This is boring af so far... maybe I just dont "get" the overused antihero cliche... will try out a few more episodes but the main characters are getting on my nerves right now for some reason...

I don't know exactly what I don't like about this drama, but I've dropped it twice. Maybe it's just not my cup…
It's so so. I started this one quite a few times myself. The mystery is a bit meh and the characters too. All around mediocre so far (at 11 eps) and easily to figure out

i guess it's how you define ambition and creativity. Tan Ya's desire to become a prophetess is one form of ambition.…
Exactly my point. They can't dream but they have dreams. On the other hand the Neanthals can dream but have no dreams to advance or better themselves... dont we often have dreams that relate to our worries, ambitions and fears?

Probably bc HYBE doesn’t really do outside company filming that’s only a very recent development for bts but…
Hm, they're about as famous as Stray Kids and I bet you BTOB and iKon are almost as big as TXT if not bigger. The only outliers would be the other 3 groups, maybe. It's really that Hybe was never a fan of having their artists promote outside their platforms (with good reason, no one really wanted BTS on their shows back then so Big Hit developed their own methods of promoting, which were wildly effective and were endlessly adopted by other companies), so you dont see Hybe artists on variety shows much. BTS went to a few smaller online shows like After School a bunch of times (and like twice on Weekly Idol) but after they started their own variety show and their vlogs, they stopped with that altogether (like I said, not like they were getting lots of invitations those first few years anyway).

Agreed, fan vote shouldnt have been a method but that's how it has to be with these types of shows. Viewers need to participate or they'll just feel disconnected and bored. That said, I'd definitely put Stray Kids in the top 3, even without fan vote. I felt the 2nd challenge where they ranked poorly by critics was actually pretty good, I loved what they did to the song and their concept. They were consistently good from the get go. That said, ATEEZ blew my mind too. They're super good performers

If you've been obsessed with K-dramas or K-pop for several years, you'd understand that this is the way it is…
You misunderstood me. I am not demanding anything from anyone. What a good professional translator does is adapt a text so it can be understood by their target audience. Since to Koreans and Westerners the word scandal is used in different contexts with different connotations any translator worth their salt would adapt the text so that Westerners can understand the meaning without having to research Korea's tabloid terminology. As such, the translation of the original to English would not be "dating scandal". The same is valid the other way around. Adaptation is a fact of translation, such as Harry Potter in Korea, for example, is the same but it factors in their own culture within the translation. Think puns and sayings that are specifically British. Koreans are not going to understand them without research. As such you adapt the translation bringing into it something more recognizable to them. This is is how you do professional translation.

If you need glossaries to watch a series then something is failing in the translation process. Imagine UN interpreters asking world leaders to check glossaries while listening to the simultaneous translation... it's a ludicrous idea.

I understand all that but keep in mind that "scandal" does have a different connotation in the West and people will interpret it with the meaning they always have attributed to it. As such, the translation can be adapted to fit the audience. It's very common to do that actually, and normal. I'm a translator and it's daily occurrence to adapt translations to your target market. It would be weird otherwise and word for word translations result in things like this... word for word translations are actually an incorrect way to translate

is this show really scary?
Not scary at all, but the mystery is pretty good and the overall story. Think Ghost Whisperer but 100 times darker
