Not really my type of movie. I am not a big fan of Kim Gi Deok...despite recognizing the quality of his films and the cultural significance of them I'm just not a fan of his style. I decided to give Pungsan a chance despite this because the premise was interesting and I love Yun Gye Sang...however, I was both amused, amazed, and extremely disappointed. It's a great film as far as "quality" is concerned but on an entertainment level I found it both boring and too far-fetched. Oh, well. To each his own...
Cute and hilarious. My only complaint really is that the whole dramatic back-story was a little too dramatic for the lighter rom-com it started out as. But otherwise it was perfect and had me gasping for air in the theater because I was laughing so much. Jeong Jae Yeong is an amazing actor!
So cute! So funny! I loved this movie despite the slightly cheesy drama. It was a lot different than I expected. Lee Jong Suk is always wonderful and I'm a huge fan of Park Bo Young so having the two of them together was like hitting the jackpot. I was a little surprised that the story line followed Lee Jong Suk's character a lot closer than hers though, since I expected it to be the other way around...which made this one of Park Bo Young's weakest roles as far as character development goes (but I think that's mostly do to the surprisingly minimal screen time she had). Still it was brilliant and awesome. There was definitely one scene that had me laughing so hard I could barely breathe!
The best surprise was how the director choose to use the song "Nothing's Gonna Stop us Now" in the end. I'll admit, I'm an 80's music girl so I was freaking out just a little.
Anyway, so worth a watch. I want to see it again. Right now.
I’m not sure if I ever watched the original Peach Girl anime when I was younger or if I just remember hearing so much about it that I knew the story. Either way, I watched this movie after stumbling upon a really well-done fanmade music video and I pretty much got what I expected: a live action version of a shojou manga.
The story progresses fast (because: movie) which really made the different plot points seem even more ridiculous. The misunderstandings were immature and by-the-book but I suppose if I was in high school I would probably not mind as much and enjoy it more.
It was cute, overall, but nothing substantial. Would recommend it for a rainy day and nostalgia for some Japanese entertainment.
Pretty average but the awesome cast gives it bonus points. Apparently, it is very different from the original manga/anime and it's not a secret that fans have been outraged at the differences but as a movie on its own I thought it was a cute and easy film. I recommend it for those who have not read or seen the original
Oh...Kame-chan has done so well since his "Nobuta" days. It's been a while since I've seen him on screen and I just couldn't get enough. The horribly rushed beginning-that-made-no-sense aside (and we'll throw that scene of them leaving the school in there at the end in for good measure), this movie was very cute. I wish we had been given more development in the beginning or that the characters had a start to their relationship that made more sense but alas that did not happen. The age difference is a little cringe-worthy as well. I mean, it's fine that she's a student...but 16?! Can we at least make her 18? Ugh, that was rough. But if you ignore all that...it's cute and sweet and easy to watch.
(At the time of this review) Just got done watching this bad boy in the theater...I'm so glad I went! The cast alone is awesome but there is so much this movie has to offer...BROmance is abound and as well as some hilarious moments...the only thing I think that was pretty weak is the very average plot...though the character interactions make it very entertaining. Loved it!
It was cute and funny but not really anything special. I enjoyed how the movie put a lighter edge to its subject but felt the conflict towards the end was a little too typical. The editing and directing was lovely all except for one particular scene that involved the camera going around and around and around (don't watch if you get motion sick easy) and the ending was a little bleh. But all in all, entertaining and enjoyable.
Yamapi is my weakness...which explains why I went for this movie even though I'm not really a fan of the teacher-student romance genre. Something about the way this played out though was just so...right. I loved the characters and how their relationship developed. There was a scene there that definitely made my heart race (so well done)! But the last half was lacking and predictable...not nearly as good. So the movie just kind of went out with a...fizzle. Oh well, worth a watch!
Satoh Takeru will always be Kenshin to me so it's strange to see him in a different role (also not a fan of his long bangs in this...I wanna see his eyes)! I'm not really into music-based movies or dramas but I liked the story overall. It had some cute moments though the ending wasn't the best (yes, I'm even referring to the real ending that happens after the credits). A good one-timer. I might check out the Korean drama also based off of the same manga.
I watched this a while back with some friends and I was REALLY surprised! It turned out to be a great movie (slow start, powerful finish)! And my -bias- LOVE for Cha Tae Hyeon isn't the only reason why (although it is a BIG reason, lol). The story is actually really amazing. I was so surprised by it! You'll love it, I promise: just be sure and watch all the way to the end!
Fantastic acting, some beautiful cinematography, and a stunning soundtrack....I just didn't enjoy the last quarter-ish of the movie as much as the first three-fourths. The ending was realistic but disappointing. The first part of the movie is so awesome though, filled with heart and humor. I liked it a lot overall.
Surprisingly funny and touching, I enjoyed this movie more than I expected. Although I love Gong Yoo it took me forever to get inspired to watch this. I'm glad I finally gave it a shot. Well worth a watch if you are looking for a good RomCom.
It was thrilling with some GREAT twists you just won’t see coming. I wanted to rate it higher but ultimately went with 8.5-Stars because the way everything wrapped up dampened the overall uniqueness of the plot (it proceeded in a VERY typical fashion for this genre in Korean film after the Big Reveal). When you’re in the mood for a thriller though, I highly recommend it!
Fairly typical story but the great cast is what makes it stand out. I thought it would be funnier but it was more serious than I expected. Although that's not always a bad thing, I was just hoping for a lighter mood. If you're looking for a crime-thriller-comedy though, this is a good pick! I enjoyed it!
This is a good movie! Really showcases more of Kim Ha Neul's fantastic acting. I wish there had been more of Yu Seung Ho in it but oh well...
Blind is a quick and at times creepy watch with a touch of the bittersweet. However, although it wasn't necessarily boring, I did think it could be more exciting. Overall it's worth a watch, though!
Pretty flawless as far as movies go. So original and wonderful! Plus, I went into this unaware that Park Seo Jin was in it which was the best surprise ever. He’s still on that ‘can-do-no-wrong’ track for me!!
I am a total sucker for stories like this. On the surface, it seems almost like a re-make of the "It Started with a Kiss"/"Playful Kiss"-vers but it is actually different in many ways and holds it's own. The production quality is great (it is SO pretty) and the story is so innocent and sweet. I do think the writing was a little unrealistic and immature at times but overall I really enjoyed this drama. I just love how Jiang Chen was really wrapped around Xiaoxi's finger from the get-go. They are the sweetest.
The best surprise was how the director choose to use the song "Nothing's Gonna Stop us Now" in the end. I'll admit, I'm an 80's music girl so I was freaking out just a little.
