The Mos were not exiled- instead they were demoted as commoners so no longer probably had the right to live in the Capital.

Even the way she handled her son’s situation makes sense in the long run. How can she protect her son if she cannot be strong enough to protect herself even? She’d just be continuing the generational trauma - could be even worse since you can already see she was cracking 🫠
She lost everything she’d craved and sacrificed for so long so she will not be leaving completely unscattered. Losing her dignity, reputation, and losing to Xie yet again would be her punishment
