In Luke's mind (drama version), he made Tao feel like they do not need to have a normal relationship after she asked him to keep it secret but all his interactions with his friends (and inanimate objects) suggest otherwise. So everytime Tao does something that normally wouldn't seem off for FWB, he gets mad and does something stupid, causing even more angst and misunderstandings.
That's why it's a situationship. The terms of their relationship are not clear and their feelings are not given the chance to be clear either so both end up acting like headless chickens.
One text message could clear most of their problems.

Exactly and that’s why it was best not to keep Ji with her either. Not everybody deserves to be a parent and she acknowledges this. She isn’t a victim. With the Yu’s, Ji would at least be useful so at least to a certain extent he will be physically safe till he is old enough to fend for himself. But with Yake there is absolutely no guarantee at all since by that point she truly could not care less about anything and was so destructive.
With Concubine Wu, she had the will to survive at least so she was willing to do anything (+ she was smart enough to know who to trust), but with Yake, it was to find peace and unfortunately her son was not part of her idea of peace.
In a way it’s good the drama didn’t end it with her reuniting with Ji. She didn’t deserve that kind of redemption.
Honestly Ji’s in a lose-lose situation no matter which parent he ends up with.🥲

You do have a point there. With the FL, her choices in the initial episodes kind of made sense since she was an inexperienced fresh graduate compared to the ML but now that we are in their second year, it does feel a little questionable - specially since now there is a bit of a contradiction with ep 1’s introductory voice-over. I hope they’ve taken the change into account so they don’t ruin her character. She has the potential to be really badass in the future 🙈
