If you like Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo this drama is for you. I just watched three episodes but this drama…
Agreed. Like watching Dumb and Dumber. What's the joy in it? I'm having this on while doing my abs. I'll finish it bc gyms are closed hahaha. But. Good comparison, didn't enjoy Weighlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo either. And I'm thinking how much better Run On is, there's intelligent dialogue, the 2nd couple is as interesting as the lead couple. I could go on and on, but Run On really raised the level of this type of series unfortunately so much as to make Fight For My Way unwatchable imo.

Many have recommended this and it was really good. Not a dull moment. I was of course curious to see Lee Junho in his first acting role, and boy did he stand out, already.

Lee Dong Gun totally stole the show. Great acting. Can't help but be drawn in by his charisma although he plays a sad tortured psychopath king. Yeon Woo Jin has only one expression in his face, irritated. Enough said. Park Min Young really is the queen of chemistry and a very great actress but here she had no chance of making it work or making the drama better. The first half was just filled with the leads being chased or at the verge of death every 15 mins. I think I've finally seen too much of those old bearded guys plotting to take over the palace. I like sageuks but only when there's a real depth to the characters. The second half was actually better as there were some quiet moments in between. Still, I couldn't get emotionally connected to this drama. I'd have wanted to know more about the reasoning of the characters since oftentimes they seemed to go from one stance to an opposite one without any explanation. 7.5. Don't hate me because my opinion is just mine.

Frankly, I think Deok Im is more strongly than most warrior female characters.
Everyone is entitled to have their own hobbies and interests. Do I tell you to go and watch Nordic noir just bc it's good. No.

I really dig the "block user" function hahahaha. that c-drama creep is now outta my sight. relief. If it was my choice I wouldn't care to see any c-or j-drama content here at MDL at all.

Damn! This actually sounds like a dope idea with the bad haircuts!Does Gu Jun Pyo's curly hair count as well?…
Yes curly hair on men, especially short, is total nightmare material hahaha. Worst examples: Kim Dae Myung in Misaeng, Jo Jae Yoon in Save Me !

Surprised to read this because I think this is the best modern K drama I've ever seen. I've just completed it.…
Yes, tastes are a very personal and subjective thing imo. It's great to have different opinions and yet be able to acknowledge each other's views respectfully. Thanks!

What a great topic! My fave hair prize goes to Jang Don Gun as Tagon in Arthdal Chronicles! (This style is also actually quite common in my country IRL, as are those man buns which I also like a lot). Some other faves are of, course, Jang Dong Yoon in Tale of Nokdu, Kim Jae Wook in Coffee Prince. Yoo Yeon Seok in Mr. Sunshine, who can forget that Dong Mae? Hwarang is great in this respect. And I remember that very funny scene in Rooftop Prince where the straight from Joseon time travellers have to cut their hairs to fit in better and it's the worst kind of fate to them ("Hair is everything"). Hope you make an article of K-dramas bad hair day too! (Those bowl cuts are supercringey!)

Title Empress Ki
I started this when I was sick with flu and watched some 20 episodes in 2 days. The first 10 were really good with constant twists and turns. The middle part from 20-40 felt very repetitive with war after war and neverending palace plots. I skipped all fight scenes and Tanashvili scenes. The last 10 episodes were again a rollercoaster. I think it's best to watch this drama as it originally was meant to be watched, 1-2 episodes per week. Probably only then it's possible to appreciate the big scale of the production and the effort that went into making it visually outstanding. Regardless of this being a classic and must-watch, perhaps, I felt the characters were rather one-dimensional and there could have been more shades to the culprits. Now they are just mainly hatable monsters. I have to say I didn't feel much empathy for the main leads. There were some scenes that stood out for both Ji Chang Wook and Hae Ji Won, but the space they were given to portray character depth was rather limited (in comparison to action scenes). Therefore Taltal emerged as one of the most interesting characters, as there was slow progression in his coming to the fore. All in all, with the ending (not an actual victory) and the permanent wars and power struggles and last speeches of the Empress Dowager and Head of Eagle House, I felt the message was one of there being always shadow forces and continuity in power politics regardless of people in charge changing.

I want to start watching My Mister or Queen for seven days but i'm kinda scared lol
I've tried both and didn't manage to get immersed. The male lead of Queen for 7 Days is just a very bad choice for the drama, he just looks constantly irritated and annoyed, even in scenes supposed to be romantic, there's no expression in his eyes. Tale of Nokdu is lighter and very good imo. My Mister is probably/supposedly mainly artistic with characters wandering around in the city at dark :) I just find it very boring.

Yeah, there is no crime genre at this moment in the tag list, that's why it didn't come up in the result. However,…
I mean my edits here are all rejected. If yours are approved, it's good :)

This is not actually a romcom, it's not very lighthearted or cute. Teen dramas tend to be dismissed easily as just that just bc of expectations. This is neither too dark or too light imo. The theme is rather universal, whether to stand up to fight injustice, or to go with the crowd which is always easier. Very few people can stand strongly behind what they see as right and ethical when the rest just have an easy time not caring. School bullying and burnout due to insane pressures and competition are also rather universal I guess, not only happening in SK. Also the rich/poor divide is strongly accentuated here. The romance thread is nicely executed. In good taste. This is far from a perfect k-drama but worth watching nevertheless.

I started watching expecting an entertaining and funny rom com. The iconic scenes appear in so many thematic drama mixes (which I love, long live Drama Master). But found it just disappointing in many respects. The humour is mostly cringeworthy, the characters cause second-hand embarrassment, most of the time. Thre'se no witty dialogue, or deeper themes, as far as I've watched (11 episodes). The second lead couple is quite uniquely uninteresting, I've found myself fast-forwarding most of their scenes. This is just my personal opinion. If it gets better in the last episodes, we'll see, but I don't have high hopes. I think I'd had spent my time better rewatching an older fave like My Love From the Star. Reminder to myself: if the first ep's suck, don't continue.
