2 reincarnations losing their identities.

The final pairing is the original ML and FL.

Even if we take what you said is true, by then the relationship between ML and FL was already established as romantic but the story pretty much shows clearly the identities are exclusive and plays into the angst that follows because of their identities.

ML and FL have zero interactions before the FL is a full grown woman.

FL and Tian Qi pretty much knew each other since she was born and he is involved in raising her.

It is pretty clear what their relations should not be based on that.

If ML and FL had interactions since she was a child, I would pretty much agree with you. They don't and since they are immortals, the age gap pretty much does not matter.

The only thing that mattered was the Tian Qi being part of her life since she was born, which makes their dynamic very different.

I find the character of the pupil turned father in her second life a lot better. The sacrifices he makes are much more impactful & he was like her real dad, no nonsense & very protective of her,

Tian Qi minus his romantic inclinations towards the FL is not bad but just can't look at his the same way because of the reasons mentioned.

It really does not matter, all the reasons and excuses etc etc...

He was in her life actively as a toddler and every day hence forth, not as an outsider but as family.
if that is not enough to imply what their relationship should have been, nothing ever will.

Cdramas tend to make these kind of creepy relations very often in their dramas. This is nothing new. Have seen dramas where the brother of the ML actively goes after the FL even after the ML and FL are together.

Like I said Tian Qi could have been a friend or father to her and the story would have been much richer with him showing similar emotions, concerns and affections for the FL. But since that is not the case, he comes across as a pervert who pretty much tried to groom a girl he knew since she was a toddler.

Must be in minority since I felt Tian Qi in ALP was creepy.
Tian Qi knew FL when she was toddler. He fed her, she played with him as a toddler, as a child and as a young woman. He was for all practical purposes a father figure to her. This made all that followed from him very very creepy, especially after FL made it clear how she viewed him and how he still kept persisting.

Remove that romance fact and let him remain as a father figure and close friend of the FL, the character would have worked better. His affection for FL would not have diminished just like how the pupil turned father in FL second life went about it.

With a father, brother and friend, there is unconditional love. A love without any expectation, which sounds a lot better than the creepy love Tian Qi had for FL. It felt like he was grooming the FL from when she was a toddler.

Cdramas don't do 2ML well. That's because Cdramas think they 'must' have a 2ML in the story. Many times it backfires for various reasons.

Thats the worst part, beating to generate laughs.

We would not laughing if it was the ML thrashing the crap out of the FL.

She is shown as flawed person and it is that. All dramas do not need perfect ML and FL's. Having varied characterization of leads brings a different vibe. The leads as far as I am concerned can be very flawed and eccentric.

The only thing bothered me was the casual violence FL does on ML. It was 3rd or 4th drama I watched in last month on so where the FL is shown to be beating the ML with zero consequences or FL reflecting on it. It looks like these dramas are normalizing ML getting beaten by the FL. That was the only issue. Anyway, the drama does address this for a minute or so through ML but still..

It's always a harem.

It was for couple of minutes but it pretty much destroyed their romance.
I have seen this trope played out many times in Asian dramas & now a days I vomit a bit seeing it.

If it helps, their love story is pretty pathetic.

It's the usual asian drama trope....FL crying over another dude & the ML getting hots seeing the wailing FL and confessing.

Forget the romance, the story is very intriguing and the ML is giving a stellar performance.

In some close up shots of the FL face, it's pretty clear there is lot of work done there.
The eye brows especially look out of place.

FL gets trashier and stays annoying until the end.
Who ever writes these stories need to go to therapy.

I liked the 2FL a lot more in Dance of Sky Empire.
She was everything you want your FL to be.

I absolutely loved Love and redemption. Top 5 Cdrama Xianxia/Wuxia.
Even liked the FL. Her character in that drama made sense because how she was built and the redemption arc however small in comparison to what ML did, was acceptable. You watched on screen FL desperately trying to be with the ML.

Eternal Love had none of those.
Imagine if genders were reversed and ML ditched FL and her child after he gained power to do his own stuff with other women. I was searching for 'Eternal Love' in this drama until the last episode but all we got was a FL that turned into a sad drunk.
In fact in this drama even without the ML the story would still be fine. The central story of this drama was never about the love between ML and FL....it was always about FL and her master. They should have named it something else.

Ancient Love poetry was pretty good in dealing with romance. Another one of my favorite.

I understand who the ML is.

ML was pretty much in love with her when he was a sapling for 40k years and another 40k years after his birth.
basically for ML, the FL was center of his world. There is no other woman or person ever in his life. he was willing to die for her.

For the FL, she had a lover before the ML. She also has other men in her life who are more important.
the ML was more like a sex buddy for her after she ascended. he was also the dude who would do things for her. Apart from that she pretty much had other things to do and other more important men in her life.

She basically dumped him mid way through the drama along with their child and yet the ML was one who knelt for days outside her home. It was hilarious seeing how much the ML loved the only woman in his life, while the FL was like meh..I have other men and you are not that important.
