NGL this drama is good for beginners. The story is interesting but the "who did it" bit is quite obvious.

Sooo...I feel bad for 😈 but if you really think about it, there was absolutely no reason to take such a risk in the first place given the circumstances and the location 🤷‍♀️

I agree. The path Bo has taken is too harsh to ignore once reality hits him. Right now he believes he has been wronged by Dan but based on all the flashbacks so far, Dan didn't do anything to him on purpose. It's the same with the way he's been treating Xie.

I almost want him to truly fall for Xie instead of Yu just so Xie can dumpy his cruel ass.

It must be nice to not have to worry about changing history since it’s an imaginary world 🤭

She's pretending to care. She needs an heir where she has full control over. Any of Dan's future children will be heavily protected since he is no longer defenceless unlike when he was a kid AND they would be made crown prince by default. The current crown prince isn't recognized as his son (he is probably known as a brother/ cousin). So he will loose his position once Dan has a kid.

The reason why she kept harrassing Xie was because she initially thought the pregnancy was with Dan. The empress Dawager probably would have drugged Xie herself in order to abort it.

It was just a stroke of luck for her that Xie herself aborted it.

He was drugged by his step mothrr when he was young and was raped (probably a typical aphrodisiacforced enclosure situation). She wanted a spare puppet crown prince since Dan wasn't obedient enough.

I am not too sure about who the mother is but in some donghua/ novel spoilers I read, it was a maid who was later murdered after she gave birth.

It was a maid apparently based on the spoilers I’ve read so far. She was murdered shortly after giving birth. All she wanted was a spare puppet so the mother’s birthright didn’t matter🙈

In today’s episodes, the Step mother’s head maid mentioned something about a Yan assassin traumatizing him in the past/ during the dance performed by the Yan dance thrope Dan seemed to loose focus for a moment there so perhaps, the step mother might have forced somebody from Yan to 🍇him when he was a kid?

All side-stories ant the end of each episode relate to our Dan. San is probably his real life name.
It’s the drama’s way of slowly letting the viewers understand why Dan is the way he is.

The crown prince from “present” novel day is allegedly his son based on the spoilers (yes, we are going to have a traumatic side story soon🥲)

It helps that he loathes the emporer more than he fears him.

I hope they'll give Dan and Duan an interesting arc instead of the usual crazed SML ending we've been getting recently 🤞

I've been so tempted to try the donghua but trying to be patient since I don't want to ruin the drama experience. It's supposed to be slightly different though since it doesn't follow the novel (unlike with the drama).

With Duan honestly IDK what they will do with his character. At first I thought they’d give him some sort of redemption arc since his hate seemed to be misguided/ the initial end credits animation showed all 4 together…but now I can’t imagine how they could do it. They might unite together to get rid of the empress (enemy of my enemy is a friend concept) but I can’t see how it would be possible for Dan and Duan to be true allies🫠

Because they do not know how large their circle is. It’s a bit of a hydra situation. You can assasinate the empress, but if you don’t know who backs her, things can get complicated in the future and they can end up with even more enemies. There’s also the crown prince. If he doesn’t know WHY she was punished, his resentment (assuming he likes her), will cause more chaos to the kingdom later just like what’s going on with Duan at the moment.

Duan’s resentment/ thirst for revenge makes more sense after ep 14 to a certain extent. All the kids were tortured in different ways and unfortunately they couldn’t find a way to break free 🥲

Based on what Duan said, the punishments escalated over time. While Duan protecting the sixth prince is seen as heroic and brave, in their young tortured minds, Dan’s attempt to stand up to authority despite knowing that they’ll get punished for his actions pales in comparison since nothing changed/ nobody was “saved”.

I also feel that the hag might have manipulated the kids and fed them false information (like how Dian’s mother truly died) to ensure there is no chance for them to join hands.

Yu explained this previously. It’s mostly to do with the way how Xie reacted when they made her go through a “drunk”-truth test. The final test was the fact that she didn’t recognize or even react to her “How are you”.

So her odd behaviour like with the instrument and “modern” song hinted that she is a transmigrator but it’s just part of her character lore.

From ep 10 or so onwards, they give us snippets of his teen years as the crown prince🙈
We’ll probably learn more about his illness in ep 17-18.
